Chapter 7

A week later, Hyejin was eating with her friends at the cafeteria while they talk together during lunch time.

"Hyejin, you've been staring at Hyunwoo for a while now." Jiyoon playfully hits Hyejin with her elbow as her and the other girls smirked.

"Wh-Wha-?!" Hyejin looked away from Hyunwoo and blushed.

"It's only been two months and a half since he transferred here. I heard you even stayed over at his house, hehe..." Aerin grinned while she and the other girls had the same thought in mind.

"No, it wasn't like anything you're thinking. Junghoo just wanted to play with Hyunwoo's siblings at their house, so... I accompanied him there."

"Is she a psychic? How'd she know I was thinking about that?" The girls thought to theirselves with a dumbfounded face.

"Anyways, why were you staring at him?" They asked once again with a bigger grin on their faces and Hyejin had no choice but to tell them why.

"I just... thought Hyunwoo's hair was getting longer and I imagined him in different haircuts."

"You think so?" A voice from behind sent shivers down their spine and they did not move a single muscle.

Hyunwoo was standing behind Hyejin while holding his empty tray.

"Hmm... I think the same." Jinho ruffled Hyunwoo's hair who was fighting the urge to smack his face with a metal tray.

"I could get a haircut then... I haven't cut my hair for like three months now." Hyunwoo holds some strands of his hair.

"You should come to my mom's hair salon. I'll get you a hair cut there for free!" Sungmin invited Hyunwoo to his mother's hair salon.

"N-No, there's no need to give me a free haircut. I'll pay."

"It's alright! Haha! We should go get a haircut together since I'm thinking of getting one as well."

"I wonder... what haircut is Hyunwoo getting?" Hyejin pondered, thinking of different haircut on Hyunwoo.

The next day, Hyejin was sitting in her desk while she waits with her classmates wait for their teacher and other classmates to arrive until they heard the voices of girls screaming outside.

"What's going on out there?"

"I don't know. Judging by the way they're screaming, they must've seen someone—" Aerin cut her sentence short when three figures entered the room together.

"H-Hyunwoo! Hyunwoo's gotten a mullet! A short and messy one! He's so cool!" Aerin pointed at Hyunwoo while blushing.

"G... Good morning..." Hyunwoo greeted Hyejin, Aerin and Jiyoon.

"Man up, Hyunwoo! You look cool in it!" Sungmin laughed and playfully slapped Hyunwoo's back.

"Sungmin's mother really had to put this haircut on me, now I feel like I look like a gang member in high school... Bury me, right now... Hyejin's not even saying anything about my haircut... How can I man up when I don't even know if she'll say it's good or bad..." Hyunwoo thought to himself, anxiously.

"What do you think, Hyejin? It looks good, right? My mom did his hair cut!"

"I still envy that bastard... He was going for his usual haircut, but my mom stopped midway and suggested that that short and messy mullet looks good on him. But when I asked her to get me a mullet, she just shaved my whole head off." Sungmin complained as he started cursing Hyunwoo.

"I... I guess it looks good... on Hyunwoo." Hyejin looked away from him.

"I guess... huh?" A whole meteorite with Hyunwoo's name on it just fell on top of him and buried him six feet deep.

"Thanks..." Hyunwoo walks away with a heavy air around him.

They realized the hallway has become quiet and the door opens with their teacher standing there.

"Alright class, I have a minor announcement. The faculty and I have decided to move seats just a week before exam day for some reason."

"We're pretty sure we know why even though we aren't going to do it..."

"Anyways, just pick a piece of paper in this box and you'll sit on the chair with the same number you picked."

"Okay."

Hyejin stood with a deadpanned face in front of her new seat while looking at the piece of paper on her hand.

"I can't tell whether this is punishment or a gift given by the gods..."

"I never expected I'd get to sit right next to you, Hyejin." Hyunwoo smiled at her and it felt like a bright beam of light has blinded her.

"Y-Yeah, neither did I." Hyejin awkwardly laughed as she sat on her seat.

"Now that everyone has gotten to their new seats, let's start our discussion for today."

"... As I thought, I knew I would look bad with this haircut on. I can already tell she's uncomfortable with this look of me... I'm gonna get a haircut after school today..."

Lunch time finally arrived, the students gathered at the cafeteria to eat. But Hyejin and her friends felt something odd today.

"I think this is the first time I haven't seen Hyunwoo and his friends at the cafeteria." Jiyoon finally pointed it out.

"Now that you said that... They must've prepared lunch and ate at the classroom."

A few minutes before lunch ends, Hyejin returned to the classroom with her friends. What she saw on the way in was Hyunwoo, sleeping on his desk.

"Hyunwoo's still sleeping. The teacher is about to arrive." The teacher finally arrived the exact moment Hyejin finished her sentence.

"Hello, class. Is everyone here?"

"Hm. Seems like Hyunwoo is sleeping. Wake him up, Hyejin."

"Yes."

Hyejin extends her hand to Hyunwoo, just before she could wake him up, Hyunwoo wake up on his own and looked at Hyejin extending her hand towards him.

Hyejin flinched when Hyunwoo turned his head towards her.

"The teacher's here. She told me to... to wake you up." She immediately retracted her hand and looked away.

"She won't even look at me... I just wanna go home and get a new hair cut. I knew this wouldn't suit me." Hyunwoo secretly cursed his haircut as his body turned pale white.

Later, Hyunwoo was drawing the structure of the muscle that they were being taught by their teacher.

"The structure of a muscle be the last lesson for this term before the exam. Make sure you write this down on your notes because this will be in your exam."

Hyejin glances at Hyunwoo and she was surprised to see him drawing the structure of the muscle in his notes while labeling it.

"This is the first time I've seen Hyunwoo drawing... It's even better than the teacher's drawing... Does he want to study fine arts in college?"

"Alright, that's for today's biology class. I'll let you all go. See you again tomorrow."

The teacher left and all of them let out a tired sigh of relief.

"We can finally go home now..."

"I'll be on my way." Hyunwoo said as he packs up his things.

"Okay. Good work today." Hyejin said while looking away.

"Is it really that bad?" Hyunwoo wondered as he walks towards Jinho and Sungmin.

"Sungmin, could you teach me where your mother's hair salon is at again? I'm gonna bring my old haircut back."

"What? You're getting a haircut again?"

"What? You're getting your mullet cut? I think it looks good on you. Did someone say it doesn't look good?" Jinho asked with a shocked face.

"I thought it doesn't suit me." Hyunwoo scratched his cheek while he nervously laughed.

"I see. I'm not in any place to tell what haircut you should get. I'll bring you there and free haircut again!"

"Haha, there's really no need to get me a haircut for free." Hyunwoo embarrassingly said.

Meanwhile, Hyejin was packing up her things and froze when she heard the conversation.

"Hyunwoo, wait!" Hyejin called Hyunwoo before he could leave the classroom with his friends.

"Hm? What is it?" Hyunwoo stopped walking and turned his head.

"Let's talk." Hyejin said and Hyunwoo replied with a simple "okay."

"You can go figure out your relationship problems. We can wait for you outside the school gate." Sungmin and Jinho whistled while walking away.

"... Huh...?" Hyunwoo cluelessly tilted his head as Hyejin arrived to his side.

"Let's talk somewhere."

"Yeah, sure." Hyunwoo followed Hyejin to outside the classroom and led him outside the school building.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

"... Please, don't get your hair cut again. I like— No, I love it!" Hyejin shouted, surprising him and a random student passing by.

"... I see... That's a relief. I actually thought you didn't like it, haha." Hyunwoo's cheeks turned red as he laughed.

"H-He's blushing!" Hyejin was a bit taken back to see Hyunwoo blushing for the first time.

"Why'd you think I didn't like it?"

"Well, I noticed you were avoiding me today and you were looking away. I just thought I really didn't look good with this." Hyunwoo explained and Hyejin stood there, completely stupefied.

"So... I was the reason why? Maybe I should just disappear from the face of the Earth." Hyejin gets ready to board a rocket ship to space.

"But, a lot of people were telling you it looks good on you. Why'd you only think of what I think about it?"

"Who knows. I feel like I just want to look good around you." Hyunwoo looked away to hide his blush.

"Don't tell me... He's very self-conscious when he's around me..." Hyejin has finally realized it.

Hyunwoo ended up not getting his hair cut and just head to work.
