Moonlight miracle

A loud screaming could be heard on the other side of the hall, I knew automatically it was Alice. She was in so much pain, she was being tormented as her shrieks echoed in the corridors. I placed a pillow over my head to try to cover the sound, but nothing worked. 

Getting up I follow the sound to the source where it was leading me to one of the many rooms I have never visited before. Walking down another long flight of steps, treading lightly I hear the squeak of lanterns and people whispering. 

Obscured silhouettes rise and fall in stature against the wall changing shapes as it went on to my surprise. 

I was so confused about what could be happening in someone's bed-chamber, the screaming started up again. Masking my ears with my hands, I tread in the shadows till I reach the front of the door.
