Chapter 51

Tara

THE loud noise woke me up. I immediately moved my arm to reach for Connor, but he was not in bed anymore. The comforter slid down to my waist when I sat up, blinking away the sleep from my system. I shivered at the loss of warmth as I was only wearing Connor’s shirt and nothing else.

It was still dark outside. When I looked at the clock on the bedside table, I saw that it was just half-past one in the morning. I wonder where Connor could be.

There was another sound from downstairs so I hurriedly got out of bed. I went to get a pair of jeans from the closet and hastily put them on before getting out of the room. I saw that the lights were on and there were some hushed voices from the kitchen as I walked down the stairs.

I could sense my mate’s presence nearby but I couldn’t pinpoint who the others were. I stopped in the doorway and merely looked at the men who were seated around the kitchen island.
