'Human greed is a vile thing.' Mizuki was not stupid by any means. The moment she realized her life was being targeted she left to live alone. The inheritance would let her live nicely until the age of 40 at the least but she was not content with that and started to do work in the stock market. Mizuki was now living in a moderately sized apartment near her school. She had multiple bodyguards that were receiving quite the large salary so she was not afraid of losing her life before even getting married.... But.. "Human greed really is a vile thing. Is it not?" Now in another world where power decides everything human greed is not the biggest problem she will face. But bare in mind reader. Reincarnation is not that uncommon. (art ain't mine)

Quick Tests and Quick Money

"..."

Slightly rubbing her eyelids before letting out a quiet sigh, Mitsuna crossed her arms and tilted her head.

'What did I even expect? The stat increases keep getting more and more ridiculous, it wouldn't be surprising if I could start fistfighting level 500+ golems when I reach the next tier.'

"Yikes."

Mitsuna unconsciously said out loud as she saw the increase in her stats since that was the thing that caught her attention first.

Scratching her cheek, she looked at how many levels she had gained.

'... I was expecting a bigger level increase considering the over 100 level difference but 58 levels is basically an explosion of power so I don't think I am allowed to complain, besides, it's logical that increasing levels will get harder over time...

Honestly, it still feels like I'm cheating considering my Title boosts and bloodline benefits.'

Mitsuna let out a sigh as she glanced through the notifications again but not finding anything of interest.

Closing the system interface, for now, she decided not to use her Ability Points since too big of an increase would be extremely difficult to control.

So, she stood still while closing her eyes and taking a few deep breaths and analysing her body, trying to feel every change that had occurred.

'I can sense my surroundings better now, probably an effect of the stat increase.'

Mitsuna thought as she focused on the absurd amount of mana her body could now hold.

As she waited for her passive regeneration to fill her mana back up, she couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable.

Frowning as she focused on her body, she couldn't help but feel as though her body was holding more mana than it should be able to.

Opening her eyes, she hopped in place once and loosened her body.

Letting out a deep breath, she gathered a portion of her maximum mana at her fist and punched forward after a moment.

Extreme winds blew in the direction she had punched.

Frowning, she noticed how she had barely lost any mana. Opening her extended fist, she turned her hand and clutched the air without closing her hand into a fist.

Preemptively creating a thick mana barrier, Mitsuna studied the mana around her fist.

Condensing the mana she had gathered, she constructed an orb of pure mana. Not being able to analyse it, Mitsuna narrowed her eyes and gripped the solid mana orb.

Cracks appeared on its surface as it started to morph. The instability caused it to expand slightly before erupting into an explosion almost just as powerful as the golem's battery.

Reinforcing her barrier as she could see a crack and sense danger, she waited for the situation to calm down.

'I didn't use an extreme amount of mana, it was barely even a fraction of the pickaxe spell I used before.

The reaction might be due to no spell or magic circle being in place to disperse the mana efficiently.'

She thought before taking a breath.

'... I feel lighter now.'

For a moment she felt as normal before her body was filled to the brim with mana and she again felt slightly uncomfortable, stuffed even.

Deciding to test her mana and investigate the uncomfortable feeling she felt later, she sent out her senses as everything around her felt more clear to her.

It was as if she could almost see in every direction even with her eyes closed. Yet it was still as if she was looking through blurred and dirty glass, she could sense her surroundings but not in great detail.

Moving her body around, she felt more weight behind her actions.

Creating a small stone pillar that rose from the ground, she tested her strength by punching it.

Obliterating it to dust with a simple attack that wasn't even aided by mana, the side of her mouth twitched as she created a second pillar.

This time she held back quite a bit.

The pillar had a portion of it blown away but remained standing even as half of it crumbled.

Looking at her hand, Mitsuna thought.

'I have a certain degree of understanding over my current strength but not of my limits. So I need to add testing the limits of my strength to the list.'

She thought with a quiet click of her tongue as she turned and started to walk away while observing the area, trying to find anything that was left over from the golem's body.

'Get money for the inn, register for the army, tinker with the bullets, further test the limits of my abilities, find out why my body feels so uncomfortable and fix that if I can, find more clues and info about Natash, maybe win the war and whatever else may pop up out of nowhere. Jeez. Coming to the West really stopped me from resting for a bit. The East was so much more of a vacation spot when ignoring the sword battles, psychopaths falling from the sky and perverts just appearing in your room.'

"*Yawn~*"

She stretched her body as she felt a familiar gaze from the side.

Turning her head, a slight grin appeared on her face.

"Well, I can check one thing off the list."

Turning and teleporting to the shattered but still functional remains of the red orb eye from the scorpion golem, she observed as the green dot, the pupil of the orb, still stayed glued to her.

"Even after death, you can't keep your eyes off me, huh?"

The shards of the orb were slowly fixing themselves with the help of the small amount of ambient mana around the area.

Reaching out her hand, Mitsuna was shocked to see a bullet hit her palm and send some vibrations through her arm.

"Tch. Stealing a lady's own bullets to use against her? Cheeky."

As the slightly bleeding scratch on her palm healed after a moment and the vibrations had done no damage to her arm, she gathered the loose red shards and stuck them in a bag she made out of sand.

"I'll keep you with me for now. Since I can't throw you in my inventory you can stay and enjoy the homely view of sand, sand and sand."

Activating the spell she had used to get here, she scanned the horizon as she skated off.

'I came from this way I believe.'

She thought while jumping over a sand dune, leaving behind a small shockwave.

The speed of her movement had essentially increased from a supercar to an aeroplane as she left a trail of dust and sand in her wake.

...

Arriving at the gates as the sun was setting, Mitsuna had deactivated her spell a while ago since she didn't want to send a dust cloud at the city. Walking up to the guards she showed her identification and entered the capital without trouble.

'Every city, town and capital I've visited just doesn't seem safe from a security perspective.'

She thought to herself as she neared the guild building.

Walking up to a receptionist, Mitsuna wordlessly handed over the piece of paper detailing the assignment, the sand bag that held the partially destroyed red eye of the scorpion golem and her identification in case they needed that too.

The receptionist, a woman with pale green hair and brown eyes looked at her in mild confusion as the paper detailed a much higher level of opponent than the level stated on the girl's identification.

Before the receptionist could ask if she wanted to abandon the quest, Mitsuna spoke up first.

"I can hand it in here, right? The assignment didn't detail who I needed to bring proof to."

Mitsuna asked as the bag made of sand crumbled, leaving only the proof of completion and the assignment paper on the counter as a passing breeze from a nearby open window pushed the sand off the counter.

Blankly staring at the moving remains of a scorpion golem's red eye, the returned assignment and Mitsunas identification, the receptionist stumbled over her words.

"Uh- Ah. Yeah. I-... Yes, you can. This... I'll go get your payment after a quick appraisal of the provided proof, thanks."

The receptionist replied, thanking Mitsuna for some reason before rushing off with the paper and golem eye.

"Yeah, okay."

Mitsuna just said to herself as the receptionist girl had left her there alone and even stolen the 'Thanks' that Mitsuna was prepared to reply with.

'The hired receptionists should be better at acting more professionally. The attention they gather by screaming 'Ehhhh?!!' or 'Nani?!?' or other things along those lines is annoying, to say the least.'

Mitsuna thought with a quiet sigh as she could easily feel the stares burning away at the back of her head.

'Probably a normal reaction. The girl's most likely a new hire or something. Should have just stood in line for a receptionist that seemed professional and could have avoided the staring contest happening behind me.'

Mitsuna thought as she was a little peeved by her choice of receptionist considering she really didn't want to be the centre of attention in every place she showed up in.

A few moments later the stuttering girl came back along with a tall brown-haired man wearing glasses and a brown tailored vest and pants.

'Christ. This already doesn't seem pleasant. I need a damn drink and a nap.'

"You are the one who has provided the materials for the golem extermination assignment, correct?"

"Yeah. Can I get my payment now?"

Mitsuna asked without letting the man get a word in after her casual 'Yeah'.

"We will quickly fill out a form for completion so your party may receive the contribution points and, depending on current standing, go up in rank since the defeated monster was a variable mutation."

The man said, leaving no room to refuse as he started writing information on a piece of paper.

"Party name ple-"

"No."

Mitsuna cut in.

"Sorry?"

"No. Just give me the money for the assignment. I don't need contribution."

Mitsuna quickly tapped twice on the counter.

"Miss, you may not but your party-"

"I have none. So money here please and let's go on with our respective days."

Mitsuna cut in yet again as she was now resting her head on her palm while her other hand was tapping on the wooden counter with one finger.

"Miss, I must raise a few questions if you defeated a monster of this calibre alone."

The man said with command and seriousness in his voice as he slightly frowned.

"You must not. What does it matter if I killed it alone or not? They are dead. The assignment is complete. The guild is now obligated to pay the amount promised."

Mitsuna stopped tapping her finger on the counter.

"Miss, I-"

Before the man could continue, Mitsuna tapped the counter once again, this time her finger 'tapped' right through the wooden counter.

'All receptionists can't be this troublesome... I'm god damn tired.'

"You will bring the required payment here and I will leave. End of discussion."

The man took a deep breath and was about to speak again. Before he could, the original girl receptionist with pale green hair and brown eyes slightly pushed him aside and placed the money on the table.

With a bead of sweat on her forehead and a business-like smile plastered on her face, the girl spoke before the man could interject.

"Thank you for completing the assignment ma'am, as the monster was more powerful than recorded a bonus has also been included in the payment.

Have a lovely day and I do apologize for the slow service on this busy day."

The girl said without missing a beat.

Staying quiet for a moment, the man looked at the girl with a frown as he opened his mouth.

"Mir-"

Before he could even begin, Mitsuna grabbed the small bag of money and turned to leave.

"I'm not paying for the counter."

Not paying any attention to the surrounding stares that unconsciously contributed to her annoyed attitude as she wanted to leave more and more with each passing moment with all of the people there staring at her, Mitsuna left the guild in silence.

'I guess I was a bit harsh on the girl.'

She thought as she counted over the bonus she received from the assignment and all the money she currently had.

'Good enough for a while.'

Walking to the Lemon's Mace inn, she walked up to the blank-faced enthusiastic man at the reception and handed over almost all the money she had, keeping a few loose coins for herself.

"Hey. I know I said 28 days but how many can this amount buy me?"

Mitsuna asked after a quick greeting.

"Pleasure to see you valued customer."

The blank-faced man saluted and observed the bag of coins with one hand imitating a monocle and the other rubbing his chin.

"Well, with this amount and all the possible discounts provided at the time, you may indeed stay for about 32 days but no more."

The man crossed his arms into an X shape as he peeked out from behind his own arms.

"For an extended stay, you may pay the appropriate amount when 32 days are over or you have the coins on hand."

The man lowered his arms as he went into a thinking pose.

"What do you wish to do traveler?"

The sheer amount of poses, different ways of calling her and strange actions made Mitsuna hesitate for a moment.

'F*ck it.'

She thought with a faint smile and quiet giggle, her mood being lifted by the blank-faced receptionist.

"I'll stay for 32 days then, I'll increase the time after I get enough coin for it."

Placing both hands on his cheeks, the bag of coins was no longer on the table as he spoke.

"Wow, what an intelligent decision customer, your room is numbered 818 on the third floor."

Leaning in while covering his mouth, he then whispered.

"Just so you know, the numbers start from 1 and go to 1000 depending on which inn you visit. Our branch has quite a few rooms when compared to others though. Wink."

The man said as he gave her the key as if it were an illegal drug.

"Alright, see you later then.

And you can just call me Mitsuna. Wink"

Mitsuna whispered the last part back jokingly as she left towards the stairs in a much better mood than she had had at the Guild.

"Ah. I forgot to tell her the rules."

The man held his head with both hands as he crouched down in despair, though the emotion was absent from his face.

Next to his usual thoughts about work, money, business and the rules that he forgot to tell Mitsuna were now small glimpses of her giggle and smug smile as she whispered to him while leaning closer.

The origin of these thoughts confused him.

Feeling heat rise from his neck and onto his face, he poked at his own cheeks with a confused look as he thought about the customer he had just served.

"Strange. Am I sick? Maybe I need to ask the boss for a private healer or priest?"

As the man kept tapping his cheeks, where his blush sat unyielding, he stood up after a moment while thinking to himself.

'I hope the valued customer doesn't kill anybody on the premises.'

He thought to himself as he entered the back of the establishment.

Opening a door and walking into a large office room with multiple workers running around doing tasks and paperwork.

The few workers who had noticed the receptionist there were shocked by what they were seeing, stopping in their tracks and looking at him walk by as if they were laying eyes on a mythical creature.

He approached the boss' office and entered without a knock.

"Bossy, I think I might need a healer. My face is about to burn off and that would be terrible for business."

He said as he poked both of his cheeks simultaneously with a blank look and curious eyes while tilting his head.

"Hah?! What're ya-...."

The boss stopped mid-sentence as they had turned to face the blank-faced receptionist.

"Since when'da You blush?!"

Meanwhile, Mitsuna was dead asleep in her new room, dreaming about resting on some warm soft bouncy clouds while drinking some extremely tasteful drink.
