Lestat can go all night without saying a word if Alice doesn't ask him.

But Alice's closeness was not in vain. At first Lestat would only carry her up the tree when she made a sound, but later he would come down and carry her up without her having to say anything.

Alice was quite an active person, but for unknown reasons, she loved spending time with Lestat. Even when they didn't say anything, she felt so comfortable and happy that she would sometimes fall asleep in his arms in the soft moonlight.

When she woke up and got bored, she would open her sleepy eyes and ask Lestat some nonsensical questions in a sticky voice.

"Lestat, how old are you?"

"Fourteen."

"Oh ... is ten years older than me. So what do you like to do in your spare time?"

"Read books."

"Huh, me too yeah! Though right now I can't read. So what do you like to read?"

"Astronomy."

"Awesome! How many stars are there in the sky?"
