Prisoners

The 'Devil's Assistant' ability wore off early in the morning, Christian's hoodie soaked in crimson blood from those who shot him back at the hospital for taking off with Chara.

Shuffling through town to the park he begins to gradually slow mumbling to himself the further he got on his own two feet.

People would gawk at him as he passed through, Chara would find she is slowly coming to.

"Christian? Where are we?" Chara asked opening her eyes fully.

She started to smack his back several times, he was like a zombie only knowing to keep walking. Chara climbs down from his shoulders knocking Christian down in the process.

He plunges to the ground face first, she quickly notices how bloody his clothes are before moving him on his face; his right eye is half-open.

"Christian...your other eye…" Chara stated.

Chara places her hand on his forehead, lifting his hoodie she observes the bullet wounds oozing.

"Christian, I got to find you help…" She mumbled.

She ends up leaving him to sleep on the ground to find a bystander, a lady who was jogging to stop her in a mid-morning walk.

"Hello!" Chara shouted.

"Hi?" The woman questioned.

"My m-master needs help!" Chara tried to squeeze out through her lungs.

The lady shakes her head to advance forward on her jog, Chara acknowledges how she is dressed, looking back at Christian she purses her lips trembling.

"No one is going to help us here…" Chara said to herself.

Sitting Christian up, his body limps against her. She steadily lifted the heavy bundle onto her back. She watches her feet one step at a time.

"Left foot...right foot...left foot…" Chara says concentrating on moving ahead.

Christian's arms swung to and fro against her face, she trudged along till she could no longer, only to fall over in a heap on the plush green grass.

Placing his hands on his chest, embarrassed she sits down on the grass beside an unconscious Christian. Observing the gaggles of people stroll by she secretly wished she could be one of them.

Fashionable young women participating in life in normalcy, little kids, good-looking men all living a normal life expectancy.

Though Christian was a fine-looking man himself, his short blonde hair was now stained in ruby red blood. She thinks back to when she was very small and trained to magick.

She was always told humanity would never accept her because she had something everyone wanted. Chara at age eighteen was accidentally bitten on a patrol route with her fellow trained wizards and sorceresses.

Chara was sent away to be trained as a vampire, but Everett encouraged her to continue her magick as it never left her body.

Now she is here with an "Igor" who was meant to be Alex's, right-hand man.

"Hello, are you okay?" A voice called out to her.

Looking up she finds a witch completely in black in the front of her with her hands on her hips.

"Don't play dumb! You must know who I am!" Chara shouted.

"Is it that obvious?" She asked flipping her pink hair in the air.

"What do you want?" Chara whispered in a low voice.

Bringing her gloved hand to her face, she gives a hearty giggle. Leaning down she can lift Christian up without any trouble.

"Just come with me already, his face is red from fever." She stated, "You need clothes."

"Who are you?" Chara questioned.

"My name is Saniya...call me nothing else."

Pulling a cellphone from her pocket she talks in a very low voice. When she is done she drops it in the front of her shirt.

Chara finds her face redden in the sight of this confident witch. How is she allowed to have a hobble in the human world and not in the veil she thought.

A black car veers a sharp turn making sure to pull exactly up beside the small crew of people, someone in the back seat takes Christian, Saniya drops a seat over to observe his features.

Chara gets in last, she feels completely jealous as she gasps turning his head even slightly.

"What is wrong with you?" Chara howled, "He already serves a clan!"

"Oh...I know Chara…"

"Who is your family Saniya? Why do you know my name?"

"You were sold to the Everett clan, my what a pretty one here," Saniya explained.

"Let us out!" She demanded.

"If you get out I will take this boy for myself…" Saniya replied licking the dried blood off his cheek.

The tired maid turned to look out the window instead, she ends up falling asleep against the cold window from the car circulating cold air inside.

Saniya opens the car door on her side when they arrive to have Chara fall to the ground. Chara gets up to realize they are located in a large cottage far off from the rest of the world.

The old cottage was painted white with a brown roof slowly coming apart at the top.

"Jamie, please bring in the 'Igor'" Saniya says.

Chara marvels over how well taken care the yard was, a small witches shrine sits in front of the entrance of the building.

Getting inside was even odder to Chara, all the corners carry a prevalent witch symbol or statue. There is almost no furniture.

The maid follows behind Jamie holding Christian in his hands, glancing around she thinks for a moment she saw someone look outside one of the doors to pop back in quickly.

Jamie stops Chara at the door with his hand passing whom they called an 'Igor' to what looked like a bunch of doctors packed like sardines in a tiny room.

It was like a surrealistic black and white picture with doctors in scrubs and hats and goggles burned into her retina. This house felt magical in a dark, eerie, and twisted way.

"We will tell you when it is safe to visit him okay?" Jamie announced to the frozen maid.

The dwelling doesn't look big enough to carry as many doors as she is seeing in front of her.

She double takes the more examines the surroundings around her, many unique devices laying around the place. Spices and herbs hail high in the racks above her.

Chara felt disoriented by everything, Saniya pokes her in the back with her index finger spooking her from behind. Saniya places new clothing in her arms.

"From this point on you, both are now prisoners." Saniya points out.

"P-prisoners?" Chara shouted.

"Thanks to Dominique...he brilliantly executed my plans…"

"Dominique…"

"There are a couple more guests for you to greet when you feel up to it." Saniya clarified.

"A couple more guests?"

"Of course, I wouldn't want you to be lonely would I?" Saniya answered.

"What do you want with Christian in your cottage prison?"

"Face it, there is no way he would make it if left to the elements Chara…" Saniya stated.

Chara became silent, she knew she was right. Christian is human still and working under pressure to become something more to the clan.

"H-he will be safe?" Chara asked.

"I guarantee it Chara, please trust me…"

Saniya puts her hand out to shake, Chara hesitates a couple of seconds peering up at her grin.

"Save my master...I will stay put Saniya."

She is handed a clipboard, Chara stares at it before understanding it is actually a damage report.

"Most of the pain came from his eye Chara."

"Are you serious? It's that sensitive?" Chara answered confused.

"My instructions were to only a little damage, but Dominique tried to pry it out."

"How could you do this to him?" Chara yelled out.

"Simple...now go get dressed. I need to rest before the next red moon."

Chara watches her stroll down the long corridor, the hall seemed to warp as she moved shifting to the side and Saniya seemed to just vanish out of thin air.
