Chapter 10: Entrance exam part 4

Aria was by John when the light had passed. Alex wasn't with them. John was still asleep from the time when Cain took over. She sat on the ground next to him since most of the students were also on the ground due to being tired. A kid in a black hoodie walked up to Aria.

"To think someone could do this to him." The hooded guy said as he stood next to Aria.

"Is that you, Ezra?" Aria asked the guy. He was the same person who backed down from a fight when John showed up.

"Yeah, I am. What happened to John? I'm surprised someone fought him. Also, where's that vampire friend of yours?"

"Alex is around here somewhere. As for John… I don't know why he is like this." Aria had placed John's head on her lap and looked down at him with a worried expression.

"I got a question, Ezra. How come you didn't fight John? You know that your magic core is stronger so why?" Aria didn't look at Ezra when she asked she was only looking down at John.

"Because I would rather not be on the angry side of a demon. The most common demons are demons of wrath. They possess the race skill sin of wrath. This ability grants them a flame that no other flame can compare to. It's so strong that it can set mana ablaze, I heard. Many people are scared of it." Ezra said. He had never seen it but hearing it was enough for him to not want to mess with them.

"I see…" Aria was starting to think that he had just awakened his race's Abilities. Still, he was too strong in her opinion. He was also acting differently.

"Hey, Aria!" Alex called out as he ran up to the three of them.

"What the hell happened to John?" He stared daggers at Ezra. He didn't care how strong Ezra was right now he was ready to fight him at any second if he did this.

"Stop Alex! Ezra had nothing to do with this," Alex started to cool down after this. Before he could ask questions, a voice rang out as someone started speaking.

"Well done, congratulations once again to those of you who have successfully passed. I am your principal Jack Taylor. All of you may call me Principal Taylor. To those who have successfully passed, your acceptance letters will be sent to you. All of you are dismissed." The words were short and to the point but no one cared since everyone was exhausted. John was still unconscious, so they decided to wait a while to see if he woke or if Alex could help. Ezra offered to stay although Alex shot him down since he didn't like Ezra. Ezra left after giving Alex an unsightly look. They waited for a while and Jack didn't show up yet. Jhon had awoken from his sleep though.

"What the hell happened?" John asked as he rubbed his head and slowly got up. Alex and Aria looked at him with worried faces.

"I was hoping to ask you. I thought you were knocked out in the forest then you defeated Erick the next second. You said your name was Cain and that John owed you. You also had black flames." Aria tried to explain everything to him as clearly as she could. Alex was just listening in. Alex was upset that he couldn't help at all he didn't even know that all this happened.

"Damn it." that's all John said as he opened his stats screen.

As John looked at his mana core, he was shocked to find that it had reached stage 9 of the black core. He could feel that he was about to reach that stage's peak. Additionally, he was happy to have the race abilities. However, he could only see the sin of wrath, and could not use the other one, but he was content. He told Aria and Alex both of them were shocked and a little jealous.

"Hey! Sorry for being so late, I had to finish some stuff," Alex said as he walked up to the three of them. They were all tired and just wanted to sleep so they were glad he was done. They left when the limo pulled up. When they got home all of them fell asleep right away after showering and changing.

John woke in the middle of the night. He snuck out of the house as best he could to not make a sound. He walked outside and sat on the doorstep. "So Cain you said I owed you what do you want?" John asked, sounding as if he was talking to air.

'So you are talking to me now. It's been a while since we last spoke, dear brother.' The voice rang in John's mind like it was a living person in him.

"I wish I could say that I missed talking to you but I honestly don't. What do you want?"

'Fine, you know what I want though. Blood, death, and anarchy, that's all I ever wanted. You should know that better than anyone. It's who we are. We crave chaos. " John scoffed at Cain.

"I'm never letting you do that again." John's race may be a demon but Cain was the embodiment of it.

"You can say no all you want! But I will do as I PLEASE!" Cain screamed as John ignored him and walked back inside where he saw Jack standing there.

"Night walk?" Jack asked as he sat down and gestured to John to take a seat. John sat next to his brother.

"It's Cain again. He's getting louder." Jack frowned at his words.

"What happened?"

"During the test, he took over, he didn't kill anyone, he just tried to strike a deal. He made my magic stronger by being out though." John said.

"It doesn't matter! He is too dangerous to ever let out you know that!" Jack started to raise his voice so John quickly put his hand on his shoulder.

"What's going on down here?" A woman asked. It was Amelia who was standing on the stairs looking at the two.

"Nothing sorry I didn't mean to wake you, honey." John stood up after Jack's words and walked past Amelia to go back to his room.

"John!" Jack attempted to say something John answered, knowing what he was about to say.

"Don't worry I know what's needed for everyone's safety." Jack sighed in satisfaction that his brother wasn't being reckless. Amelia looked confused; she and everyone else were mostly in the dark about this. Jack just told her not to worry. They all returned to bed and tried to get back to sleep.
