[11.3] Fate Will Keep Us Together

Cyrus huffed and crossed his arms. He looked away in irritation. Felix turned back to me with a smile, "Prince Cyrus is technically a descendent of a demon."

My eyes widened, "EH?!"

Even Zephyr looked surprised, "Since when do humans and demons mate?!"

Cyrus cut in, "It was a VERY long time ago. The amount of demon blood in me is so minuscule it shouldn't even be mentioned."

I frowned, "But if it is so minuscule, how would they know?"

He doesn't look like a demon…

Cyrus blushed under my stare, "T-That's… That's because…"

I clicked my tongue, "Because of what?!"

Felix smiled at him and rubbed his back, "Prince Cyrus, you shouldn't be so bashful. Can't you tell Reika isn't like the others? I'm sure she won't judge you."

I nodded, "I won't judge! I won't judge at all!"

Okay, I might judge.

However!

I am curious now. I have to know!

Cyrus looked at his feet and mumbled, "It's my attribute."

"Your attribute?"

Cyrus looked around to make sure we were alone. He pulled out his wand, "Alucinatio."

Around me, hundreds of lights spread around. Each place they touched, the scenery changed. We were transported to a mirror-like world with floating lanterns all around us. My eyes widened, reflecting the shimmering lights.

It is so beautiful...

He explained, "I have the Chaos attribute… I can create illusions."

The illusion faded away, returning us to our original position. I blinked, "And why is that so bad? That was really cool!!"

Zephyr shouted at me, "You idiot!!! The Choas attribute is only inherited by demonkind! If he can use it, it is clear he has demon blood inside of him!"

I glanced at Zephyr, <<Wait. You can tell who is human by their smell?>>

He answered, <<Yeah. Usually. There are always exceptions though.>>

<<What kind of exceptions?>>

<<If a demon is in a human body, he will still smell human. Likewise, it is really hard to distinguish between a selkie who can take a human form and a demon. They are too similar.>>

Cyrus spoke with a dark look on his face, "Now you can understand why the Royal family doesn't like me. I remind them of a dark past."

I looked away from Zephyr and turned to Cyrus, "I think your attribute is really awesome and one of a kind. Who cares about what your relatives think?"

Cyrus shrugged, "I wouldn't care, but they keep trying to kill me."

Caldwell spat out in anger, "Those d*mn relatives of yours! Why can't they just leave you alone?! It's not like you are hurting them!"

I tapped my chin. But wait…

A prince who is hated by the Royal family and is competing for the throne...

This kind of storyline sounds just like a main character from a novel! I must avoid this kind of person at all costs!

I cleared my throat, "Although I sympathize with you, I'm afraid I still can't join your side."

He smirked, "As I've said; I'm not giving up."

My face twitched, "You are a persistent one, aren't you?"

Felix chuckled, "Prince Cyrus doesn't like to admit defeat."

Cyrus winked at me, "And I am confident that you will say yes."

I crossed my arms as I looked at him. He is a tenacious little person, but he doesn't seem that bad. Maybe just a little annoying.

Actually, I just realized I have yet to smell them. Although I still don't understand what the colors mean, I have come to realize that the red-black color is typically not a good thing.

I leaned forward and sniffed Caldwell first.

A dark black smoke circled his body. It was too similar to the one I had seen with Zephyr. I understood what it meant immediately.

I nodded wisely, "I see. So that's how it is."

Caldwell: "?"

I then turned to Felix and leaned forward to smell him. Suddenly, a flower was thrust into my face. The smell was so strong I gagged.

He smiled at me, "Since it is our first meeting, I'd like to give you a petunia. I grew it myself."

I held my nose, "It reeks."

He chuckled with a gentle aura, "That's because it has very strong medicinal properties. If you keep it by your bedside, it will give you pleasant dreams and when you wake up you will feel more refreshed."

I shook my head, "That's okay. I'd rather not feel refreshed."

His eyebrows pinched together as his lip trembled. Tears started to form in his eyes, "You don't… Like it?"

Seeing him look so pitiful, I let out a groan. I snatched the flower from him, "I will take it! Just don't cry!"

His pitiful look disappeared as he giggled, "Yaay~"

I can't handle these children any longer.

I groaned, "Is the tour finished now? Can I go home?"

Cyrus nodded, "Yes. I will escort you back now. I will be over tomorrow morning to collect you for class."

I forced a smile, "That's not necessary…"

He smiled back just as fake, "It is necessary."

He grabbed my wrist and started to drag me back. Although it didn't hurt, my pride was damaged from being escorted by a child in such a way.

I clicked my tongue, "You don't have to bring me back like this. I can follow you. I'm not going to run away or anything since I actually WANT to be home."

He hesitated, "O-Oh… Right…"

Caldwell giggled, "Fufu~ Prince Cyrus… Did you just want to touch her?"

He turned red, "N-No way! Why would I want to hold her hand!?"

He snickered with a mischievous expression, "I didn't say anything about holding her hand."

"ARG!" Cyrus let go of me, "Whatever! Let's just go already!"

I felt my wrist where he had touched me. Why does it feel so odd?

I looked back at Cyrus and leaned close to his face as if I was possessed.

He leaned back in surprise with a slight blush on his cheeks.

*sniff sniff*

Just like the big bang, the area around him exploded in lights.

All around him was a rainbow of colors, moving and fusing together. Golden lights poured out from his body, blocking any darkness that lurked around.

He was like a lighthouse illuminating a rough sea during a storm.

My eyes couldn't help but be drawn to it.

It was so dazzling my mouth dropped, "So beautiful…"

His face burned red, "B-Beautiful!?"

But there was something different than what I've seen from other people.

In addition to the light, a thin red line went from my chest to his.

...I don't know what that means, but I don't like it.

That's all folks!
