SELENE.
As I wake up in my room, I am greeted by the rays of the sun that peek through my window. The sudden brightness forces me to use my hand to cover my eyes as I try to adjust to it. It's the only bright place in this house, unlike the hall, the courtroom, and every other place I've been to, which are all dark.
After a few minutes, I scratched my eyes using my hands and threw myself on the bed. Something confused, though. I couldn't comprehend how that strange man who came here offering to help me could get into this room. He appeared in the room suddenly even when Devon cast a spell around my room, forbidding all demons from entering the room.
The abrupt knock on the door caught my attention. "Hold on a minute, is he going to kill me? The penalty for insulting Devon is death by hanging or jumping off a cliff, I thought. I could feel my sweaty palms and I clutched the hem of my dress before reluctantly climbing down from the bed.
I locked the door from behind because I didn't want any of the maids to disturb me, but I couldn't help but feel a little guilty after what had just happened. "But that serves right!" I whispered as I approached the door and I unlocked it.
The door was pushed open, causing me to flinch. "Our master requests to see you," Rita said. She was the only maid that came this time.
"I don't want to see him," I responded without blinking her eyelashes
I hissed and turned to walk back to my bed when I felt a strong grip, at first I thought that a man had come from nowhere but as I spun to see who had such a firm grip, it surprised me to see that it was Rita
"Damn... Demons and strength." I narrowed my eyebrow.
"Don't disobey my master, he can have your head for dinner if he wants to don't dare it and try to disobey my, master," Rita said sternly
"He's your master, not mine, so he doesn't have any right to give me orders, okay? Deliver that message to him," I said, trying to break free from her strong grip.
Rita spoke sharply, "Don't make me drag you to his room. Just obey and your days in this place won't be numbered." Her sharp tongue stung, causing my pride to be hurt. I wanted to retaliate, but I knew it was better to humble myself and avoid a possible fight.
"Is that a threat?" I asked, staring deep into her eyes without blinking my long lashes. That was one of the many things the moon goddess blessed me with. Long hair, long lashes!
Rita released her grip on her hand and straightened my clothes. "Why am I being called? I hope it's not another together because I might cause a disaster," I said, arching an eyebrow.
"I don't know, when you see my master, you'll find out," Rita said. She was expressionless, and I hated everyone around here except for my new savior, Recon. The only man that it seemed like I could trust.
"I said, 'I'm coming,'" as I prepared to confront him with all my anger. Despite me spitting and insulting him in front of his subjects, he decided not to leave me. He showed remarkable patience and didn't retaliate in any way. It was only now that I realized this and I was determined to do whatever it took to get out of this terrible situation.
I followed Rita out of the room. Every servant we passed didn't fail to give me a disapproving look but I don't give two fucks about anyone. The only ones I care about are my entire pack, which is my family.
We finally got to his room. I instantly caught his scent from the room, but then I caught another scent. It was vanilla mixed with...
"I order you to go in," Rita commanded, interrupting my thoughts. As a demon, she wasn't known for her politeness. I rolled my eyes and let out a long sigh before obeying her. Despite being just a servant, she dared to talk to me in such a manner. I humbled myself and entered the room.
My gaze fell upon Devon and a woman seated beside him on the arm of his chair.
"Leave Venia," Devon's voice filled the room. I gulped, terrified of his aura. But I couldn't show fear.
"But Devon..."
"No buts!" Devon cut her off before she could complete her words.
Venia stood up from her chair, looking angry and trying to adjust her dress. She walked towards me with a glare because I was standing close to the door. When she came closer, she stopped and whispered in my ear with a warning tone. "Be careful and watch your back, sweetheart," Venia said. I knew these were not just empty words.
Though she didn't sound scary, I sensed her passion and knew that people like her, especially with the kind of power she held, could do whatever they wanted, anything at all!
After Venia left the room, Devon gestured for me to come closer to him. I hesitated but eventually took a few steps towards him, feeling frustrated and annoyed. "Why did you call me here?" I asked, my voice dripping with irritation. "Didn't I make myself clear? I don't want to be here. Why can't you just let me go?"
Devon let out a dry laugh, and even the sight of him smiling was enough to irritate me. I felt an urge to hit him so hard that I wanted to punch his face. Being a wolf, I didn't have the kind of patience that other supernaturals like vampires and demons had.
"What's so funny, you devil!" I yelled. I sort of insulting words and only came up with the word devil, knowing fully well that calling him the devil makes it seem like I'm raining praises on him.
