Adrianna's legs burned as she sprinted through a dense, misty forest. The air was heavy, laden with a metallic tang that made her stomach churn. Shadows loomed around her, slithering like living entities. Somewhere behind her, a voice called out, cruel and cold, yet unmistakably hers.
"Adrianna," it hissed, dragging out each syllable.
Her heartbeat thundered in her ears as she pushed herself harder, weaving through the twisted trees. Her breath came in frantic gasps, her bare feet slapping against the damp ground. The chill of the night bit into her skin, but the fear coursing through her veins kept her moving.
"You can't run forever," the voice taunted, now closer.
Adrianna dared to glance over her shoulder, and her blood ran cold. It was her doppelgänger, identical in every way but sinister beyond reason. Its eyes glowed a deep crimson, and its smile was a wicked slash across its pale face.
