Chapter - 05

The way he talked to me and confessed about his feelings to me, it seems like he knows me from a long time.

Grandma said he lived here before. I'd definitely know him if he lived here before... I know almost everyone in this village. First, I ran to grandma for the explanation.

"Grandma, we need to talk!"

"About what?"

"Aaron! Who is he? How do you know him? And if he lived here before then I should probably have him in my memory, I know almost everyone from this village but him, why's that?" - I said so fast that it was hard to breathe, but I couldn't help it. It feels like something's missing in my memory. Grandma looked at me for a couple of minutes before calling out my mom and dad. I was so confused...

We sat in the room where my little sister and I were staying. The air in this room was extremely heavy. It's a very serious matter, I can tell by the atmosphere.

"I think it's time we should bring it out to her. She's old enough now, old enough to handle herself. What do you think, mom?" - My mom asked grandma, breaking the silence.

"Hmm. Sweet, before we tell you something, we want you to listen to our words carefully and not to panic. It happened a long time ago, so don't think of it much." - Grandma said, gently stroking my head.

They told me the whole story of an incident that happened a few years ago. One day, I was driving my bicycle near the edge of the village and accidentally fell off from a cliff. I had severe injury. Almost all the doctors lost their hopes because it was my brain which was severely affected by the accident. Miraculously I got myself out of the deathbed perfectly fine but without any memories at all. When I first wake up from the hospital bed, I had lost all the memories I had from the past. I couldn't recognize anyone, not even mom and dad. We had to move from our village to the city because of my accident. My parents went to big doctors for this, but they said my memories will come back on its own, and they couldn't do anything about it. Soon I was starting to remember everything...but the traumatic image of me falling down from the cliff had a huge effect on my recovery. Most of the time I would find myself crying in my sleep. And for the second time, I lost my memory again. This time's doctor found out a rare condition. Since, everyone was trying to help me find my memories, some memories I didn't need to bring up were coming back and leaving me traumatized. The doctor then forbade everyone to help me find my memories. As far as I remember, my memories are extremely limited, but I never thought anything out of it. I thought I just have difficulty remembering stuffs. When it was hard to keep my studies in my memory, they just told me to have a gap, without properly telling me the reason.

Aaron and I were very close friends. We would always hang out together, go fishing and do all the adventurous stuffs together. We were practically inseparable. But Aaron had to move from this place to another city because of his parent's job. It was a very sad ending to our story. Aaron and I got separated. Shortly afterward, I got into that accident, which he didn't know it then. Two years ago, when he came to this village to visit his grandparents, he got this sad news from my grandma and was devastated. He wanted to see me. He got my information from my grandma, where I live now, which school I go to and all this stuffs. He searched for me. When he finally saw me, he couldn't control his emotions and almost did something unimaginable, he almost called me out by my name. He didn't know if I still remember him or not, and he couldn't risk it. If anything went wrong, and I go back into that traumatic path, he'd never forgive himself. He was planning to leave after seeing me physically fine and healthy... but he just couldn't. He couldn't resist any more and got some flowers and proposed to me. If he was to write a new story, he shall do it from the beginning...

Water started to stream out my eyes as I learned about Aaron's background. He wasn't the bad guy here, it's me. I was the one who forgot everything in the first place. I remembered everyone but him, my very first best friend.

"Please don't cry. Don't think about it any more! What if you forgets everything again!" - Dad said with a concerning voice.

"I-I forgot someone very special in my life, Aaron. Why I don't have any memories of him? I'm fine now, then why's there no memories of him!" - I couldn't stop crying. I tried to calm myself down, but I couldn't.

"When you were developing your memory, you remembered those who you saw every day. Unfortunately, he wasn't there while you were recovering." - Mom said with calming voice.

After the whole situation, I got out of the room and went to the front yard. I don't have any memories of him, but I felt sympathy for him...and me. He went through a lot for me. I should thank him a big time for this, but in a secret. I won't let him know that I know everything about him now. He might think I am patching up with him just because I know everything. Well, a part of the reason is this, but he doesn't have to know that. I'll make it up to him... as soon as possible!
