Vol 1:A Mysterious First Mission

Adam didn't wear his mask or carry any weapon as he made his way to Lynn house.

As soon as he arrived, he noticed that there was a cart in front of her house. So he decided to hide for a bit until the cart left.

30 minutes later, Adam saw two man walk out from Lynn house and into the cart.

After that they left.

That was Alexsender cart. What are they doing here? Well, nevermind that. I should meet Lynn and ask about it.

Adam look around before swifty goes into Lynn house without anyone noticing.

Lynn, who just after meeting Alexsender family, seemed tired and lay on the bed while letting out a sigh.

Lynn didn't notice that Adam was inside her room.

"What are you doing?" asked Adam out of the blue.

Lynn jumped a little because of the sudden sound.

After noticing it was Adam she lay back on her bed.

"You make me jump there... Adam. So, how is the selection going? I guest you pass it since you come back alive"

"Yeah I did pass. But it turns out that I'm still lacking actual experience when fighting a monster. Either way I got my hunter tag and also join a hunter guild"

"Huh, didn't you say you don't want to join any hunter guild? What makes you change your mind?" She asks while looking at Adam.

"..... It... a long story but to put it simple I make a contract with this guild which benefits me. But in return I have to be the vice leader of that hunter guild"

"You have already become a vice leader! That impressive" Lynn said with a smirk on her face.

Adam look at Lynn with displease before reply back "I am only staying there for 6 months. After that I will be leaving"

"Only for six months. Isn't that too quick? You might not get a chance again to find a trustworthy friend you know"

"I'm not looking to find a friend..... either way what are they doing just now?"

"Hmm?... Ohh you mean the Alexsender family. They just here dropping some gifts' ' Lynn said as she pointed toward a mountain of gifts on the corner of her room.

How did I not see that? Adam questions himself.

Adam sits down beside Lynn before speaking again.

"They are as persistent as always"

"Yeah, and it's getting annoying. If only I could escape from this set marriage and my stupid aunt and uncle"

Lynn said as she look on the ceiling.

Adam look at Lynn who had a sad and frustration look on her face.

Adam has been hiding his feelings toward Lynn since 3 years ago. But he is too scared that Lynn doesn't feel the same toward him.

So he kept the feeling to himself even after knowing that Lynn had been set to marry Ethan when she turned 18 years old.

For a moment there Adam starts to think of a way to help Lynn.

"Well there might be away"

Lynn looks toward Adam who is looking at the wall.

"but it might take time to prepared"

From laying down, she is sitting facing Adam who was beside her.

"Really?" Lynn ask with excitement

"It will be hard but-" Adam stops his word as he turns to look at Lynn. Her face is right in front of Adam.

Her beautiful face with those radiant green eyes and wavy black hair are now starring on Adam.

Adam can't help himself but blush as he quickly stands up from the spot.

"It will be possible but I assure you that you can escape from this marriage... I guess I should leave now"

"Huh, isn't it still early..... well I guess you got stuff to do since you are officially a hunter now, bye bye... Oh and also thanks Adam, you had always been there for me"

She waves her hand as Adam looks toward her before leaving the place.

As Adam walks toward his house he thinks about the idea of helping Lynn and also the fact that having Lynn could also be a weakness to him.

What if someday Lynn is used against me, what if I couldn't protect her..... I should not have this thought... she is my friend I need to help her.

Adam thinks as he walks.

[The next day]

Adam is preparing himself to go to the purple reaper guild.

Adam bring his long sword and crossbow.

He look at the twin pistol he got from Jack.

Should I bring this weapon?... Well why not, I need to get use on using this weapon either way.

The mask he is wearing is almost crack in two pieces.

"I should buy a new one," Adam said as he left his house.

After making a quick trip to the equipment shop he then went to the hunter guild.

It is located on the southwest of the city, which is pretty close to Adam house.

After walking for a few minutes, he arrived in front of the purple reaper hunter guild.

The guard who was sleeping while standing got spooked by Adam and immediately woken up.

"May I know your name, sir!"

"My name is Adam. I am a new member of this hunter guild"

"... Oh, so you are the new vice leader that Miss Rosa told about. Come in" the guard said before moving to the side.

Adam standing in front of the door of the hunter guild.

He could hear the noise of people laughing and playing inside.

Maybe it is livelier than what I thought.

Adam opened the door of the guild and suddenly the place went quiet.

Everyone is starring at the newcomer.

Didn't expect the mood to change this quickly.

The lady on the counter looks at Adam.

"I'm sorry but may I know who you are?" the lady asked politely.

Adam walked to the front of the counter.

"It's me, the guy with the mask. The one you and your master meet yesterday".

"..... Adam?"

"Yes"

"Oh it you. The new mask really makes you unrecognizable Adam. You should take a sit first. We are about to put the new quest on the board"

Without a word Adam takes a seat on one of the chairs.

The other member start to chit chatting.

"You heard what Miss May said.... that is Adam. The one leader chose to be the vice leader"

"I still don't understand why leader pick a new hunter to be the vice leader instead of other high rank hunter on this guild like Sai or Tasya"

"Maybe there is something special about this new guy that picks the leader's interest?"

"Yeah, or maybe she want to use him for a private time, hehehehe"

They all giggles.

Adam was able to hear all their conversation but still he sat quietly on the chair.

A moment later Miss May finishes putting all the quests on the board.

Other members start to take a look at the new quest.

As most of them were in front of the board some wonder why Adam still doesn't move.

Gradually the number of people in front of the board became less and less.

Until there is no one left in front of the board.

Adam finally stood up and walk in front of the board.

Adam takes a look at the quest that were left.

There is two boards. The board on the left is for monster hunting and any quest related to monster's. The board on the right is for bounty hunt, guarding, and more.

As Adam inspecting both boards, Miss May said "Since you are still a low level hunter you can only take a quest that matches your rank. But we could ignore this if your use your vice leader power"

"Thanks but I'm good. As a beginner I need to start from the lowest and climb my way up. There is no point of me to rush it"

Miss May was a little suprise by Adam words "Alright then. Just call me when you found the quest you wanted to do '' she said before going back behind the counter to do her work.

Adam kept on inspecting the board.....until something caught his eyes on the left board.

It was an old quest paper behind all the new quest papers.

Adam saw it was a tag for a beginner hunter, So he pulled the quest paper from the board.

It seems that nobody has tried taking this quest for a long time. It is already torn so much but still readable.

Unknown creature has been killing people that walk in the forest near the village. Most attack happened during night time.

unknown creature?.... If it an unknown creature why is it being put for a beginner and trainer only? The quest seen very suspicious... I should take it.

Then Adam go to the counter and put the quest paper on top of the counter.

"So, you found the quest you want to take?"

No reply

Miss May take a look at the quest paper. A moment later she ask Adam

"Are you sure you want to take this quest, Adam?"

"Yes"

She give a worried face before speaking again

"This quest paper arrived about two years ago. There are quite a few new members who took this quest in the past but.... none has come back. Since it is for beginner and trainer rank hunters only, a higher rank hunter can't take on this quest. Miss Rosa has make a request about the rank being too low on the place where quest paper being sort out but they still denied about the false rank"

Adam keeps on listening to Miss May.

She look at the quest paper "And because of that lower rank member didn't want to pick this quest and it was abandon here"

After listening to her story Adam speak

"It still will not change my mind about me taking on this quest"

Miss May sighing "Sigh, If you sure you can make it back alive I wouldn't stop you"

After writing the quest on "being work with" on the Quest book, she gives a copy of the original paper to Adam.

"Thanks, I will surely finish this quest. Bye, see you next time"

After that Adam left the guild.

"Next time" , Miss May said before going back to her work.

Then out of nowhere miss Rosa is in front of the counter.

"Waaaw '' Miss May was caught of guard.

With a smile on her face Miss Rosa ask "How was he? Isn't he nice?"

"Still as cold as before... but he seen like someone who know what he was doing"

She kept on smiling before speaking to someone ".... Sai, how long will you be sitting up there before taking a quest?"

From the thin air a person suddenly can be seen sitting on the chair upstair. He has a grenade on his front, a double barrel shotgun behind and a single magic pistol on his left pouch. He is wearing a brown hoodie that cover his head.

Miss Rosa kept talking before sitting on the chair behind her.

"You probably know that he notices you right?"

That mysterious person opened his mouth. He has a slight deepness to his voice.

"You.... bring quite an interesting person... Leader"

Miss May giggles before the point of view changes back to Adam.

Who is that person? I could sense that someone was there but I couldn't see him properly... Maybe just another member of the guild.

Either way, I need to buy something for this quest.

"That should do it"

"Come again next time sir"

Adam left the shop while carrying a giant beg.

The sound of metal can be heard as he walk.

The Plum village is on the edge of kingdom so it going to take a few day before I reach it. I also got no information on what creature I be hunting.... Need to do investigation when I got to the village.

Adam saw a cart a wave his hand. The cart stop in front of him.

The driver asked "Where do you want to go sir?"

"Plum Village"

"ermmmmmmm... It a long distance to reach that village. You need to pay ext-"

Adam threw a bag of silver coins on that driver.

"Hop in sir!"

Adam hopped in the cart and it started moving.

[2 days later, at night]

The cart suddenly stop.

"Si-sir this is as far as I can take you.... I am not going any further than this. I got a very bad feeling about going further. Y-you can have your mo-"

"It is alright. You can keep it. I walk on foot from here."

Adam hopped off from the cart with a big bag behind him.

He began walking.

The driver asked him "Sir, are you not going back?"

Adam stops on his track.

"I got a quest to do here. So I will keep going until I reach the village"

Quest? Is he an adventurer?.... No, only a Hunter does a scary job. The driver thought.

"We-well good luck on your quest" He said before turning the cart around and going off.

Adam continued his walking.

The sky is cloudy because I can't see the stars or moon.

The road and surrounding is filled with mist. I can not see very far. But.... something felt very off.

The sound of footing can be heard as he goes through the mist.

It is quiet... too quiet. No sound of animal or insect at all. My sense also does not detect any movement under ground.

What could be causing this?

He continue walking until he saw a light at the end of the mist.

The person on the watch tower could heard the sound of footsteps in the mist so he call the other guard and they prepare themself.

A person wearing a wood mask with a sword on his waist while carrying a big bag behind him emerges from the mist.

The guard call out to that person

"Who are you? And what business do you have here?"

The person stopped. He put down the bag behind him and pulled out a piece of paper.

"I am a Hunter..... and I come to do the quest your village send"

The guards could not believe that there was a hunter taking on this quest.

He quickly ordered the other guard to open the entrance.

The gate that was made from wood slowly opened.

"Come in. I will notice the chief"

Adam walk inside.

As soon as he walked inside he could see the village was surrounded by a tall log.

There are quite a few villagers who are still awake other than the guard.

They stare down the new person who enter the village.

All of them have dark circles under their eyes. They seem frightened and scared.

"!?"

"Chief this was the hunter I mention before"

Chief? He looks rather young to be a chief.

"Hello Hunter I am the chief of Plum Village, my name is Rowed Rayiel. Please, come inside my house"

After both of them enter the house, they sit down on the couch.

"I want to thank you for taking on this quest. The last time someone take on this quest was an year ago"

"You probably know about the other hunter didn't return after taking on this quest but still I want to thanks you"

Adam stays silent on the couch.

"There is a cabin on the corner of the village. You can rest there"

Adam thanked the chief. Then he started his investigation.

"....Thanks for your service but... I had a few questions regarding the creature that was killing people."

"Yes, I will answer you as much as I can"

"Now let's start with....."

The questioning session continue on until Adam, call it for the night.

Adam arrives at the cabin and enters it.

He put down the bag to the side and sat on the bed.

I didn't get as much information as what I had initially thought.

The simpler version of the story that I heard from the chief was that the first appearance of this creature was around 2 years ago.

A few villagers die when they enter the forest so they send a hunter quest but only bring more to the death count.

After a while there is no hunter picking up the quest and the chief has to make his own decision to protect the village.

There was only one witness that was still alive and saw this creature fully. It was a kid named David.

The chief said it was 8 months ago when he saw the creature but the kid is still traumatized until today.

"Sigh" Adam lay on the bed thinking about this problem.

The only useful information that I got was the fact that the creature can walk on four or two legs. The chief said when it was on two legs, the creature was about two meters tall.

The chief also said that all the attack happened from dawn until sunrise. There no attack happen during daytime.

"To gain more information I need to talk to the kid..... this is going to be hard" Adam said with frustration.

[The morning arrive]

Adam awakens and walks around the village. Everything seemed normal but from deep inside I could sense the fear that this villager had to endure.

I need to finish this quest quickly.

To earn information I need to get their trust. To earn the trust I need to have a good relationship. And good relationships can be made by....

Adam turned to look to his right. The village had a problem with water supply from the river.

helping others.

He slowly approaching the person who was looking at the low water supply.

"This is bad. If this continues we will not have enough food supply for everyone".

"Can I help you"

The man got jump scared by the sudden voice.

".... Oh, it you...Hunter." that man took a deep breath.

"What is the problem here?"

"The water supply from the river has been in shortage. It could be that the watermill was broken. If we do not fix the problem we will run out of food."

"So, basically saying the water supply need to be fix"

"Yeah, the watermill could had brokedown"

"Why is nobody fixing it?"

"You probably know the reason already"

"....Then, how about I help you?"

"Are you sure Mr Hunter?"

"I could defend myself. So why not"

"We are very thankful for your kindness. If you go to the store house you can find spare part for the water mill, extra wood, hammer, nail, and the watermill manu"

Adam nodded and respon " I will be back soon"

Adam goes to the storehouse and take everything he needed.

Some villagers look at Adam with curiosity.

"Is he really going to fix the watermill?"

"Isn't he scared of being attacked?"

"He probably could defense himself"

"How come you be so sure. Don't you remember what happened on the last Hunter who come to kill the monster."

"Yeah,yeah I know but..... we could only rely on him now to fix the watermill. If not we will be starving"

The villagers stay silent.

It looks like they are really scared of whatever this thing is.

As Adam walks out from the gate the guard asks"Where are you going Mr Hunter?"

"I'm going to fix the water mill."

"Uhh... alright. Thank you Mr Hunter you are the savior of our village.... But please, be careful"

Adam follows where the water came from until he reaches the river.

Then he saw the broken water mill.

I didn't feel anything unusual when going inside the forest. I thought there would be no fish as well but I was mistaken.

Adam thought as he saw a fish swimming around in the river.

"Alright time to fix this thing" Adam said as he rolled his sleeve.

30 minutes later he finish fixing the broken watermill and the water problem finally fix.

The villagers thanked him. He then met the chief to see the sole person who had seen this creature.

The chief knocks on the house of David's parents.

"Knock,knock"

Few seconds later the door was open.

"H-how can I help you chief?" a thin woman opens the door.

She looked so frail and her shin was pale.

"I am here looking for David, " the chief said.

The thin woman looked at Adam before letting them inside.

"Y-you can find David upstairs" the woman said.

The chief signal to Adam and he went upstairs.

Adam arrives in front of the door and slowly opens it.

The room was messy. The only light that was inside the room was from the window.

At the corner of the room a child can be seen sitting facing the wall.

Adam slowly approached the child "Are you David?"

No reply.

"I am here to gain information about this creature that has been killing people."

"....."

"You are probably still traumatized... But I assure you I will kill this creature and bring the peace this village once has. If you help me this thing can be resolved much faster, think about it"

Still no reply and Adam left the room.

The chief ask "Did you gain any information?"

"No. There is no point in trying to push him any further.... it only will make things harder"

The women spoke "I'm sorry I couldn't help you with anything"

"It's alright, it is not your fault... You should get some rest"

Adam said before they left the woman's house.

To gain any information is going to be hard. I should do more stuff to earn their trust more.

The chief spoke to Adam "I sorry Mr Hunter. We couldn't provide you with more information".

"It's alright I will figure it out myself... Either way chief, are there any more problems this village has?"

"Why so sudden?... There is a few of it."

"Can I fix it for you?"

"ummmmm, if you insisted"

Adam then goes around fixing all the problem the chief has said.

Help farming, build a new wall, fix the broken water well, fix the watchtower, help fix broken rooftop, help getting woods and more.

The mood inside the village become lively for the first time in a while.

Slowly but surely the villagers open up themself toward Adam and Adam earn their trust.

From inside David's house, David could hear the commotion that was happening outside.

He was still scared but out of curiosity he finally peaked from his window and saw Adam was playing with the villagers childrens.

Adam noticed that David was looking but he kept on playing with the other kids.

It's getting late. I should prepare already.

"Kids it time to stop playing, I need to do something"

"Ahhhh, but we want to play more"

"It alright next time we will play a lot more games together"

The villagers kid left and Adam went to pick his stuff inside the cabin.

In a fews more hours the sun will set. It's time for me to set up the traps.

Adam walked outside the village with the big bag he had.

A few concerne villagers ask Adam "What are you doing Mr Hunter?"

"!?. Oh, I'm just going inside the forest to set up traps. I will be back before sunset"

"Please. Please be careful"

"Alright I will"

Adam goes inside the forest while on his guard for any sudden attack.

Adam scouts the whole forest and sets up quite a lot of traps.

"This should do it" Adam said as he finish setting his last trap.

There are three types of traps Adam put inside the forest.

One, was the bear trap he brought.

Second, the trap he makes himself by using the stuff he can find.

And the last one was a trap made from magic. He made the trap by using magic enchantment.

Afterward he went back to the village to prepare himself for the night.

But it still bothers Adam, because there is no sign of a monster at all. Nor do animals and insects except for fish.

What is happening here? Adam questions but all he can do is just prepare as much as possible.

An hour before sunset. Adam was inside the cabin. someone knocks on the door.

"Come in"

A thin looking boy enter.

"Do you want something?" Adam asks as he organizes his weapons.

"D- Do you really going to kill that thing?"

"Of course I am. It my job after all"

"I.... I.....I"

The same words keep repeating from the boy's mouth.

It looks like he still can't talk about it openly.

"You don't have to force yourself to say it if it's really hard... How about you take a walk with me?"

Adam propos to the boy. The boys silencely nod his head.

Adam brings his crossbow and a few arrows before leaving the cabin with the boy.

The boy slowly follows behind Adam until he stop walking when Adam walks outside the hate.

"Whe-where are we going?"

"!?... When I was going to the forest I saw a clear grass fill not too far here. I plan to bring you there. Don't be scared I will protect you"

Adam let out his hand toward David.

David hesitated but still took his hand.

After arriving at the grass fill Adam takes out his crossbow and reloads it with a single arrow.

"Let's have a target practice"

Adam give the crossbow to David

"Bu-but I've never used a crossbow before!"

"It is call practice. If you miss the shot, nothing will happen"

In Front of Adam there was a tree. He then use magic enchantment to create a magic shape like a target.

Adam walked to the side and shouted to David "Alright now aim at the target!"

David had a hard time handling the crossbow because the crossbow is big on his hand.

He was shaking but still shot the crossbow.

"Pheww" the shot completely miss the target.

"Try again" Adam throws another arrow to David.

David slowly reloads the crossbow. He is shaking as he aims the crossbow.

Adam, who was looking at David shaking, decided to say something to make him focus.

"Focus!. Don't let the monster scare you... Aim on the target. You want to overcome the fear right. Then stop shaking. Don't let the same thing happened again"

The memories of the monster attacking flash as he aims.

"David! Getaway know!"

"Bu-but Dad!"

The monster had wounded the person.

"Tell you mom... I love her"

That second later the person's head got eaten off.

At that time I was powerless and my selfishness resulting my father dead.

I could only run.

His eyes were flowing with tiers.

The target that was in front of him changed to the monster.

He aimed toward the monster even while crying.... but there was no sound. Only focus and determination can be seen on his face.

David pulls the trigger to the crossbow.

"Phew... Bang"

It hits the target. Adam looked at the target and was shocked a little because he hit the bulls eyes.

David then had a breakdown on the clear grass fill. He cried and cried again.

Words cannot describe how much pain this 7 years old had to endure.

Adam look at David and saw his past self. Adam also reminded of the pain of losing his family.

Adam then goes toward David before kneeling down and hug him.

"It alright, just let it out...Let it all out"

When they arrive back at the village it is already sunset.

The guard close the gate and prepared themself for the night.

"Mr"

"Yes"

"... The monster....wear a deer skull on it head"

"...Continue on"

"It could shapeshift into a person and mimic a person's voice..... 8 months ago I was curious about what was inside the forest and had snuck out from the village at sunset.

My father noticed me sneaking out and followed me".

Adam continues hearing the boy's story.

"I run until I reach the river but my father manages to catch up to me. He warned me about the danger and persuaded me to come back home... Then suddenly the place was full of mist. My father and I were about to leave the place when we heard a girl crying and asking for help.

My father couldn't just left the girl behind so he instruct me to head back while he go get the girl.

I disobey his order and follow him to the mist"

"When I almost reached him he was about 5 meters from the girl crying and asking for help.

But.... Something seems wrong about this girl. The girl turned to look at my father while crying and said the word help. But the girl's eyes were red and like a predator's eyes..... Those eyes are not human eyes.

My father noticed this and turned around to run. The girl then changes its shape toward a skinny,tall, dark-colored and hairless monster wearing a deer skull.

My father saw me frozen and shouted at me. "David run" that he got hit by the monster's huge claw and his left stomach was blown away.

He fell to the ground and said the words to me "Tell your mother I love her". Then the monster opened its mouth and bit my dad's head off.

I turn around and run away as fast as I can. I could feel the ground shaking as it closed in on me. But the shakiness stopped when I reached the villagers who went searching for me and my dad.

Since that day I was traumatized and keep my self inside the house."

Adam nod in understanding and pet the little boy head. "You did well even after what happened.... Don't cry you are not weak. Thanks for the information. Now leave it all to me. I will avenge everyone who has died because of that monster".

Adam sent David home and he went inside the cabin.

I got information about this monster.

Can walk on two or four legs.

About 3 meters while standing.

Has dark skin color with no hair.

wear a deer skull on its head.

Can turn into a child.... or more??

Can make a thick fog... how much area does it cover??

Has an eye like a predator with red colour.

Strong enough to kill adult human with a single attack.

Has a mouth that can fit a human head.

maybe has a bigger mouth?

Can vanish in a blink of an eye.

super speed or invisibility?

There are still a few more things unconfirm about this monster, but still I never read or see anything that had described such a beast before.

"Still some missing information but it's fine I got a lot more than what I had expected. It about time I go"

Bringing his weapons he head out to the forest.

As he was leaving, the villagers wished him good luck on the hunt.

Carrying his long sword, crossbow, quiver and the twin pistol Adam make his way to the forest.

Out of the blue, a thick fog suddenly appeared.

It was so foggy that you probably couldn't see 2 meters ahead of you.

Adam jumps to the tree branches.

This is much better. The fog is thick but it can cover until this high above. Now I should check the trap I already set.

Adam continues on jumping to the tree branches.

...

....

4 hours laters, nothing really happened.

Adam stops jumping from branch to branch.

This is weird..... None of the traps I set are triggered. I also didn't sense anything during that time. What is happening here?

Adam couldn't come up with a solution to why he was unable to find any clues to where this monster was.

As Adam was thinking a drip of sweat fell from his mash.

Adam wipe the sweat from his mask... Then, something click on his thought as he look at his hand he use to wipe his sweat.

.... Maybe.... is it waiting for me to get tired?

At almost the same time, Adam senses a fast movement coming from his left.

Adam withdraws his sword and something jumps from the ground below.

"Clangggg" the sound of two hard thing colliding was made.

Adam managed to block the incoming attack but he fell from the tree branches.

Adam quick standup by doing back roll.

He holds the long sword with both of his hands, and in ready position.

"My thought are correct..... The monster was waiting for me to get tired. This mean it must have some intelligent"

The thick fog make Adam unable to see a head of him. So, he tried to focus on his sense of hearing....but it took a turn for the worse when his hearing started ringing.

Adam put the sword in front of him vertically and used the other arm to support the blocking then.

A huge force hit Adam's sword. He was sent back a few meters back.

This is bad.

Adam is unable to focus in front of him as his senses are in disorder.

Adam's vision is hazy.

his nose is not picking anything.

His thung are numb.

His ears are ringing.

and his entire body are shaking.

Adam blocks another attack coming from his right. The force pushes Adam backward toward a tree.

I used too much of my senses.... that was a mistake..... Now my senses are running wild.

Adam thought as he breathed heavily and his back against the tree.

His sense will slowly come back but he can't enchant his senses anymore because if he does it he could loss the sense completely.

So, the best possible move Adam can think of was running.

The monster jumps toward Adam and he dodge it by jumping to the side.

The tree that was behind him before now has been cut.

Adam turns around and starts running. He dash through the forest without hesitation even in a thick fog.

I already know the route of this forest after going in it for 4 hours straight. So I don't have to use my senses to know if there was an obstacle or not. Now, I need to lure it to my trap to weaken it and have time cool down my senses.

The grass behind him can be heard rustling.

But Adam continues on his run as he closes in on his trap.

He then jumps to avoid stepping on his trap.

Adam immediately turns around while aiming his twin pistol.

Soon he could see the creature that was chasing him.

"It is just like how David describe it!?"

Unbeknownst to the monster that it has already stepped on the trap.

A pin release sound could be heard and the bear trap closed itself.

"Aughhhhhhhhh" the minister screamed as the trap caught his left leg.

Adam shot his pistol at the monster.

"Pew,pew,pew"

Cango frieze and task took a chunk of meat from the monster.

The monster surprisingly didn't take as much damage as what Adam had thought.

It then broke the trap and lungs on Adam.

Swiftly Adam slid down the monster and started running again to the other trap he had set up.

The cat and dog chase continue on for the next 2 hours.

"Huff, huff, huff the monster should be severely weakened at this point. Even after falling for all my trap it still going in strong. It also able to injured me"

Adam said as he held his bleeding shoulder.

"I'm also not in a good spot. I finally got tired after running for 6 hours straight. Not to mention the monster able to corner be to going back to the village.Huff, huff, huff"

"It probably much better to fight here instead of going to the village and risk, it killing the villager"

Adam stops running and turns around to face the monster... but the monster is nowhere to be found.

I'm sure that the monsters were following me....

Adam looked around him as he drawn-out his sword.

Without even realizing it, Adam could feel the breathing of the monster in front of him.

Adam swung his sword forward but he got hit on his stomach first before he was able to swing it fully.

The hit was so strong that Adam was sent crushing in on the wall that was made to protect the village.

5 minutes before Adam crash through the wall.

Inside the village.

It is still early in the morning but all the villagers have woken up because of the loud scream coming from the forest. All of the villager's had gathered in the middle of the village.

David, who is worried about Adam, asks the chief.

"Will Mr Hunter be fine out there alone?" David asks with a worried face.

The chief then said "He will be alright, we got to trust him".

This makes David less worried but the chief knows how hard the fight must be because he had been in the forest for a long time.

Suddenly, "Brummm" the wall that made out of wood from behind the village explode and break.

The villager's all went into hiding and the people on guards standing in front of the hiding villager's to protect them.

From the dust someone can be seen trying to stand up and from the broken wall and a scary creature is running to that person.

Back to Adam.

He let out a puke of blood as he tried to stand up.

Invisibility!? So, my deduction is almost correct. But because of not having more information I was caught off guard.

As the smoke from the debris went away Adam saw himself at the center of the village.

The hiding villager and the guard look at Adam who was severely injured.

Adam had no time to think as the monster running toward him.

Adam drawn-out his long sword and prepared to fight the monster.

The monster lunges and attacks Adam with his claw but Adam manages to stop it with his sword.

Adam pushes back the monster.

This time Adam is attacking.

He dash toward the monster and swing his sword upward.

"Shooshh" the attack missed by a strain of hair.

Then a set of attack and dodge happend.

Even for the monster big size it still is able to move very fast.

The monster starts attacking Adam continuously. Adam keeps on blocking and parrying the attack.

But because of its speed Adam's defense finally broke and his sword was flung away.

Adam jumped back and took out his twin pistol and started shooting on the monster.

The monster swiftly dodge the incoming attack and attack Adam back.

"Strengthen" Adam uses magic mantra to straighten his left right arm blocking the sharp claw before crushing it on one of the villager houses.

"Braaam"

The villagers are now looking at the creature that they have been afraid of for 2 years.

The monster saw the villager and was about to attack them.... When suddenly, an arrow pierces its shoulder.

"I am over here monster".

The monster then ran toward Adam.

The monster grabs Adam by the neck as he tries to shoot the crossbow.

The crossbow was slapped away and landed in front of David who is taking refuge.

The monster proceed to throw Adam to the wall.

Right after that, it jumps on top of Adam and tries to attack him with its sharp claws.

Adam manages to block it using his sword.

The creature, unable to make its claw reach Adam who was pushing it back, suddenly opens its mouth and tries to bite Adam's head.... But miss me by a few centimeters off.

Adam struggles to push back the creature.

I don't have much strength left, think, think, think of something quickly.

The creature mouth is getting closer to biting Adam

Then unexpectedly.. "Phew"

An arrow pierce both sides of the creature's cheeks.

With the creature in pain Adam manage to push back and kick the creature away.

Adam turned to look who shot the arrow and it was David who had picked up his crossbow.

David then threw back the crossbow at Adam and said " Don't lose, Mr Hunter... You already made a promise! That you will avenge everyone who has died right!".

Adam stared at David and without even him knowing it Adam was smiling under the mask.

He turns to look at the monster who is still in pain.

"Who cares if I reveal my power here..... I will kill this monster no matter what"

The creature pulls out the arrow and looks toward Adam.

When suddenly, the pressure changes.

Everyone , even the monster, can feel the pressure changing.

Adam was on ready stance, when a very dark looking substance covered his entire long sword.

The creature could feel the death aura ammeting from the sword Adam is holding. It knew if it got hit with the sword it would die but still it didn't back down.

The place went quiet as Adam faced the monster.

Adam inhale before saying a single word

"Null"

A crater was made and Adam was gone from the view.

For a second the surrounding when black.

A couple of seconds later the villager notices the creature is..... gone. The only one they saw was Adam who was at the spot where the monster was before, with his sword touching the ground.

What happens? The villagers questioned themself.

A moment later the long sword Adam was holding broke to multiple pieces.

"... I pour too much dark magic into the sword..... it couldn't handle the intensity of the concentrated dark magic and because of the big output it broke"

Adam walk toward the villager and try to ensure them the creature had been kill

"The monster has been defeated you don't have to worry anym-"

Adam collapsed to the ground.

I am using too much mana and stamina on that attack..... I'm losing my consciousness.

Adam thought as his view slowly fading away.

He could hear the villager getting closer to him before he faded.
