Chapter 28: The Next Step
Ronnie’s POV
When I wake up, I feel Nancy’s slow even breaths in the crook of my neck. It feels right waking up next to her. I’ve always imagined sharing a bed with someone all night would be bothersome; fighting over the blankets and who has more space on their end.
It all seemed irritating before, but not now.
Trying not to wake Nancy up before she’s ready, I slowly slide out of bed and dress in jeans and a sweatshirt. I grab our clothes thrown on the floor from last night and set them in the laundry basket.
Looking at the time, I see it’s only 7 AM. I don’t have to be in the office until 9 AM, but I genuinely don’t want to go in today. I’d rather spend the day with Nancy and show her I can be a changed man. If I absolutely have work to do, it can be done from my home office.
