Chapter 112 - Danvers Sisters Strike

Kara, Lena and Alex arrive back at the DEO, and everyone is chaotically moving around, walking back and forth between different rooms. Kara, Lena and Alex make their way through the people, and meet J'onn and Winn at the DEO command centre. As soon as the women arrive, they all notice that Winn and J'onn have worried looks on their faces, looking at several computer screens, showing images of various attacks on aliens across the country.

"What is going on?" Alex asks.

"Attacks have started.... across the country... on aliens." Winn explains.

"How did this happen?" Kara asks, confused, "I thought you said you couldn't find anything that really talked about plans for attacks on aliens on the dark web?"

"I.... I don't know...." Winn replies, in a lost voice, "I was monitoring the dark web even before this all kicked of..... and there was a lot of talk and hatred.... but nothing to this degree.... Nothing about planning a coordinated attack."

"That doesn't make sense." Alex says, "If these attacks are happening across the entire country, at the same time, then they must have been organised somehow."

"Yes." J'onn says, nodding his head, and turning around to look at Alex, Kara and Lena, "We believe that these attacks have been arranged outside of the dark web, and have been planned for a while."

"So.... that means.... it's Lex that has planned all this?" Lena asks, even though they already pretty much knew that.

"Yes." J'onn replies, nodding his head, "Just prior to these attacks taking place, Winn was able to ping a phone call originating somewhere in the area of Lex's bunker. Our belief is that Lex phoned someone, signalling for these attacks to begin."

"If that is the case, then it means that Lex has been planning these attacks, off of the dark web, for weeks." Alex says, "How did we miss that?"

"We missed it..." Winn begins, "because whatever he has been planning, he has made sure to keep it away from anywhere where we could see it. I'm guessing he's just been contacting people through disposable phones, or in person."

"That sounds like my brother." Lena says, nodding her head.

"Okay.... okay.... but.... why is Lex doing all this? I.... I don't understand..." Kara says, confused.

J'onn looks at Kara, and then sighs.

"He's doing all this..... because he knows what the DEOs response will be." J'onn explains.

"What do you mean, J'onn?" Kara asks, confused.

"I just received a direct order from the President. All DEO agents are being assigned to quell this civil unrest, meaning any current operations are being put on hold." J'onn says.

Kara's eyes go wide.

"But you can't do that!" Kara says, "If we don't go and save Kal now, then Lex will kill him!"

J'onn nods his head.

"Yes.... and I expect that is what Lex knows is going to happen. I'm sorry Kara.... but I can't disobey an order from the President, even if I want to. At the end of the day, the DEO is supposed to protect people from dangerous aliens, and aliens from dangerous people. Today we need to do that." J'onn says.

"Then..... if you are not going to go.... and save Kal..... I'll go on my own." Kara says, firmly.

"Kara, no!" Alex protests.

Lena, meanwhile, stays silent, with a worried look on her face.

"I have to do this. I can't not do anything. I could never live with myself if I didn't at least try and save Kal." Kara says, with a pleading look on her face.

"But if this is all Lex's plan, Kara, then you know this is what he is hoping for!" Alex says.

"Yes." Kara nods, "I know I'm walking into a trap. I know that this is going to be incredibly dangerous. But I'm still going to do it."

Alex looks at Kara in silence for a moment, her mouth opening and closing a few times, trying to think of things to say to Kara to get her to not do this. However, eventually, Alex comes to the conclusion that there is nothing she can say or do that will stop her sister.

"Then I'm coming with you." Alex says.

"No, you're not!" Kara quickly says to Alex, not wanting her sister anywhere near Lex and whatever he has planned if she is going to be going into a trap alone, without other DEO agents.

Alex quickly moves closer to Kara, leaving only a few inches of space between them, being a bit intimidating. Kara has always found this aspect of Alex to be incredibly strange, because, yes, Kara is intimidated by her sister when she does things like she is doing right now, even though Kara is the one with powers, and could never be physically hurt or even pushed by Alex. But, at the end of the day, Alex is, and always will be, Kara's big sister, so she will always have that sort of intimidating demeanour when needed.

"Kara, I'm not arguing this. I am coming with you. If you are going to be going into a trap, then I'm going into that trap by your side." Alex says, firmly.

"But..... but you don't have powers Alex.... I..... I can't worry about protecting you.... and if you got hurt..... or something happened..... I couldn't live with myself." Kara replies, hesitantly.

"And how do you think I would feel if you got hurt, or something happened to you, and I wasn't there fighting alongside you Kara?!" Alex snaps, "You can't say that, and then not understand I feel the same way about your safety!"

"But.... Alex.... I...." Kara stammers, not sure what else to say. Kara really does not want her sister to go with her, because a part of Kara thinks that this may be a one-way trip, and she doesn't want it to be a one-way trip for her sister too.

Lena reaches out and places a calming hand on one of Kara's shoulders. Kara, in turn, looks back at her girlfriend, who has a loving smile on her face.

"Let Alex go with you, darling." Lena says, on a soothing voice, "You're both amazing sisters. You can protect each other. Even if you have super powers, Kara, I don't want you going in there alone. I won't allow it."

Kara softens upon hearing Lena say that, hearing the almost plea in the brunette's voice, to at least let Alex come with her.

"O....okay...." Kara eventually relents, "But...... we have to be careful..... You can't just go charging in with me Alex....."

"I know." Alex nods, "That's why we will need a plan."

"How about Kara goes in first, and 'makes a lot of noise', distracting a large amount of the guards, and then Alex goes in second, and picks off any stragglers?" Winn suggests.

Kara turns to Winn with a smirk on her face.

"When did you become a strategist?" Kara asks, with a smile.

"It's all the video games I play." Winn replies, with a little shrug.

Kara, Alex and Winn all laugh at that.

"Yeah, well that sounds good to me. I'll try and stay as close behind you as possible Kara. But I'll make sure I'm safe, and taking on the guards you leave behind." Alex says.

"Good." Kara nods, "So.... is that our plan?"

"It sounds like it." J'onn says, "I really wish I could come with you both. But I can't leave my post as director of the DEO. But I do wish you both luck. Come back here, safely."
