Prologue

The Frontier

A very famous fantasy roleplaying game that was played by thousands of gamers around the world. What's unique about the game was that you have the freedom on what to do in the game. All you need to do is create your own character and finish the tutorial. Afterwards, you could pretty much do whatever you want. You can make your character as an adventurer and make a living by clearing quests. There is also an option to live peacefully by making your own cabin near a mountain. The world in The Frontier game is huge and the quests and achievements you get are generated depending on what you have done and what decisions you made.

Most gamers play the adventurer route. They kill the monsters and raise their ranks to build prestige. A number play the domestic route that involves farming, mining, fishing, smithing, and alchemy. There are also players who manage their own territory gained through clearing missions generated by the system.

You could say that one can live their fantasy while playing the game.

But what if you could actually turn that fantasy into reality?

"Thanks for coming!" The cashier bowed as he bid farewell to the customer.

"It really is a pain to get food this late at night." The young man murmured as he exited the convenience store.

How I wished I didn't forget to have food delivered before the shop closed. He thought as he walked straight to his apartment.

It took him 10 minutes to arrive home and immediately sat in front of his computer desk. He booted his computer as the plastic rustled when he was getting his food with his other hand.

While waiting for the computer to load, he opened the food container and the smell of the newly microwaved chicken wafted around his room.

"Nothing beats the smell of fried chicken when hungry at this time of the night." He said as he enjoyed the fragrance of his food.

*crunch*

He took a bite at his crispy chicken as he waited for the game to load. After a few more bites, he finally reached the main interface.

The character he was playing was quite different from the usual players. Only those who cleared difficult quests and reached certain achievements can take the same role.

Frontier Administrator

It is a job where he is tasked to maintain a territory. From managing the supplies to recruiting the workforce, the job is akin to a mayor of a city and a king of a kingdom. The only difference is that he governs the place that is not under the jurisdiction of a certain country.

Currently, the territory he governs is located at the easternmost side of the continent. It was a town that was surrounded by a forest. At first, the place was deserted. When he first obtained the rights to govern, he could only see an abandoned field with a couple of broken houses. It took him almost half a year of in real life time to rebuild the abandoned territory into a decent town to live.

Clicking noises can be heard as he played the game. The same noise coupled with the tapping of the keys repeated for almost an hour.

*ring*

Mail has been received.

"Huh?" The man wondered and clicked the mail icon that was blinking at the top right of the screen.
