A Fated Meeting (VIII)

I left the house and look to the sky at the distance. The north is in that direction... I guess. It's been a couple of days since the last time I travelled, I already lost practice. I started walking to the closest road.

"Wait!" I heard from behind.

Surprised I turned around. It was the girl that came running to where I was. She was standing catching her breath. After some rest we looked at each other.

"Yes? Something happen?"

"Maria" said gently. "My name is Maria, I don't think we introduce ourselves yet"

"Maria..."

Telling the truth I never asked her name. Despite the fact that she took care of me for a while, I never noticed that I didn't knew her name.

Hmm? Now that I think about it, what was the name of the mister that lives with Maria?

Or the soldiers that escorted me?

Or the other chosen by the light with the kunai...?

Or the other...?

"What's your name?"

"My name...?"

My name... my... name...

Inside my head something blurry exists. A kind of wall between my thoughts. I can't even remember a simple question.

Was I not paying enough attention? It's something I forget? The truth is hidden out there. Hiding behind the lies. I don't see it, but I feel it exist. A blockade inside my mind.

"Are you okay?"

She said putting her hand in my forehead. The moment she touched me was like everything cleared. The haze that covered me dissipated entirely.

A low sound of glass shattering rings on my ears.

A feeling of freedom that only last an instant fills me.

I manage to remember something that was prohibited.

"... a"

"Mmm?"

"... Asriel. My name is Asriel" I said stretching my hand. "Nice to meet you Maria"

"Same!" she yelled with a big smile in her face shaking mine. From the door of the house I can see a silhouette looking at us waving.

"Wish you a good journey!"

"Thank you very much!" I answered the same way.

She turned around.

"I'm coming John, just a second!" she yelled to him and then looked me right at the eyes. "You will come back, right?"

"Of course I'm. It's a promise to the one who saved my life"

We said or farewells and she run back to her house while I continue my way.

After some minutes of retaking the main road I finally could saw a big sign. The upper half was destroyed, only an indication was left.

"5 kilometres ahead"

At last I'm close. Let's see what destiny has in store for me.
