A Very Normal . . .

*** I'm rewriting this novel, so check out "How About Heresy?" It's this but better! Jeffrey's a very 'normal' individual who lives in quite the extra ordinary world or perhaps one can say it is an abnormal world... "Cultist!" Was he talking to me? "Nah, I'm no cultist," he says while he cripples a man. "YoU FieND!" "Woah, calm down there bud," "Die!" He yells, slashing his sword down. ... By day, there's four fresh bodies for the lord to hold. This is not a slice of life, though at first, it may not seem a bit boring, wait till you get to volume two. :)

A very normal market

"Tch, you think you can just do anything you want?" the Hero said coldly, "Know that there are always consequences to your actions, and your karma is adding up,"

Karma, it was quite an interesting subject, whereby all actions produce karma whether positive or negative, then this karma would come back and reward you accordingly. But never mind that, before Jeffrey delved too deep into this train of thought he refocused on the kid before him.

He was the guy who randomly attacked their convoy for no reason and freed the prisoners. He was definitely no good, but allegedly, he was a Hero that the King had summoned to aid the Kingdom, and as such Jeffrey should do his best to show his utmost respect.

Like hell that was going to happen.

If the Hero was going to try anything Jeffrey wouldn't hold back, at most, he'd leave the Hero alive with some injuries. Nothing too bad.

He says, before mercilessly beating the crap out of the Hero. Parrying the Hero, Jeffrey made him expose openings again and again. Exploiting those openings, again and again, to just make the Hero feel a world of hurt.

Surprisingly, the elf by the side tried to shank Jeffrey using a knife on the ground. However, her aim was way off, and she stabbed much too early. It seemed she had no experience with shorter weapons.

Which made sense, considering she probably spent all her time mastering those stupid double blades. They looked extremely hard to use and didn't do too well when Jeffrey was fighting her back then.

Anyway, as said before history tends to repeat itself, the Hero was found lying prone on the floor as Jeffrey started kicking the man. The thugs had already fled and well, Alais could be considered a non threat.

"Hmm, that seems about enough," Jeffrey felt that that was enough of a beating for the Hero and as he was about to leave.

"Hm?" The Hero who was on the ground was dazzling in light as he slowly got up. Jeffrey could feel the danger this man was emanating, rocket from what it was moments ago.

What is this guy? Is this the so called power up?

Well, Lily was already flying away and Jeffrey sure as hell wasn't going to stick around to see what happens.

[Conditions met]

[Skill: Limit Break obtained ! ]

Rising from his pitiful state, he stood up. He was definitely going to make the bastard pay for all the humiliation he received, and he would dish it out tenfold!

Looking around, the dark, dank alleyway was empty, apart from Alais who was trying to recover off the ground.

"Damnit!" he exclaimed, Jeffrey had already hightailed out of there. After all, there was no need to stick around and get in more trouble, when his business was just about finished.

"Who're you?" some guy sitting on a crate asked. He was dressed in grey clothing and looked rather roughed up. He was sitting beside a doorway like he was guarding it.

Now, to answer the question. Because Jeffrey had the time to think about it, he remembered what Karl had told him one time.

"Jeffrey, you're a guard now, so if anyone asks who you are, you are a city guard, not a farmer, got it?"

So, the correct answer should be,

"I'm a city guard,"

"Heh, sure you are," the guy inspected Jeffrey, and Lily especially "Alright, you're good buddy," the man motioned for Jeffrey to enter the doorway with his thumb.

Looks like that was the right answer. Jeffrey, not having anything else to do, entered the exceedingly suspicious building.

The doorway immediately met with stairs that descended downwards. There was no light source, but Jeffrey wasn't really bothered by that. Walking down the stairs, he was met with another door, the door wasn't locked, and Jeffrey taking initiative opened the door.

The wooden door creaked in its hinges, making a very noticeable echoing sound, which didn't help with the fact that Jeffrey was very slowly opening the door.

Once opening the door, he was met with many inquisitive eyes on him, but their interest was soon lost as their owners went about their own business. Contrary to what Jeffrey expected, the underground was not like a cellar room, but rather a small plaza, with vendors sitting around on ragged mats as they exchanged goods.

Surveying the plaza like area, he immediately spotted a rather peculiar looking vendor. Walking toward him, Jeffrey examined the vendor. Indeed, it was as he expected.

The vendor was Traveller.

Jeffrey could swear this guy was everywhere.

Looking at Traveller, the traveller was offering a wide variety of random, dangerous looking items.

Noticing the presence of Jeffrey, Traveller looked up, apparently, ANts Man already finished the bow Jeffrey commissioned just yesterday.

"That was fast," as expected of an expert fletcher that was recommended by Traveller, on top of hailing from another realm. No, wait, Traveller explained that it was due to time dilation between the realms. Time dilation was a rather interesting subject, which indicates how time flows differently in different places, or something. Traveller wouldn't elaborate, just stating that time flows faster down in Hell. Anyway, they were in a location called a black market. Not that anything about this market was black. No? Black meant something illegal or not socially accepted, according to Traveller.

But then again, why use black to describe such a thing? Black was a cool colour that everyone liked.

Nodding his head, even Traveller agreed with this statement.

Honestly, people these days have no sense of style, Traveller reminisced.

Nonetheless, Traveller dug around in his coat for a while before he pulled out a black bow with the riser section being a nice contrasting white, with a slightly purple hue. ANts Man's trademark apparently. It fit Jeffrey pretty well and came with a manual on the features shoved into the bow.

This exchange attracted no suspicion, after all, it was just another dealing happening in the good ol' black market!

My favourite colour isn't black...

Also, I added a bit to chapter 1 so reread it. :)
