Consternation On The Cobble

My head felt fuzzy as a cold breeze crosses over my skin. I shivered and searched around for a blanket but I was just met with a rough and scratchy feeling under my hand. I struggled to open my eyes as I felt around even more. There seemed to be a slight white glow in the air causing me to think I fell out of bed and the moon light was casting a weird glow on the dust. But that thought soon left me as I heard a man's voice call out to me.

"Hello little lovely~." The man's voice sounded playful as if calling to a pet. Panic spread throughout my mind. For a second I believed I was hearing things, for how would an unknown man be in my house. That thought seemed to be a serious question as a shadow casted over me. I then thought someone broke into my apartment, but with the scratchy feeling under my hand, it not being my carpet, allowed the only other reason to sink in.

My blurry vision suddenly became clear, sliding backwards as questions flooded my mind. My eyes fix onto the person infront of me and I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing. He was a tall man wearing extravagant clothing that crossed between the European medieval times and ancient Japanese clothing. The fabric was a lavish forest green and was decorated in intricate gold embroidery. He had shoulder length moss colored hair and bright green eyes. His smile was one of a silver snakes that gave anyone a cold shiver.

His eyes glinted in amusement by my reaction causing him to venture closer. The ground I sat on was of a old cobbled road that was obscured slightly by the grey fog. I rested my hand on top of moist soil as my movement backwards came to an abrupt stop. Behind me was a tall stone wall that had trees stretching it branches from the other side of the wall.

"Let me help you up, Love.~" the man offered me a hand but I only pushed it away.

"Where the hell am I? Who are you!?" My voice sounds rough and raspy as I slowly try to stand up and face him.

My balance suddenly feels thrown off and I fall against the stranger. "We only just met and you're already falling for me.~" He mused only to himself. I couldn't help but feel disgusted and wanting nothing more than to be away from him.

"Don't act so cocky, bastard. Where am I!?" I pushed myself away and lean against the wall while clutching my side. I could feel a burning sensation in my lungs before a light glow fell faint in the air. The fog became a static mess as a white glow came between us both. I flinch in fear at the sight of the unknown object. The mans eyes seem to change from playfulness to shocked and then to cold and lifeless.

I could hear my ears start to ring and my vision starts to blur again as the man tries to move closer yet again. Adrenaline kicks through my blood convincing my mind that all I could do was run. As the man seemed distracted I started to limp away as fast as I could, using the wall to prop myself up. The cold cobble moved swiftly under my hands as the pain in my lungs died down. I coughed sickly for a spare second and leaned against the wall to catch my breath and let my lung heal.

During that time I saw another figure approach through the fog. I cough again as I try to keep myself prompted up in defense. The figure must have heard me for the moved swiftly in my direction. As they approached I could see the striking crimson dress coat the person wore. The dark gold threading that embroidered the coat sparkled under the pale moon that peaked out between the over stretching branches, making the individual seem ghostly.

I blinked for just a moment and in that single moment I saw them and how they weren't alone. Another person stood next to them one that had a deep orange dress coat that was also decorated in lavish gold embroidery. I looked back to the first I saw from the fog and took in his short jet black hair and soulless black eyes. They were as black as void itself, a nothing that consumed light.

His companions face, however, was obscured behind him and all I could see of his head was his striking red hair. The man with black hair approached me as I finally got in my second wind. "W-wha...where am I?" I tried my best to keep my voice from shaking and to seem coherent in the mind.

The man snarled at me, almost disgusted at the meer sight of me. "How the bloody hell did the likes of you get past the first gates?" His question was demanding, no, threatening me of an answer. It took me a moment to process what he said before I approached him.

"You don't understand!" My voice sounded almost pleading as I grab onto his collar like it was the last bit of my sanity. "I was home, sleeping, and now I'm here and another man is-." A sickly cough escapes me, causing me to let go and cover my mouth. The man took this as an opportunity to push me off in disgust. I fall to the ground and grimace at the pain that filled my lungs again. Another white glow fills the fog and the air becomes static.

A loud crack can be heard through the air as white and black sparkles fly in the air. The man looks at me with eyes only filled with disbelief for a brief moment turn to face me with clarity. This clarity however was something of malicious nature. But before I could figure what it was two other figures find there way through the fog, one being the green fellow I met before, the other behind him seemed to wear something purple.

My head buzzes in panic again and my lung starts to catch fire. "No! The Hell! Not you!" I slide back in fear of the approaching man and his friend. I only glance at the man with black eyes for a moment before deciding to run again. As I turn to leave I see sparks starting to flicker around me and the sounds of impacting forces break loose behind.

All I could do is run for there is no place I could hide. No place where I was safe here. I run for as long and as far as my legs could take me which lead me to a metal gate. Lamps glowed a faint yellow on the other side, calling in safety and warmth. Behind me I could hear shouting causing me to man handle the cold iron bars. I start to climb higher and higher until I'm almost at the top of the gate.

"You there, stop!" A voice calls out but I don't stop moving until they shout again. "You climbing the gate, stop!" At that moment any movement I was going to make halted. I could feel my breathing slow to a near stop causing my head to feel fuzzy. I began to lean to one side and fall off the gate. More shouting could be heard as I fell. I tried to brace myself but my arms wouldn't move and my head wouldn't turn. Before what I new next I felt light and soft for a second and then hitting the ground face first.

After I while I had feeling in my arms and face again. I rub my forehead, wincing in pain as I feel a slight bump starting to form. I tried pushing my body up again but my legs felt like jelly. Not long after the four men that were chasing me came close enough for me to hear their heavy breathing. I tried not to look at them and reach for a loose rock that sat infront of me.

My grip was weak as I pulled it towards me. The funny feeling in my lungs still hasn't fully disappeared making me weary of what was to come. I saw there shuffling feet come to an abrupt stop as they stood there, talking amongst themselves.

"We need to get her to calm down." One of them stated firmly. The air felt chilly under the silence that fallowed and one of them decided to approach. In my state of fear I prepared to throw the rock. As I lifted it up to throw the stone felt like a hot ember, burning my skin. I weakly threw it causing it to only land a few feet away from me, glowing white.

Before I could see anything else happen the rock exploded in a bright, white light. I cover my eyes in pain and shock.

'Did that rock just become a flash bomb!?'

The question rings clear in my head for a second. But that second allowed me to start crawling away. I don't know we're I was going but I know I moved past the group. They also seemed to be confused for a second, allowing the light to blind them. "Gah-! To hell with all!" I heard one of them scream over the pain filled cries from the rest. Slowly I regained my sight and saw I was a little ways past them and crawling down the path I ran down before. After this realization I tried my hardest to stand.

'Come On! Just stand up!'

I internally yelled at myself but my legs barely kept me grounded in any attempt. Even though the fog was thick enough to the point I couldn't see them, I could still hear them shouting. They sounded angry and frantic, and without a doubt regaining there sight.

"Where did she go!?" The angry voice echoed down the path.

"She couldn't have went over the fence, could she?" Another asks in curiosity but even I know how uncertain they were.

'Come on! This is my chance to get farther away!'

I try to convince myself to stand up once more but it only lead to me falling against the stone wall I've been fallowing. I must have been too caught up in my own thoughts for I had been found.

"Lovely~ what are you doing now~?" His tone was calm and sweet but those words only mocking and lined in a chilly anger. I felt a warm hand press against my arm, causing me to jump in surprise. I turn to slap the person away causing me to fall. I kept my head down, realizing I have nowhere to run. In my defeated state the person reach out a hand to me, the hand belonging to the man with red hair.

His eyes were closed but he offered a princely smile. It felt like a scene out of a fairytale, one were the prince had a decorative porcelain mask. This alone made he hesitant to take his open hand, but something else made my blood run cold. "It's ok, I'm here to help." As his calm, caring words caused my face to flush red his eyes made my heart stop beating for a second.

It could have been because the smile didn't reach his eyes, causing everything to seem off. It could have also been the falsehood the eyes themselves had, covered in a vale of fleeting warmth. But what I know really allowed fear to settle in at an irrational sense was the bright cadmium yellow. Those eyes seemed to glow under that color, that unnatural color.

My heart starts to beat again, beating at a pace that made my brain to work overtime. "Gah-! The-you!" My words were frantic as I retracted my hand and stubbled backwards, trembling. "I'm dead aren't I!? I'm in hell! You are-" I cut off my own panic as my eyes locked with a pair of green ones. I gulped down the words I was about to say, thinking of a way out.

The pair seem to pause in a momentary time of disbelief. They gave one another a look before the green one bursted out in a long fit of laughter. "Bahaha! Oh dear~ it looks like your charm had the opposite effect then normal, Canary~." The sudden laughter that came from him made my skin jump. Though at this moment his laughing was the least of my problems.

Two of the other males came rushing in causing me to be surrounded by half confused, half rage filled gang. I gulped again in fear as some glance at there hysterical friend. "Enough with these games, you are coming with us to the Headmaster. For even though trust passing is the least of your troubles, this whole situation must be sorted out with his guidance."

With that everything seemed to stand still, as if limbo took time away and left me to sit alone in the unmoving surroundings.
