Family Breakfast

"Where is Dione? Is she still asleep?" Their mother asked as Eleonora and Theo ate their breakfast.

"Sleeping at a friend's, maybe." Eleonora shrugged. Knowing full well where her sister was since Dione had left her a messy text last night. Turned out her and Klaus were really mates and they spend the night together.

"Young lady, spill it." Her father said. Leave it to her father to know when she's hiding something.

"Sorry dad, but that's nothing for me to tell. My lips are sealed. The only answer you get from me is that she's sleeping at a friend's house."

"Male or female?" Her mother asked startled. "Could she have found her mate last night?" She continued more excitedly. "God, she's the youngest of you but still found her mate first. I wonder who it is."

"No way that she found her mate." Her father and Theo said almost simultaneously.

"Oh darling, your girls are growing up and you have to let them. Dione is already 18, legally you can't stop her anymore." Her mother sang in a sweet voice, obviously happy for her daughter, even if it wasn't confirmed yet.

"She's still my baby girl." Her dad said, while stuffing his mouth with pancakes.

"And she'll always be your baby girl." Her mother placed a kiss on his forehead and the wrinkles on his forehead lessoned at the touch. "What did you two do for the rest of the night?" She was facing Eleonora and Theo now.

"Better question is what you two did and who you met last night?" Eleonora said while poking at her food, she hated to be kept in the dark. She looked up at her parents who looked rather baffled on what to say. "I saw you leave with Tony; did something happen at the border? Any rogues or other packs?"

"It was about the rogues and their movements." Eleonora watched as her father explained, she didn't expect an answer, but he was giving one, and he didn't seem to be lying. "Some friends of another pack had been keeping their eyes out for them and told us their news."

'Strange that they had to come all the way to the territory to talk about that, a simple phone call would have been enough for that.' Eleonora thought. "So, what are the news?"

"The number of rogue sightings is getting bigger, but we don't know if the rogues are connected in any way." Her father said, finishing his explanation as he got up from his seat. "I have to speak to Tony now. We have to decide on whom to send to our neighboring pack, the Crescent Moon Pack for support."

The Crescent Moon Pack, a rather small pack, but they had been allies over generations, even before her father merged with another pack and widened his territory. The Crescent Moon Pack lived in a small territory, and they had a tight community, it was already a wonder that they took help from another pack. But the number of members of the White Claw Pack is almost five times as big as the one of the Crescent Moon Pack. Well, you had to consider quality over quantity, but Eleonora was proud to say that their pack didn't lack in any of those aspects.

"What will you two do today?" Her mother asked.

"I wanted to improve our security a bit but I'm still waiting on a few things that I ordered." Eleonora said. She had thought about the security of the pack since she was attacked and couldn't do much other than lay around and work online. The houses in the territory were mostly secure but she wanted to strengthen the border too.

"Oh, there was a big box in front of the club house this morning. There wasn't a name on the package, only our address. One of the pack members accepted it."

Eleonora shot up from her seat. "I'll be back later." And she rushed over, taking her last pancake into her hand and opening the front door with her free one.

A big carton stood in front of the club house. Some people must have moved it to the side under the roof to keep it safe from the rain that was pouring down since morning. Eleonora rose her index finger into the air and her nail turned into a long claw. She cut open the package that reached higher than her waist and pushed the cardboard lid open to see what was inside.

She had to make her way past some paper that was protecting the things inside. She smiled as she saw the contents that she had ordered a week ago. Many small cameras came into her vision. She had bought enough thermal cameras and motion detectors to cover the whole border. She had already planned out where to place them and was eager to finish this little project. No living creature could make its way inside without being noticed that way. Even the smallest of birds would be recognized by the motion detector and someone in the control room could check the cameras to see if something was wrong.

She would have to gather a few people when the weather was clearer to install everything. She hoped this would take some pressure off the people on patrol and that it would let the people inside feel safer too. Still, the patrol at the border was needed since machines and technology could always fail or have an error.

She closed the package again and returned home, a smile on her lips. As she entered her room again, she was pushed to the ground something heavy resting on her. The smell that flooded her nose told her it was Dione, without having to see her first.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." Dione squealed, tightening her hug with every thank you she gave.

"I'm- no- breathing!" Eleonora huffed with the last of her breath.

"Oh, sorry." Dione retreated her arms with a guilty smile.

Eleonora sighed deeply. "Come on spill it." She could see that Dione was about to burst from the tension of telling something important.

"I found my mate!" She screamed. Eleonora only laughed, while they were still sitting on the floor. "You're not surprised." Dione stated disappointed rather than asked.

"Well, a really shy Klaus came to me last night."

"I knew it wasn't a coincidence that you texted me, but he was the one who showed up."

"So how was it?" Dione's face turned bright red, probably from remembering what went on last night. "Guess you're not a virgi-" Eleonora was stopped by the sudden touch of hands on her mouth.

"Shush!" She squealed, her face turning even redder. "Dad could hear."

Eleonora pushed the hand from her mouth and stood up. "Dad is out with Tony. Let's go in now." She settled down on her bed and heard a sigh of relieve escape Dione's lips.

"So, did you sleep with Klaus?" She asked as Dione settled down next to her.

Dione had the color of a tomato by now. "Well-" She stopped, fiddling with her fingers as if trying to find the correct answer. "Yes." She shoots out, her eyes closed. "What do I do now?" She looked at Eleonora pleading.

"Well, what do you think? Didn't he confess to you? He told me he had a crush on you, hoping you were his mate."

"He did just that." She took a deep breath. "I slept at his place last night and woke up this morning. Well- cuddling him. It was so strange." She paused. "I mean I never had a boyfriend so you can't blame me."

"Blame you for what?" Eleonora asked, a look of confusion on her face. She thought her sister had a beautiful night with her mate. They had both feelings for each other, so she supported it. Well, that would change if Klaus did anything to hurt her little sister.

"I -" She took another deep breath. "I left while he was still asleep. What if he things I didn't like it, or don't like him? What if he thought it was bad? What if he doesn't want to be together with me."

"Oh Dede." Eleonora smiled at her innocent little sister.

"I'm a horrible person." Tears started to form in her eyes.

Eleonora grabbed her shoulders tight. "Hey, listen here! You didn't do anything wrong. It's fine to leave if you're not feeling good or if you were just overwhelmed. I can't speak for Klaus but I'm sure he isn't mad or takes back his confession because of this. As far as I know there is no right or wrong in this. You can always take a few steps back and think about it. And if he doesn't wait, or if he pressures you into anything, that is wrong."

Dione moved in for a hug. "Thanks."

"Do you already know what you want to do next?"

"I guess I should talk to Klaus." She said, a guilty look on her face. It seemed it hurt her too that she left early in the morning without saying as much as a goodbye.

"Don't worry. Theo and I will kick his ass if he does anything wrong to you." Eleonora giggled and Dione joined in.
