Using Their Guilt To Her Advantage

After breakfast with Roy, Anna returned to her bedroom as the former left for work, but not without leaving her with a message; If you need anything, text me.

Other normal people would say to call instead of text, but it looks like Roy operated differently.

In her room, Anna picked up her phone and discovered the missed calls from her mother.

'I hope she is not that worried about me?' she thought to herself as she returned the call.

Anna: "Hey Mum, good morning."

Mrs. Carter: "Good morning. How was your night?"

With her mother asking questions that depicted her worries, Anna wasn't surprised. It was only normal since the mother and daughter had had each other for so many years and all of a sudden, she got married without her mother's approval.

Mrs. Carter's worries mainly lay on the fact that she did not know Roy very well, so of course, she would be calling her daughter the morning after she moved in with her husband.

Anna: "It was fine, Mum, thank you. How are you doing? Do you miss me?"

Anna and her mother chatted a bit regarding unimportant issues before she asked about Roy.

Anna: "He has already left for work."

Mrs. Carter: "When are you going to meet with Sam and Susan?"

Anna: "I want to meet with them this afternoon, but I will have to call to tell them about it."

Mrs. Carter: "Just tell them it's urgent so they will have to show up."

Having had so many years of experience while dealing with people, Mrs. Carter wanted to ensure that no excuses would cause her daughter not to meet with the set of people who betrayed her.

Since Anna was now married, she wanted everything that had to do with her past to be put to an official end. That way, she can move on with no other hindrances.

Anna: "I will."

Mrs. Carter: "Don't forget to get back to me when you have reached out to them."

---

Anna had to prepare her mind before dialling the contacts of the people who dealt her a big blow.

Her best friend and her boyfriend were supposed to be her support system, but they ended up betraying her.

If not for the will to move on which her new sight gave to her, she would have broken down and wallowed in pain for a long time, but here she was looking forward to what the future held for her.

Anna first placed a call on Sam, and as soon as the call connected, she faked a smile and greeted him with a high-pitched voice.

"Sam!" she called out.

"Anna? Oh My God! I'm so sorry for not calling you all this while. Things have been hectic at my father's company so I had to help out," Sam said, sounding very apologetic.

'Yet you had the time to go on a date with my best friend!' Anna slammed him in her head but maintained her composure outside. "Sam, I am not going to forgive so easily this time around. You know that I am always very understanding, but how did you have the heart to not even try and reach out to me in over a week?"

Sam let out a sigh. "Babe…" Anna cringed at that nickname. She hated his guts so much that she wouldn't hesitate to puke on him at first sight. He was so shameless and dirty! He disgusts her.

"I have no excuses. I will make it up to you, okay?" Sam finished, trying to get in her good graces.

Anna did not utter another word. She was using a delay tactic in other to get the best out of this. She wanted the guilt to wring him, and that's if he still had any conscience left, but at least, he wouldn't be saying 'no' when she invited him out for lunch today.

Sam waited for a while and when he did not hear Anna say anything, he got uncomfortable and quickly said, "Anna, I'm so sorry, and I really want to make it up to you. What do you want from me? Just name it and it will be done."

"If I ask you to go and hug a transformer, would you really do it?" Anna asked, her tone sounding so serious that it scared the shit out of him.

"Babe. Stop playing…" he said while sounding doubtful like he wasn't even sure if she was joking or really meant it when she asked him to go and die cause hugging a transformer, was like romancing death.

Again, Anna let her silence stab his guilty heart for a few moments before she let out a chuckle. "I was just joking… relax… I don't want you dead." 'I want you to live in regret all your life.'

There was no need to want him dead even though the betrayal was enough to kill her. Anna felt that it wasn't worth it. But her peace of mind will reach its maximum limit only if she learns that he was living in regret daily for what he did to her.

"Meet me at the spicy noodle shop along…"

After dropping the time and location, she added, "Don't be late," before ending the call. Next, she phoned Susan and told her off for not contacting her for a long time.

"Susan, you were supposed to be my best friend yet you did not bother to check up on me after not hearing from me for a long while despite my eye condition."

"Anna, I'm so sorry. It was not my intention to make you feel like you were abandoned. It's just that I have been very busy setting up my nail saloon in time for the opening."

"You are starting a nail salon?" Anna was surprised that her best friend would be making a big move like that without letting her in on it.

It seems their relationship has been broken for a long time yet it was only now the veil over her eyes was clearing.

"I didn't tell you?" Susan sounded taken aback, like she was meant to inform her yet forgot to do that, while in the actual sense, she was shocked that she let that piece of information slip off her lips without thinking twice.

Anna was silent for a few seconds before finally speaking, "It seems like we have a lot to catch up on. Let's meet at the spicy noodle shop along… Don't be late."

As soon as Anna dropped the time and location, she ended the call without waiting to hear what the other party had to say. As far as she was concerned, none of that mattered because her so-called best friend had no reason to not show up.
