Chapter 13

Kaeya explained what we needed to do, where the supposed treasure was, and most importantly when we needed to go to a place where the treasure was hidden to deal with the Hilichurls guarding it while allowing the Treasure Hoarders who knew of people going after the treasure and would attempt to take said treasure after we clear out a group of Hilichurls from the small Domain that housed the Treasure.

"Alright... Let's get going I guess." I said to Kaeya as Lumine nudged me when she turned around leaving the front gate of Mondstadt and heading back over the bridge to the countryside.

"Paimon is getting hungry from all this walking!" Paimon groaned holding her stomach as we made our way through the forest surrounding the eastern part of Mondstadt to get to the ocean coast as apparently the domain was buried in the surrounding cliff walls surrounding the sea.

Lumine looked around and seeing a fallen over tree, she pointed to it as she spoke. "Jake can you please gather some firewood; I will make us some lunch so Paimon's rumbling stomach doesn't awaken another tribe of Hilichurls."

Paimon stomped in the air as she rounded on Lumine who was smiling at her flying mascot. "That only happened one time!"

I just nodded ignoring Paimon bickering about how it was completely Lumine's fault as she didnt feed her supper after dinner that day, and how she couldn't have known that particular tribe of Hilichurls were so close.

After gathering some firewood, lit a fire, we simply cooked the sausage we had stored away in our spatial storage that we bought in Mondstadt.

"Lumine, I have a question," I asked as I was sitting beside her.

She looked up to me from where she was eating her food and hummed in response. "Lumine, I know you are a foreigner to this world," As she looked up at me in shock but not fear I shrugged. "I don't particularly care all that much but... I wanted you to know I am the same, I am not native to this world, and I wanted to know if it was possible if you could teach me some way to traverse worlds so I could possibly find my way back to my own world."

"Hmm, I thank you for trusting me with this information. And I guess your nature as an Outsider like me could explain why you could also use elemental energy without a vision." Lumine mused before her eyes sharpened on me. "As for world travel... I can't do it at all, as when me and my brother arrived at this world, a goddess attacked us, and we lost our original powers as we were sealed away."

Lumine held her arms out in a what can you do motion as she said contritely. "I am sorry you have been taken from your home world, but until I can regain my prior powers, I cannot ascend you like my people are, even if I wanted to."

I nodded in assent as it was obvious that Lumine and Aether were simply built differently in comparison to most worlds' humans especially when you consider the fact that they have a form of ageless immortality.

"By the way what was that silver energy you summoned back when we were fighting those Ruin Guards? Paimon thinks it looks really similar to Cryo energy and even feels a bit like it was born of some cold... It's so weird and I don't get it!" Paimon cried folding her arms and looking at me like I was an interesting enigma to be dissected.

For a moment I thought of just hiding away my powers and abilities but seeing Paimon and Lumine's curious faces I realized if I ever wanted to leave the world of Genshin Impact and become greater than an Archon and go back to a modern earth. I needed her to trust me.

I resolved myself to speak as truthfully as possible without telling her, she was some game character people controlled and her stories progressed in finding her brother, especially when I had no idea what happens after Inazuma.

I made my Aura move to the surface of my hands with a hum of thought and my hands glowed with a silver light I allowed Lumine and Paimon to curiously touch the thin membrane of Aura that coated my hand. "This is called Aura and although it can do a lot of things, the biggest things are its forcefield it applies around my body as well as my hereditary semblance."

After explaining what a semblance was, as an expression of a person's soul bring brought outside their body I pointed at the ground, and a large glyph formed with a large snowflake design being formed within the glyph. "I have the Schnee semblance despite as far as I am aware not being related to them as shown by my last name being Barris..."

I had no idea why I was changed into a Schnee though I had the thought that maybe whatever entity that sent me here was planning to send me to Remnant to cause drama as some random bastard Schnee as the realization that Willow Schnee somehow managed to hide carrying a whole pregnancy between the years Winter and Weiss were born would have brought a lot of drama to the kingdom of Atlas.

Paimon facepalmed and looked at me with a wry smile before she surprisingly gave me a gentle hug. "Jake, you haven't thought that the name Barris could mean bastard, do you?"

My face couldn't help but twitch as I considered grabbing Paimon's face and throwing her like a bowling ball into a tree but seemingly my anxiousness telling this information and wondering if I was ever going to see my home world of Earth again, and lastly Paimon's stupid comments made my semblance's glyph flare up and I felt a strong drain to my Aura as a large glowing silver Ruin Guard silently appeared and stood over Paimon.

"Hey Paimon... Next time you call someone a bastard maybe you should look behind you." I said as Lumine held my knee in an iron grip with how she was a bit nervous about what I was doing.

"Wahhh!!! Lumine save me, it's a Ruin Guard ghost!" Paimon screamed as she franticly flew behind Lumine, and I couldn't help bursting out laughing as she literally seemed to be trying to sprint through the air.

"The Schnee semblance is in essence the manipulation of these Glyphs, and although they can do a lot of things, they can all be dumbed down into two applications, the revival of foes the wielder of the semblance has slain previously and the manipulation of energy," I explained unsurely as although this summoning bit was fairly easy for me as I wasn't an angsty pile of insecurities like Weiss, I had zero clue how to use the energy manipulation glyphs she could control Dust easily and even control people's gravity and momentum as they went through her Glyph.

"Can the Ruin Guard carry us?" Lumine asked before she shook her head and smiled lightly. "The real question is how safe it is?" She asked, looking at me expectantly.

Looking at the Ruin Guard in front of me I mentally ordered for it to lift its clawed hand and as it did, Lumine couldn't help but giggle as the previously so fierce Ruin Guard waved to Lumine and Paimon before bowing and kneeled onto one knee.

"I am completely in control of it and yes although we can ride its shoulders, it isn't going to be a fast as a horse, and uhm... Those missiles might be shot somewhere uncomfortable if we don't move fast enough off it should a fight start." I said dryly.

"Wait!!! We need to get you to kill a Ruin Hunter, they have a much nicer head for us to sit on and they can freakin fly!" Paimon said dramatically as she grabbed my shirt and started shaking me.
