"Watch out Asriel!"
Even without being able to observe clearly I understood that she had interposed herself between Dimitri and me.
"Maria!"
Did she take the hit instead of me? It can't be, because of me she....
Although the next sound that was heard was a metallic one that began to echo around the surroundings, just as if 2 objects were colliding with each other. The warmth of a familiar light helped me regain my sight little by little.
"Little girl, don't interfere"
"I won't let you hurt him!"
The first thing I managed to make out was that Maria had stopped the attack with her necklace. It was floating in front of her emanating the strongest glow she had ever demonstrated. Slowly as the radiance increased so did its shape, eventually tripling in size. A cracking noise marked the beginning of a change.
From this diamond manifested a pillar that took solid form, she reached out her left hand and took it, turning the tip towards our enemy. He received a cut where he had been touched by her. The old man was surprised, so he jumped back taking a great distance from us.
Just then I understood what had happened, his accessory had evolved into a spear of a meter and a half of a cyan color that I could say that I'm used to. The blade is shaped like a diamond, similar to the one I had already seen countless times hanging from his chest when using his healing powers. How did he manage to do that?
"Asriel, stand still!"
She pointed the tip of her new weapon at me. From it emanated that warm light that has always healed my wounds, curing the slight scratches on my body.
Confirming that I was okay I stood up.
"That's it..." I said staring at what she held in her hands.
"I don't know. When I was afraid that something might happen to you, I couldn't just stand by and do nothing. Then a feeling inside me made me move forward and resulted in this"
"That explanation doesn't convince me much to say. Well, never mind. Let's leave the talk for later, for now help me finish this guy off"
"Of course! That's what I intended from the beginning"
She put her spear next to my katana.
You can tell Maria is happy to be able to stand next to me, maybe this is what led her to unlock this new potential. For the first time we will fight together to protect each other. Now she will be able to put her weeks of training to the test.
I know she will do well, and in any case I'm here to support her.
"You... are you willing to resist your inevitable fate?" Dimitri asked us.
The 2 of us looked at each other and nodded in unison.
"Let's see if you can keep up Maria"
"That's my line Asriel!"
No more words needed.
We both rushed towards him to start our battle.
Thanks for reading chapter 14 of Unmei to Iu Monogatari. Finally Maria has the power to fight next to Asriel. Will the two of them be able to stop Dimitri's ambitions?
