Unbelievable Healing!

Scarlett groaned as she grudgingly opened her eyes. She wondered where she was. Her eyes became more lucid as they scanned the area. Upon realising she was in her room, she let out a contented sigh.

As soon as she started to experience head pain, she placed her hand on her head, groaning and getting to her feet. She questioned why she was lying on the ground. Scarlett gasped as she suddenly remembered that she had passed out on the floor just before going to bed after a run-in with the beast and being bitten by it. She was relieved that she survived the bite, even though it was possible for her to die. She found it odd that, while she could see that her blood had seeped into the bandage when she lifted her clothes up, she wasn't feeling the same amount of pain as the previous evening.

While seated on her bed, Scarlett glanced at the time. Although school didn't begin until 8:00 a.m., it was already 6:30. She got up and went to the mirror to examine the bite and to get ready for the 7:30 doctor's appointment without her mother's knowledge.

If October learns what happened to Scarlett the night before, she won't allow her have peace of mind until Scarlett tells her the whole story. Scarlett slowly removed each bandage from her waist, which surprised her to find no visible bleeding on her wound. She gasped out loud in front of the mirror while massaging the area. "What the hell?"

She was no longer in pain, and her bleeding had stopped. She was left with nothing but a scar from the beast's teeth. It appeared as though nothing had ever happened the previous evening. It appeared as though it was only a bad dream. However, it was not a dream. She remembered every single detail of what had happened, even though she had almost died.

Scarlett quickly used the bathroom and took a shower before changing into her school uniform. Yesterday was horrible enough. Encountered a beast the evening following her father's funeral. Whatever happened to her might have also happened to the boy she followed into the woods. Poor boy.

She removed the ruined clothing she had stowed away under her bed the previous evening and threw it out her window. She would properly dispose of the clothes when she had the chance to leave the house without being seen by her family. It was, however, not possible. As far as she knows, both Belly and October would question.

All Scarlett needed to do at this point was try to avoid chatting with her family about last night.

Mia had noticed blood on her clothes yesterday and had spoken aloud about it, so her family would likely want to know how she got it.

She tried to figure out what had really happened to the self-healing wound. But how on earth was that possible? She used only basic bandages to cover the wound. Was the bandage possessed of any magic in any way? She was puzzled.

As far as she was concerned, she wasn't dreaming. Nothing made sense, even though what had happened was real. Scarlett closed the door to her bedroom and went downstairs to get breakfast. "Good morning, loved ones." October and her sisters stared at her strangely as she danced over to the dining room table.

She sat down, grabbed a piece of toast, and chewed it quickly while oblivious to her family. She needed them to see that she had not been injured.

"Aren't you going to ask her about last night, mom?" Isabella mumbled.

Scarlett bets they certainly weren't anticipating her arrival for breakfast. She was eating as if last night had never happened.

"Are you okay, Hun?" Scarlett looked at October when October finally spoke.

"Why, mom?" Scarlett picked up a second piece of toast and put it in her mouth.

"You sounded happy, Scar. Are things going well for you? Just yesterday was your father's funeral, and you vanished all of a sudden. You are aware that we can talk at any time, right?" October said.

But can she, though? Can she really open up to her mother? No wonder her dad's family hated her mom.

Before her dad married her mom, her dad's family knew who October was. A drunk.

With her head held high, Scarlett turned to face October. "Shouldn't I be happy? Isn't that what everyone wanted? To see that happy Scarlett?"

October nodded. "Yes, hun. Everyone wants that. Everyone wants you to be happy, but I am concerned for you. You left yesterday and didn't even return any of our calls."

Scarlett smiled while chewing her food. "You shouldn't be worried. I am fine."

"No, you are not!" Mia yelled as she fixed her gaze on Scarlett.

Scarlett began to chuckle. "What is your problem? I'm good, Mia."

"Then, will you disregard what occurred last night? When you were late returning home, concerning the blood mom, me, and Belly saw?" Mia tried her hardest not to cry, but she couldn't help it. She was sobbing, and Scarlett could see the tears rolling down Mia's face. "What happened to you, Scar? Were you hurt? Is Daddy's death connected to this? Did you leave all of a sudden because you couldn't stay at the funeral any longer?" Mia added.

Scarlett scoffed. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't have any blood on me. And this isn't about Daddy." She flatly denied it and wished they would talk about something else. She sighed and turned her attention away from Mia. "I am fine, guys. Regarding the blood you mentioned, I have no knowledge."

"Scarlett, we saw them, though. What happened to you last night? Why didn't you pick up the phone when I called?" Isabella asked, scouring Scarlett's body for bruises. She couldn't find anything.

It appeared as though nothing had happened to Scarlett, and there was no proof that anything had in fact happened.

"Belly, I left my phone in the car." After drinking some water, Scarlett moved her empty plate forward and cleaned her lips with the napkin. She stood up and reached out to her family with her hands. "Look, I have no bruises on me."

October asked. "All right then, why don't we see what you wore yesterday? And I don't mean the dress I bought for you to wear; I mean the one you came home with. A white and blue gown. I'll let you go if there isn't any blood on them."

Scarlett scoffed. Once more, her mother was ruining everything for her. "There you go again, mom, interfering in something that doesn't concern you."

"Manners, Scarlett." Belly remarked as she stood up. "You know, I have always supported you, but I won't let you talk to Mom like that. I also want to see the clothes you were wearing yesterday. You can do whatever you want around the house without me bugging you if there isn't any blood in them."

"What do you mean?" Belly's sentences made Scarlett seem confused.

"The funeral was yesterday, so Principal Peggy called and gave you a two-week holiday." Mia said.

Scarlett laughed, but it was a frustrating laugh this time. "But Belly, I have exams coming up and I need to study. You are all aware of the hard work I have put into this."

"There is plenty of room for you to study in the house. You can also invite Avery and Cornelia over, but you are not permitted to leave the house until we are informed of what happened to you last night."

Scarlett rolled her eyes, scowled, and crossed her arms. "And who are you to tell me what to do? My dad?" She spoke differently. Scarlett was shocked by the way she had spoken to her older sister. Scarlett wouldn't have done that under any circumstances; she wasn't sure where the confidence had come from.

Scarlett felt terrible for being so impolite to Belly. She respected Belly, but Belly supported October, and Scarlett hated October.

When they heard the change in Scarlett's tone, Belly, Mia, and October were all shocked.

"Scarlett!" October, who had been anxiously watching Scarlett and Belly exchange words, felt compelled to offer a mild rebuke. "That is enough. I have heard enough of your shenanigans." She inhaled deeply. "Is this about your father? You have to grieve and stop acting strong!" She yelled.

"Daddy is gone!" Scarlett yelled in response before lowering her pitch. Her fist was clenched. "He is gone, and he is not coming back. How am I supposed to be okay with that?" Scarlett made a valiant effort to hide her tears. She shook her head. "You know what? I don't think I am in the mood to stay around you people right now. Most especially you, mother."

Scarlett gave October a quick glance before averting her gaze. She picked up her bag off the floor and tightly clung to her car key. Then, pretending to smile, she spoke in a cool manner. "Family, I'm going to school." She looked Belly in the eyes, grinned slyly, and moved toward the door.

Scarlett turned her head to look at her family and said, "Don't try to stop me because you might see the worst in me if you do."
