A Villain's Guide to World Domination

{On break...} Let me begin by telling you how much I hate cliches and Happy ever after's. Cinderella, getting the prince with love at first sight, snow-white, and her Prince with love’s first kiss…who’s gonna tell these fools that real life doesn’t work like that and don't even get me started with the so-called heroes. It's almost like the world is blind, and my four-eyed self(making sure to clean my pair of glasses before putting them back on) is the only human that can see that: Villains are the true masterminds, the ones with the goals, the only people who see the world as it is- an apple for the taking. That's why my motto is: Life is short and I, Ray, should always come FIRST. ********* Unlike the cute facade Ray puts up in front of his mother: the only person he cares about, Ray is anything but cute. He sees the world he lives in a little differently and he intends to change it. Unlike others vying to become heroes, he embraces the villain he knows himself to be and the absolute ruler he hopes to become. In a high-tension world where superhumans exist alongside mutated beasts with powers of their own , there is a huge gap between heroes and villains. Apart from the different grades(F-A) powers are divided into, they are also classified into two main groups. Propensity for good( Hero-like) and Propensity for bad(Villain-like). This means that the power each person can awaken directly affects how they are treated and which organizations and groups they can join. At fifteen, Ray’s life doesn’t go according to how he planned it. Not only is he unable to awaken his powers but caught in the crossfire of a huge battle between a hero and a villain, his life lingers at the brink of death. Just before his soul escapes his body, he gains a death-related system that not only changes his looks and body but also the way people view him. Regardless, Ray doesn’t care. His sole purpose is *world domination* even if he has to bring the world to its knees first. At first, he tries to join hands with a villain organization his father belonged to when he was alive, to take down as many heroes as he can as his powers slowly grow to balance the gap between the two groups. But when he discovers how shallow-minded other villains were to each other and themselves. Almost at the cost of his life, he finds a way to upgrade his system and ventures out on his own, building his army from scratch, using the very souls of the mutated beasts the human race is daily battling to defeat. "Number 99,"  the automated voice said again. As if jarred from a dream, Kin began to move towards the cylindrical tube, as I mentally cheered him on.

From a young age, I've always just known things or felt things and they usually happened just as I imagined them to be,

I'm not trying to say that I'm different or unique but I was pretty confident in the knowledge that Kin had powers and he was nothing like a "Pawn",

Anxiously waiting, I watched him enter the cylindrical tube with the many wires connected to it, as ten minutes practically flew by as I anticipated what power he would get.

Finally, the readings were complete and I watched Kin come out of the tube, sweat dripping down his face,  almost as if he had just taken his bath, even though I was pretty sure that the air conditioner in the room we were in was blasting at full speed,

"Why do I get the feeling that his sweat might have something to do with his powers?" I thought before directing my entire attention at Kin who managed to spot me and look at me from where he stood, with a nervous smile on his face he seemed to be on the edge of a breakdown.

Trying my best to cheer up my newfound friend, I gave him a thumbs up, raising my hands high for him to see, from where I stood among the few students who were yet to take their exams,

The first bunker for the safety test was up. Kin went into it and the doors were shut, with reinforced windows which allowed everyone in the room to see him,

With a mixture of happiness at kin getting his powers and shock at seeing what he could do,

A minute barely went by as his powers were triggered, when the bunker began to break down into pieces and it didn't stop there,

The ground followed, and anyone with a good eye, looking closely at the room we were in could see that even the walls were affected.

At this point, I was pretty sure that Kin panicked because the destruction didn't end there as it seemed to have only begun.

In seconds the bunker became nothing but dust and the heroes around him began to be affected as their clothes disintegrated.

But suddenly, faster than my eyes could follow, a man with the signature red cape appeared in the center of the room where the commotion seemed to be going on, and with one touch, placed his hands on Kin's shoulders and everything stopped.

"Power," was the only word that resonated in my mind as I looked closely at his face to see that he was truly one of the seven pillars in the continent and his name was "Seize" with the power to take away the abilities of anyone.

"What is he doing here?" I wondered. The city of Lavigne wasn't special enough for him to suddenly decide to visit.

The moment he used his powers on Kin, I immediately watched the sweat on his body reduce drastically which made me conclude that the sweat on his body had something to do with his powers,

In a blink of an eye, the bunker was fixed along with the floor and walls which were most likely due to the powers of a super-hero also wearing a cape lifting his hands in the air in concentration as everything went back to the way they were,

All, except Kin as the big red X letter, appeared on the fixed cubicle door, and even if it didn't appear it was clear to everyone that he had failed the first safety test, as apprehension filled the air.

The second test was next and I immediately knew what I had to do, to reduce his anxiety.

Right before he had to enter the second bunker to take the second test, I inhaled, taking a deep breath thinking in my mind how in the space of hours I seemed to have become a completely different person, before shouting in a loud voice,

"You can do it Kin," attracting everyone's attention to me but most of all delighted to see him break out in a happy smile nodding vigorously at me before stepping into the second bunker.

I was a wreck.

I couldn't stop twiddling my arms and shifting from one foot to another. It was the most anxious I've ever been in my life, staring at the entrance of the bunker Kin had just entered wanting nothing more than to see a big green circle at the door,

Annoyingly it took longer than I would have liked as I listened to others around me begin to whisper among themselves,

"He's definitely going to be a villain. He obviously won't pass the second test." one said,

"But he might…" another replied,

Looking within myself, I tried to figure out what I felt only to come out blank as I couldn't decipher anything at all and all I could do was hope.

Finally, everyone heard the door click open, and it seemed like Kin was done with his second test and was coming out.
