This is a work of fiction.

----------------------

The sun shone bright on the blue sky. The temperature rises but it did not affect every single human because every house in Malaya Village had air conditioner in it. Everyone could experience winter inside their abode despite the burning atmosphere outside.

It had been years since the last natural tree on earth survived. Everything around had been genetically modified by scientists. Trees were artificial but still could absorb carbon dioxide and release it as oxygen. These trees could not produce fruits and flowers which made both extinct. It were nowhere to be found.

Only those unnatural things surrounded the village. Flowers, animals, and any natural living things failed to survive the changes that the Earth had gone through. Everything that existed before was fake and for the sixteen year old Lybralle, it was just a fantasy world. A world created by fiction. Her reality influenced her belief that it was impossible. In her village, there was no single pet or animal.

A loud 'BANG' exploded from her father's room who was a scientist. He tried to modify genes of a new plant that could grew a flower to make hid daughter believe that it really existed many years before technology evolved. Lybralle made her way to her father's laboratory and slowly pushed the door. Her eyes caught the messy floor which was covered with mud and leaves.

"What are you trying to do again, Dad?" she asked with a cold gaze towards her father. "I told you, it is not true. Trees can never grow flowers or produce fruits. I already lost Mother because she was stubborn believing that she can prove the folklore to me. Don't do the same mistake she did."

She then left her Father who also was covered with mud and dirt. She left him speechless and heart broken. His only daughter hated him. The only kin he had did not even listened to his perspective. Lybralle's word scratched his scarred heart and tears slowly fell from his eyes to his cheeks.

How could she? Where did he go wrong? The sweet Lybralle just turned into a lady with too much hatred. Her mother was a biology researcher. The higher ups in her village sent her to a dangerous mission after receiving a news of sighting flowers outside. With her eagerness to prove to her daughter that flowers was not only a folklore but also a real thing, she accepted the work but she did not return. No news came and everything was forgotten.

"Lydia, our daughter..." Hopelessly, Rallion, Lybralle's father kneel to the floor with his tears flowing. "What should I do?"

Lybralle sat on her soft bed inside a yellowish dark room— her windows were covered with thick layer of black curtains. The only light inside came from a small candle which made her surroundings a little yellowish. Her gloomy coffee brown eyes stared on the floor.

"Mother, you made a mistake but it is not totally your fault." In front of her was a small glass table with thick books above. It contained all the details all about trees and plants that existed on Earth many years ago. "Why do both you and Dad wanted to recover something impossible? No one has ever witnessed those things! My classmates do not even believe to those...just a folklore!"

She clenched her fist as her tears flowed. "It is the technologies fault! If it doesn't exist, then she shouldn't have died. Discovering impossible things by risking anyone's life? Is that the essence of technology?!"

I'll be honored if my mistakes are corrected. Thank you for reading.
