My Fiancé

'What does she mean by I cheated on her?' Xavier looked at Ella with a questioning look.

Ella continued to cry like a baby who had been robbed of her candy. Xavier felt helpless. At last, Xavier gave up. He sighed and thought 'she's always been like this from childhood. How can someone be stubborn as a mule and cute as a bunny at the same time'.

"What happened?" He asked softly, as if afraid he'll anger her further. Ella stopped crying and looked at him. She sniffed and pouted at him as if he's the one who made her cry. "You're the one who wanted to marry me and now you're the one who's also cheating on me. How could you do this to me?" She glared at him with evident anger in her eyes.

"Ella, why do you keep saying I cheated on you? When did I cheat on you?" Asked Xavier softly. Ella pointed at the receptionist and said, "she told me just now". Xavier glared at the receptionist with a killing intent in his eyes. He really wanted to kill this girl. "What the hell did you say to her? Huh! How dare you accuse me of cheating without any proof? Do you know the consequences of such unfounded accusations?" Xavier squinted his eyes, if looks could kill.

"Dr McCann, she's lying to you!" Answered the receptionist fearfully, not daring to raise her head. "Ella never lies." Retorted Xavier. The room felt chilly as everyone registered the conviction in which Xavier made that statement. Ella was feeling warm and fuzzy on the inside, she was pleased that Xavier chose to believe her without questioning her.

"Ella, tell me what she said to you" Xavier looked at Ella and asked gently. "She said you have a fiancé. That they've met her and it's not me. She also called me liar when I said I'm your fiancé" Ella glared at Xavier in anger. Xavier was speechless at her accusation. "Why are you looking at me like that? I don't know anything about this matter." He said to Ella with disbelief.

He has only ever had one woman in his heart and life since childhood and Ella should know that better than anyone else. He gave a death stare towards the receptionist "who told you that she's not my fiancé?" Asked Xavier appearing as if he's struggling to not lunge forward and squeeze the girl's neck. "Dr McCann, the whole hospital knows that Miss Palmer is your fiancé" replied the receptionist finally lifting her head to look at the good Doctor.

Everyone murmured in agreement to her statement.

"You mean Maria Palmer?" Asked Ella. "Yes" replied the receptionist nodding vigorously. Understanding washed over Ella as to why no one believed her when she said she was Xavier's fiancé. 'Maria, Maria, Maria you're truly something else, to go as far as to proclaim yourself as Xavier's fiancé' thought Ella.

"Okay, I understand, you guys should return to work" she said softly. After seeing the way Xavier looked at her, Ella was so embarrassed. She felt so aggrieved in her heart. 'Ahhhh' she screamed internally. She had wanted to see him so bad after her rebirth, but now she had spoilt her impression with her spoilt princess dramatics.

Ella got an idea; she held her stomach and suddenly she cried out in pain "ahhhh". "What happened?" Asked Xavier with his brows farrowed as he rushed forward, careful not to touch Ella in-case he angers her. "Ahhh my stomach hurts" Ella said softly as she maintained her lowered head. She wanted to make him worry about her.

"Let me see" said Xavier with concerned as he lowered himself to place his hand on her stomach. As soon as everyone saw him do that, it was like time stood still and they remained stunned at the scene before them. Ella smirked internally, then put on her most wounded look as she looked at Xavier and said "it's hurts so bad, carry me" she sounded and looked so spoilt.

Xavier froze at her sudden bold request, but he did not say anything. Xavier stood up and lifted Ella, carrying her like a child. Xavier started walking towards his office when he suddenly heard Ella softly say, "I want to say something to everyone here". Xavier halted whis steps then turned to everyone.

Ella placed her hands around his neck and in a cold tone said "Xavier McCann is my fiancé and we are getting married on Saturday fortnight. I hope from here on, you're all aware that only I, Ella Palmer can and will be the one and only Mrs. Xavier McCann. I will not forgive anyone who dares think they or anyone else can be his wife. Xavier is my man, and no can ever take him away from me. If anyone even tries it, I will make sure you live a life worse than death. Believe me I am a woman of my word and I have the means. Anyone who doubts what I've just said, feel free to ask Dr McCann himself".

Ella had a sinister look as cold as the demon king, and everyone who could see and hear her shivered with fear. Everyone thought 'how can such an angelic looking woman be scarier than Dr McCann?'.

Xavier could not process fast enough what he'd just heard. He stared at Ella with his clear hazel eyes disbelief evident in them, Ella returned his eye contact with confidence and smiled at him.

Ella couldn't help but think 'why was I ever angry at this man? Why did I feel so much hatred towards him, when obviously I love him dearly'. While Xavier was unaware of Ella's thoughts he too was in his own world as he thought ' What happened to her? Is she not the one who didn't want to marry me in the first place? Today she announces to everyone that I'm her man'. Although Xavier was puzzled, he couldn't help the warm feeling that spread across his body.

"Let's go" he heard Ella say. Xavier walked towards his office leaving a very shocked group of colleagues and subordinates standing around looking at each other as if to confirm they had all heard the same words.

As soon as Xavier and Ella were out of sight everyone broke out in to gossip groups.

"What the hell did we just experience? Pinch me, am I'm dreaming?" Said one nurse.

"Wow, Dr McCann is so caring towards that woman, it means she was telling the truth," Said another.

"But we honestly thought Miss Palmer was Dr McCann's fiancé" said one doctor.

"Technically, Dr McCann has never confirmed this, it was our own assumptions. Meaning we've misunderstood the doctor" replied another.

"How can we have misunderstood when it was Miss Palmer told everyone that she was Dr McCann's fiancé?" Said the receptionist.

"Yeah, she even handed us gift cards, and took us to that fancy restaurant for lunch" replied one doctor.

"Well, we got played. She lied to us. She is just a shameless third party who wants to ruin Dr McCann's relationship" said the receptionist with her evident anger in her eyes.

"Well, this explains why whenever she came around, Dr McCann never bothered with her. He always ignored her, doesn't even bat an eyelid her direction" the nurse excitedly lowered her voice as she gushed "guys did you see how worried he looked when his fiancé cried because of her stomach pain? He looked like he was the one feeling the pain" the nurse smiled.

"Yes, he loves his fiancé so much" gushed the next.

"And because of that fraudulent fiancé, you've offended the real future Mrs McCann. I think you should apologise to her" one doctor advised the receptionist.

"Yes, you should apologise to Mrs McCann, did you see just now how much Dr McCann loves his fiancé!" Exclaimed one nurse. Slowly everyone started to encourage her to apologise.

"I definitely will" stated the nurse in agreement with their line of thought. Otherwise, how can she continue to work in peace? She thought to herself.

Meanwhile, the couple had already moved on from the reception area troubles. "Have you eaten?" asked Xavier as he placed Ella on his desk. "No, you wouldn't answer my calls, so I had a small bite then came here. now that I think about it I'm really hungry." she replied.
