'He will betray you!'

'That woman is lying to you!' 

The voices in his mind screamed louder, drowning out everything else. 

"Don't move!" Fang Xuan shouted, and raised his sword. 

Ma Lifen froze, her heart pounding in her chest as she saw the sword pointed at her. She glanced at him searching his eyes for any sign of the person she once knew, but all she saw was the pain that had consumed him. 

"I'm not your enemy," She lifted her hands slowly, showing she had no intention of fighting back. 

"Then prove it," he growled, his eyes narrowing as he tightened his grip on the sword. 

Ma Lifen swallowed hard, her mind racing for a way to reach him. "How?"

He paused, his expression cold as he shifted his gaze to the trio tied in fear.

An idea twisted in his mind, and he turned back to her, his voice calm but filled with cruelty.
