[44.7] Felix to the Rescue

I uncovered my eyes and panicked when I saw Cyrus on the ground groaning in pain. I grabbed him and anxiously checked him out to make sure he wasn't hurt more by the fall.

The demon girl had rushed far away and hid behind a tree. She poked her head out every so often to check to see if Captain Lou and we were okay.

That…

That was weird.

It felt like I was possessed by an emotion just now.

If that was even possible.

I guess that was another taste of demonic magic.

Eh, that's not important.

I need to figure out where we are.

I spoke to the demon, "Do you know where the rest of the people are? The tents?"

She nodded and pointed in one direction.

"Can you take us there?"

She approached us once more but hesitated upon seeing Captain Lou staring at her in a daze. Her beautiful and long eyelashes were only prettier upon seeing the flush on her face.

Oh no…

Please don't tell me she's infatuated with Captain Lou.

I tried to summon my ice chunk but the exhaustion and hunger were too much for me. I could no longer use my mana.

I turned to him, "Captain Lou. Can you walk?"

He struggled to stand up and held his head which was bruised with dried blood covering it, "I think so…"

I looked at the demon, "Can you help me carry Cyrus?"

She continued to stare at Captain Lou with a blush, but slowly nodded her head. She approached me and picked up Cyrus princess-style.

"Thank you… Can you lead the way?"

She didn't say a thing and led us past the rubble and the mountain. Before I could see the tents or anyone else, I noticed Felix in the distance, pacing around the rubble. His face revealed the little sleep he had gotten in the past few days.

I coughed out the dust in my throat and summoned my hoarse voice to shout, "Felix! Help!"

Hearing my shout, Felix quickly realized the situation and ran over to me. He spoke quickly, "Let me check them out."

The demon laid Cyrus down on his back as she stared intensely at Felix. Felix ignored her as he was too concerned with the injured.

I bite my lip as I realized just how pale Cyrus looked. Felix went to him first and checked out his condition, "He has a few broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, internal bleeding, and a fever from infection."

Panic seized my throat, "Will he be okay?"

Felix looked him over quickly, "I can heal his injuries, however, his fever is something I can't heal. I can provide some herbs, but that's it."

I let out the breath I had been holding, "Thank you."

Felix gave me a nod and quickly went to work healing him. I watched as Cyrus's pale and pained expression slowly started to dissipate. However, he wasn't waking up despite being healed.

Felix looked up at me with a few bags under his eyes, "He's going to be okay now, but he will have to remain in bed to fully recover."

After the demon recognized Felix could help, she grabbed his hand and brought him to Captain Lou. Felix paused for a moment and gave her a look.

He stared at the horn on her head without moving.

I spoke on behalf of her, "She's the one who saved us. She won't hurt you."

As Felix continued to stare at her with a blank expression, the demon faced him and tilted her head in confusion.

Felix abruptly snapped out of his stupor and hesitantly moved over to Captain Lou. He closed his eyes and used his wand to channel his mana into his body to check out his injuries. Once he finished assessing the damage, he pursed his lips, "You have a bad head wound. It's possible there will be long-term damage from it that I can't heal."

Captain Lou grumbled, looking as if he would collapse again from the injury.

Priscilla also pulled over her Royal Magician, "Brother… What about him?"

Felix moved to him and felt his vitals. His expression darkened, "He… He…"

I spoke slowly, "Can you help him?"

Felix hesitated for a moment before speaking, "First, I will heal Captain Lou to prevent further damage. Then I will heal you and Priscilla."

He didn't answer the question.

Does that mean…

I looked at the Royal Magician who was clearly not breathing.

Felix rolled up his sleeves, "Priscilla. I'm going to need your help. After I heal everyone, I will need you to take me home quickly. Do you understand?"

Priscilla nodded forcefully with tears in her eyes, "I will do whatever you need."

Felix didn't say anything else and went to work. He first turned his attention to Captain Lou and went to work. We all watched with bated breaths as Captain Lou's forehead pinched together. He was being healed, but it was a far slower process than healing Cyrus.

Felix, however, didn't seem to be in good shape.

A small groan left his lips as he channeled more of his mana into Captain Lou's body to heal his wounds.

I watched as Felix's complexion slowly started to turn abnormally pale. However, the complexion of Captain Lou became better and he no longer looked like he was in a daze. Even the open wound on his head slowly started to heal and leave behind a scar.

Eventually, Felix retracted his wand, "You… You should be fine for now. I couldn't fix everything, so make sure to see a doctor."

Captain Lou groggily nodded, "Many thanks."

Felix turned to me, "Reika."

I nodded in understanding and walked over to him. I bent down to him and he started to heal me. The weight I felt in my limbs gradually got lighter and my aching knees and back lessened.

After he healed me, he then went to Priscilla and closed his eyes as he chanted almost incoherently. His face was slowly starting to change to grey.

Priscilla panicked, "Brother Felix! Stop! You're going too far!"

Felix's wand dropped from his hand before he could finish healing. His body fell forward, but Priscilla was there to catch him.

I felt my heart rate pick up in a panic when I witnessed Felix's eyes roll back in his head. His body shook and jerked around from a sudden seizure.

His body lurched forward and blood sprayed out from his mouth.

I cried out in shock, "Felix!"

Out of nowhere, two bodyguards dressed in all black appeared and picked up Felix. The other one ripped a paper, creating a portal to transport through. The one carrying Felix walked through without hesitation, followed by an anxious Priscilla.

I stood up and went to follow Felix to make sure he was okay, but the remaining bodyguard held me back. He spoke in a dark tone that sent chills up my spine, "Our Master needs to be alone with family."

I could only helplessly watch as the other bodyguard carelessly grabbed the royal magician and disappeared into the portal which soon closed after him.

Will Felix be okay!?

Just now he looked more like a corpse than a human!

The demon went over to Captain Lou and inspected him carefully. She slowly ran her finger along where his wound used to be. He winced slightly, causing her hand to quickly pull back in a panic.

She took a few steps back and stared at him anxiously.

He held his head as he stared at her silently.

I couldn't tell what he was thinking.

Likewise, I couldn't tell what the demon was thinking either.

Captain Lou stared at her with a burning gaze and she returned the gaze with a blush, but strangely her gaze held no timidness.
