Amethyst Desire

"I hate you," I mumbled. His face didn't turn to the other side nor did his amethyst eyes leave my brown ones even once. That slap was a very harsh one but this man didn't even flinch. "You love me," he said. "No, I don't," I scoffed. I tried to slap him again but this time he caught my wrist. "Yes, you do and I can prove it," he pulled me closer and leaned in. A very obvious smirk plastered on his perfectly sculpted face. *One peck...* *Two pecks...* I didn't even realize it and my eyes were closed; my lips were moving in sync with his. I couldn't resist him, hell I didn't even have a single thought of resisting him. Not only did he own my soul but my body too was at his mercy. His tongue brushed my lower lip now and then, his hands snaked around my waist keeping me secured as if I would run away if he let go- like he feared I would disappear. My fingers were tangled up in his long locks of hair. And just like that normal kiss turned into a hot make-out when I allowed his tongue to explore the insides of my mouth. ~ In the world they lived in, 3% of humankind were cursed with the rule of 'soulmate'. They were born with the initials of their soulmate's name on their left ankle. They were bound to spend the rest of their life with their soulmate, whether they got along or not. Whether they loved them or not. Some continued to look at this rule as a curse, while some embraced it and saw it as a blessing. Things got complicated when Dove Stanley, a genius lyricist found out that her soulmate; an infamous pop star named Vinter Harris is dating her arch-nemesis Nina Robbins. Dove who shared a dark past with Nina became adamant about breaking the soulmate bond with Vinter, as she wanted to have a future with Vinter's half-brother Twilight. Dove believed that mother nature made a mistake to give her a soulmate like Vinter, so she decided to go against mother nature. But there is always a price to pay in order to go against the natural law.

Dove's POV

**Headlines: Supermodel and actress Nina Robbins confirmed her dating rumors with Popstar Vinter Harris to be true.**

At least that's what the headlines said. So much for having a soulmate, Vinter. I thought he had a better taste in women. Out of every woman, he could have dated; he had to pick Nina Robbins, didn't he? That one bloody woman I hate the most.

"Didn't know your brother was dating," I said as Twilight looked at me. He stared at me in confusion as I pointed at the television behind him. He turned around to see what the news was.

He faced me later on with a heavy sigh.

"I didn't know either," he mumbled sounding almost disappointed. I raised my eyebrows at him expecting an explanation. He let out another sigh.

"Vinter has been acting weird lately," he said. "If I talk about my family, my mother is a mistress in the family, which means I don't get as much importance as Vinter does. Though, growing up together Vinter has always been close to me until these recent years. I cannot tell what is going on in his mind. I mean he has a soulmate out there somewhere; he has to be loyal to her at least."

Listening to Twilight, I realized he was as much worried about Vinter as I am. But what this innocent man doesn't know is his brother's soulmate is sitting right in front of him.

"I see, so what are you going to do now, Twilight?" I asked. He shook his head.

"I don't know," he said frowning.

"A few days back I was offered to be the official lyricist of 'Raining Blaze'," I said. Twilight's eyes turned into saucers.

"So, you are the one who is going to replace my brother- as a lyricist?" He asked. I shrugged.

"I haven't accepted the offer yet," I said. I pulled my laptop out of the bag. A cynical smile appeared on my face.

"Looks like I have to accept now."

"Wait- so it was because Charles decided that my brother is no good with words anymore, he thought of giving you the position of lyricist which Vinter opposed to. But Charles didn't listen to his tantrums," Twilight said as he went deep into his thoughts.

"This is exactly why Charles must have thought of replacing Vinter," I said as I typed the mail to Charles.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Bunny, your brother is a kid. He hasn't grown up, he's too pampered and can't handle failure well. He throws fits and tantrums whenever he gets the chance. He is good with words; I give him that. But his words lack maturity," I replied as I finished typing the mail. My eyes met Twilight's gunmetal orbs again.

"You are the genius one here, I believe what you said and yes, you are right. Vinter is pampered and immature," Twilight replied. It's funny how this man believes everything I say. All my life people have always questioned me. They never trusted me. What makes this man so different?

"But, are you going to accept the offer?" He asked.

"Why not?" I asked.

"I don't know. Vinter loves to write songs for the band, and your arrival will make him question his skills," he said seemingly worried for his brother.

"Are you older than Vinter or younger?" I asked him.

"Younger, 2 years younger... why do you ask?" He asked.

"So, that makes you 3 years older than me," I said.

"Wait you are only 23?" He asked. I nodded with a grin.

"Damn," he mumbled.

"Look bunny, I will tell you this. Whatever I'm doing is- will benefit your brother in the end. So, trust me in this. I know I'm asking you to trust a stranger, but just to let you know we both want the same thing- which is to get Vinter Harris on the right path again," I explained. He furrowed his eyebrows and stared at me in confusion.

"Why would you do that for him?" He asked.

"Take a guess, Twilight," I replied as I placed my arms on the table with my head resting on my hands. He thought for a moment when the realization hit him.

"Dove Stanley... D.S that initial is carved on Vinter's ankle... could it be- are you, his soulmate?" He asked. I chuckled at his reaction.

"Indeed, I am," I said. His face suddenly had a happy expression on it.

"Vinter is going to love you!" He said sounding excited.

"What makes you say that, bunny?" I asked.

"When we were young, he had always dreamt of meeting you, being with you. He loves you!" he said in confidence. I wish I could tell him, that reality is going to be a lot different. I am going to be Vinter's rival and he is going to hate me for that, I won't work on his will and he distastes such people who do not obey him.

"I don't think so..." I said as I paused.

"Why?" He asked. I shrugged.

"You will see," I said as I got up. "But, you- I have taken a liking in you, Twilight Harris."

"What is that supposed to mean?" He asked, oblivious of my intentions. I laughed.

"Nothing, my innocent one," I said.

"I guess, I should leave now. See you around, bunny."

As I was about to walk away, Twilight caught my wrist. I stepped back as I leaned on the table as a support.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Before you leave. I just wanted to ask... why were you trying to commit suicide?" He asked. I chuckled and chuckled until my chuckles turned into hysterical laughter.

"I was not trying to commit suicide..." I said in between the laughter. "Though I won't lie, death was one of the thoughts running in my mind at that time. But I just got on that railing to feel the thrill and cold air, that's it."

"In your eyes, I can feel the pain of your past. You are not the open book that you pretend to be. I would like to get to know you more, Dove," he admitted. I smiled.

"I would like to get to know you too, Twilight. And that is why we should keep some questions for the next time, so we don't run out of topics to talk about. Yeah?" I asked and he nodded.

"Can I have your number?" He asked giving me his mobile phone. I smiled as I typed my number in there.

"Here you go," I said. "I don't like texting or talking on calls much. But, for you, I can make an exception. So, feel free to text me whenever you want," I winked at him as he blushed again like earlier. He shook his head smiling.

"Okay then, see you next time," he said with a smile.

"Next time, bunny," I patted his back walking away holding my laptop bag. Hopefully he'll eat the extra cheesecake which I bought for him. I never really planned to eat that cheesecake from the beginning. I could tell he loves eating so I got him extra cheesecake.

When I stepped out of the café, I got a call from an unknown number. I picked up the call out of curiosity.

"Hello," I said.

"Is this Miss Dove Stanley?" The person on the other side of the call asked.

"Yes. Who am I speaking to?" I asked.

"I'm Charles Perez. You replied to my email earlier..."

"Ah! Mr Perez, I'm glad you gave me this offer. I mean to be the lyricist of 'Raining Blaze'. I'm so excited to work under you," I said with a smirk. It wasn't a surprise to get a call from Charles so fast, I mean I did add my number in the mail earlier. He sure is desperate to hire me.

Excitement? Money? Fame? Was I behind all of that?

Hell no!

I just want to satisfy my curiosity first and foremost. What happened to Vinter Harris? And why is he like this? Why would he date someone like Nina Robbins? How would he react when he sees me, his beloved soulmate? And how would he react when he'll see that his soulmate is taking a very personal interest in his half-brother, Twilight Harris?

"About that, Miss Stanley. If you don't mind, will you be able to come by at Hope records today?" Charles asked. "I would like to discuss the contract with you."

"Please just call me Dove," I said. "I don't mind going there right now. I am nearby at the moment. If you don't mind me coming over at this very moment."

"Not at all! Please, I am glad we can meet this fast," Charles said. I chuckled.

"Okay then, see you in 15 minutes," I said. As we bid each other a goodbye I hung up the call.

This is so exciting. I skipped happily towards the Hope records main building. The way was brief as I prepared to have a probable meeting with my soulmate today.

From afar I can see the building of Hope records, I am aware Charles worked very hard to bring this company to the top. I reached the building and entered through the automatic glass door. I reached the reception and stared at the receptionist who was busy talking on a call and chewing gum. Bleh! Cliché.

"I'm here to meet, Charles Perez," I said. She stared at me weirdly as she rolled her eyes and hung up the call she was on earlier. She opened the register and looked at me.

"You got an appointment?" She asked sounding bored.

"I guess so..." I said.

"What's your name?" She asked.

"Dove Stanley," I said. She checked the register.

"Your name is not here, you can leave," she said trying to shoo me away. I let out a dry laugh.

"You don't know who you are talking to, do you?" I asked.

"A narcissistic genius- I know who you are and I don't like you," she said.

"The feelings are mutual Miss..." I read her name tag. "Cole."

"Layla! Charles' guest must be arriving soon! Their name is Dove Stanley. Please, be nice and escort them to Charles' office. Also, I'm going for an evening walk don't worry I won't get caught by the paparazzi," the voice behind me explained. I have heard that voice somewhere. So, I turned around to see the owner of the voice.

It was just the person I was expecting. Pink dyed hair messily pushed back, with earrings on both the ears. He was wearing a white hoodie, a color that matches well with his aura. A pair of dark washed jeans. His plump lips and sharp jawline that girls fawn over all the time, his attire absolutely complimented his beauty. Every person is meant to fall in love with this guy despite what their sexuality is.

Now, didn't this visit just got even more interesting!
