Our World (VI)

Inside the room was an oval desk in which they were a few people who fell silent and watched me, logically I believe that they were thinking, what was a kid like me doing in a place like this?

Without giving it much importance I advance until the end of the room where there was a single individual standing, I guess that's the leader. The silence filled the place.

"Who are you young man? Maybe you are the famous person from the rumours?"

The rest of the presents who where still sitting started to whisper between them. Haha, I'm so famous in so little time.

"Seems so, I made a reputation for myself while I was sleeping"

"So it's true. It's you"

"Don't listen to him mayor! He is the kid with the demon powers! Probably he's here to kill us all!" said one of the old man who was in the room. A few more seemed to praise his ideals. A typical reaction of a human being to the unknown, fear.

"Silence! Don't you know how many lives has this young man saved? Inform yourselves before starting prejudice without facts!" answered the mayor before I could. "Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope it didn't offend you" said with a warm smile in his face.

I'm glad that our leader is a person that doesn't just act without thinking. For the small info I have I get the impression that he knows how to handle in this catastrophic situation.

"No problem, didn't bother me. More important, I came to ask if you know whatever has happened to this planet. Something more that you didn't tell the people"

There was another moment of awkward silence in the room.

"... sadly we don't know anything new. Like you had noticed since that day we aren't able to receive any signals from the rest of the world. Neither we had been able to travel to another city due to that strange creatures on the surroundings. Our weapons are inefficient against them, the very few persons who were able to confront them and came back to tell us what happen shows obvious trauma because of the fear they experimented, that prevent us from doubting that their testimony are all lies. The worst scenario came to be when one of our soldiers that escaped from a recognizance mission resulted in that beast following him here. Everyone would have died if it weren't for you, we owe you our lives"

"I see" I answered with a little disappointment in my face.

I was right, that time wasn't an isolated event. There must be multiples of those beings out there. Where do they came from? What are they exactly?
