Emily is considered a curse by her father, who abandoned her to live alone in the countryside the day she was born. However, when Emily comes of age, her father asks her to marry another man in place of her sister. She fights back but is poisoned by her father and stepmother, leaving her mute and without her wolf. Her fiancé, Alpha Klaus, is said to be nothing more than a head wolf with an empty title, and he's short-tempered and cruel, but is that really the case? "Tell me, why did you run away from your marriage?" Alpha Klaus puffed on his cigarette, sunglasses hiding his face, "Did you not want to marry me because you were afraid of me?" She fled, he chased. Wherever she was, he found her. She was treated like grass by her family, he treated her like a treasure. He sheltered her from the wind and rain and healed her from all her wounds. He took her in his arms, a warm snort in her face, and he whispered in her ear, "Emily, I ask you to think of me every day, just as I miss you." I want the rest of your memories to be with me. " Note: This book deals with adult content, violence and dark magic.

Chapter 17 Do You Still Want to Run Away?

It was the first time Emily had seen Klaus take off his sunglasses, and she was dumbfounded. I didn't expect him to be so handsome.

His features seemed to be carefully crafted to perfection, the contours of his face were like the smooth strokes of a master's brush, his eyebrows radiated a determined strength, one of his green eyes was like a shining gem, while the other was dark green, as dull as a deep pool.

Is that why he always wears sunglasses? He didn't want to be seen in a different light.

Emily stared at him blankly, and was jolted out of her trance just as his fingers broke through the white steam and were about to touch her cheek.

So, she quickly pulled the handle of the glass shower door and shut him out. She turned her head, not daring to look at him, until she heard the bathroom door close.

Emily leaned her back against the glass door as she struggled to catch her breath, the hot water spraying over her body and the air filled with the remnants of Klaus's scent.

If she had gone further, she really didn't know what would have happened next.

Emily, stay sane. Don't indulge in his beauty, even though he is handsome. You're only husband and wife in name; do you want that to change?

Emily felt her face burning, and her body strangely hot.

So, she turned the water down to its lowest temperature, and as the cold water washed over her face repeatedly, her fluctuating emotions finally calmed.

When Emily got dressed and entered the drawing room, she saw Klaus sitting on the sofa with the map in his hand.

"I guess you should explain what this means?" Klaus put on his sunglasses, covering his face again.

Oops, he found the map. Emily was annoyed that she should have hidden the map earlier, knowing he would be back.

So, Emily found a pen and paper and wrote the words "Just curious" on the paper.

"Just curious?" Klaus shook the map in his hand, "But the places you marked are all borders. What makes you curious about the border areas?"

Emily wrote on another piece of paper: I didn't know those places were borders.

Well, even if he found out something, what could he do to her, so long as she didn't admit it?

"Do you still want to lie to me?" Klaus tore the map apart and stepped towards Emily, "Looks like you like to run."

Emily shook her head hastily in denial, and there was a trace of weakness in her eyes.

"How about we play a game of hide and seek?" Klaus's mouth curved into a sly smile, a mischievous glint in his eyes, and his voice was filled with challenge. "You can have three chances to hide, and if I can't find you each time, then you win the game, and I'll send you back to the south. But if I find you every time, then you'll have to follow my arrangements and stay by my side obediently in the future."

When Emily heard this, she couldn't help feeling a little perplexed. Was he serious? She could hardly believe her ears. She looked at Klaus, trying to read the answer in his eyes.

Klaus looked at Emily with a sneer, his eyes full of confidence, as if he had already foreseen the outcome of the game. He said softly, "Just give it a try."

Klaus then drove Emily out of the hotel, parking the car on the side of the road. He took out his phone and showed Emily the time, saying, "It's two o'clock in the morning, and our game ends at six o'clock. We'll meet back here after six if I don't find you."

"Now, the game begins." Klaus's voice was full of defiance.

Emily was secretly pleased, thinking to herself, I bet you won't find me.

So, she pushed the car door open and immediately ran down the road. As she ran, she looked back, and Klaus's car was still parked, and he didn't seem to be pursuing her.

Emily said to herself, "Run; there are three chances, and I'll certainly win at least one." She hurried through the crowd, beneath the underpass, and boarded the subway to the next intersection. She darted into an unoccupied alley and hid in the darkness, but instead of stopping, she continued running.

Klaus sat in his car, lighting a cigarette as he watched Emily's figure disappear. He was not in a hurry, so he smoked slowly. When he had finished his cigarette, he stepped out of the car. He took a deep breath, then gathered his thoughts. Finally, he caught a whiff of a familiar sweetness.

The game was officially on.
