Chapter 8: Nightmare?

"Aria, Iris where are you guys" Jake spoke with worry as he headed out of his room and headed to the living room. He searched the room and couldn't find them.

'Where are they' Jake thought in his head before he noticed something in the corner of his eye.

Jake headed to the window in the centre of the living room and gazed outside. The view made him shudder.

A giant Thraxian warship was heading for Naru breaking the atmosphere as it slowly floated above the moon.

"Wha- "Before Jake could even finish his sentence, the ship fired its broadside ion cannons at the settlements below causing a miniature nuclear explosion that almost instantly evaporated it. The shockwave reached Jake's position in seconds with the force shattering the glass and sending Jake flying into the wall behind him.

"Ugh 'cough' 'cough' " Jake who was in disarray and had suffered a light concussion woke as he made his way to his parents' bedroom to tell them what had happened.

"Mom, Dad I can't find Iris and Aria and there's a Thraxian ship here and they bl-blew up the town," Jake shouted in panic.

His eyes widened as his breathing fastened. His legs started to shake as he stared at his parents' empty bed.

"MOOM, DAAD, WHERE ARE YOU," Jake screamed as he started to tear up worried to death about his family.

Another sound of explosions was heard as Jake's house started to tremble, the sounds getting closer.

Jake hoped that his family had gotten out as he rushed to the front door.

In front of him stood his father a few meters away with his back turned to him. Jake stood frozen as the atmosphere had changed. The sky turned a light red as a smell of smoke and ash filled his nostrils.

"D-D-dad" Jake's mouth could barely utter a word as his father slowly turned around.

He had a deadpan expression as he stared directly at Jake. Jake noticed that his father was wearing his governor's outfit, however, it was stained with blood.

"Dad, where's mom and the girls," Jake asked his father, yet he got no response.

"DAD!!!" Jake screamed at his father. Victor simply turned around and started slowly walking.

"Dad, wait," Jake shouted as he ran to his father yet just before he could grab his father's hand, a flash of light blinded him as he fell to the ground.

"Chirp, chirp" the sound of birds had awoken Jake as he rubbed his eyelids and looked at the clear blue sky. 'What's happening to me.' Jake thought to himself as he watched the birds fly in the sky.

"Carry me, Daddy." A familiar voice caught Jake's ear as he looked at the clearing in front of him.

His family was there, his mother sitting and laughing with his big sister while his father was carrying Iris on his head.

"MOM!, DAD!" Jake screamed before he ran to his parents. Yet he couldn't move. No matter what he did he couldn't move his body an inch.

'What's Happening To Me.' Jake started to go crazy in his thoughts as he once again felt the atmosphere change.

'No, No, No, No' Jake felt what was happening on Naru was going to happen again.

"MOM, DAD, GET OUT HERE NOW, PLEASE!" Jake screamed as loud as he could as tears flooded down his cheeks.

The sky turned red as Jake heard the same explosions again. He closed his eyes not wanting to see what was about to happen.

When he opened his eyes he wished he had never done so. His family's corpses were stored across the burnt field. Everything around him was burnt and destroyed.

Not a single sound was heard and Jake felt like he was the only living person in the entire universe. A sense of dread and emptiness soon filled Jake's mind as he continued to gaze at his family's bodies.

'Jake.' A soft serene voice called out to Jake as he sobbed on his knees.

'I can help you Jake' Again the voice spoke to Jake as he turned to look at where the voice was coming from.

"W-W-Who are you. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!" Jake could only mask his fear in anger as he lashed out at the voice.

'I can help you protect them' Jake froze as he listened to the voice.

"How" Jake asked the mysterious voice.

The voice did not answer instead a black portal opened up next to him emitting a low ominous hum.

Jake realizing his only option was to go through it, took a deep breath, and looked at his family for one last time before stepping through the portal.

He arrived instantly and was greeted by a gigantic window. He looked through and saw the Kreedian homeworld, like Earth only larger with 3 moon-sized planets orbiting Kreed.

Jake looked around the large metallic room which looked like a viewing area for a large spaceship. With couches, benches tables and chairs placed effectively for a maximum viewing experience, a stark contrast to what Jake had been witnessing just a few moments ago.

"I went through the portal, now tell me how to save my family." Jake's voice echoed in the empty Room.

'I will tell you all you require to know but first, What do you know about destiny?' The voice which appeared to be originating from inside his head spoke up.

"What? Um, My mom said that everyone has a set path for them in life and everyone will end up on the path set for them by destiny. My dad said that there is no such thing as destiny and everyone's life is determined by themselves and themselves alone. " Jake spoke to the mysterious voice.

"And what do you believe Jake?" The voice questioned him again.

"I-I don't know. But I believe in both my parents." Jake said with confidence.

The voice didn't speak as Jake was suddenly transported to another location.

A space station so large Jake couldn't even see the end of it. it was a large spherical metal world that had millions of ships entering and exiting the giant station every minute.

"What is this place?" Jake spoke in astonishment.
