"I WANNA BE PRESIDENT, LET ME DO IT!" Kirishima yelled enthusiastically, leaping out of his seat and raising his hands high as if the position were a life-or-death battle.
"IN MY ADMINISTRATION, GIRLS WILL HAVE TO SHOW 30CM OF THIGHS!!!!" Mineta roared, his voice filled with gleeful audacity. The class collectively groaned as Yaoyarozu, her face filled with irritation, grabbed Mineta by his collar and dragged him away from the group.
'Is that really all he thinks about?' Shiro wondered, watching as Mineta sheepishly returned to his seat beside him.
From the back of the crowd, Jiro turned her attention to Shiro. "You're not interested in becoming a class rep either? Or do you just not think the position is that special?"
"The latter," Shiro replied, leaning back in his chair with a disinterested expression.
"Suit yourself," Jiro said, shrugging before pushing through the crowd. She raised her hand and called out, "I'd like to do it!"
The crowd's enthusiasm swelled again as more students clamored for the coveted position. Meanwhile, the only ones who remained seated were Bakugo, Midoriya, Uraraka, Shiro, Todoroki, and Ida.
Looking over at Uraraka, Shiro thought, 'So she isn't going to bother joining in...'
Turning his head, Shiro locked eyes with Todoroki. The half-and-half student's glare was sharp and fiery, his mismatched eyes practically boring into Shiro.
'I forgot about him...' Shiro thought, quickly turning back around. 'It's going to be awkward every time I turn around now...'
The chaotic shouting continued until Ida stood up abruptly. His booming voice sliced through the noise like a sharp blade. "Leading people is a heavy responsibility! It's a task only the most competent individual can do! If this is to be a democracy, then I put forward the motion that we vote!"
The class instantly fell silent at Ida's declaration, his commanding tone leaving no room for argument.
"This is just a classroom, dude, not Congress..." Mineta muttered, his earlier enthusiasm replaced with a bored expression.
Asui nodded in agreement. "We don't even know each other that well," she added, her tone matter-of-fact.
Kirishima chimed in, grinning sheepishly. "Right! Everyone will just vote for themselves!"
Adjusting his glasses, Ida continued with unwavering determination. "That's precisely why anyone who gets the most votes is the best-suited individual for the job!"
"That seems like a good idea..." Ashido said, tapping her chin thoughtfully.
"Not too shabby, Ida," Kaminari added, giving him a thumbs-up.
Encouraged by his classmates' approval, Ida turned to Aizawa and asked, "Sensei! May we cast a vote?"
Aizawa, who looked utterly uninterested, waved a dismissive hand. "Do it however you want, just be quick about it."
After some brief discussion, the class prepared and cast their votes, writing down their choices on small pieces of paper and depositing them into a makeshift ballot box. Once everyone had voted, the results were tallied.
Midoriya received a total of 3 votes, while Shiro and Yaoyarozu each received 2.
'I wasn't interested in being Vice-President,' Shiro thought, his brow furrowing slightly as he glanced at the results.
"How did you get two votes when you didn't want to be Vice-President?" Jiro asked, feigning confusion with a sly grin.
"You voted for me!" Shiro snapped, his voice rising in mock indignation.
Jiro burst into laughter, clearly amused by his reaction.
Standing up, Yaoyarozu walked gracefully over to Shiro's desk. "We should each do a speech, and our classmates can choose between us," she said, her voice calm and composed.
As Shiro opened his mouth to protest, a bright red notification screen suddenly appeared in front of him, floating ominously.
[Quest: Kill Momo Yaoyarozu. Reward: 50,000XP]
"Huh?" Shiro said aloud, his confusion evident.
'What do you mean by that, System?' Shiro thought, his eyes narrowing as he glared at the screen.
"Shiro?" Yaoyarozu said, tilting her head slightly as she studied his expression. 'What's he thinking about?' she wondered.
[It's quite obvious what is meant by the mission,] the system replied coldly.
'Aren't you here to help me in my journey of atonement?' Shiro demanded internally.
[I'm only here to make you stronger. I am a System, not a therapist,] the system responded with mechanical detachment.
Shiro's mind raced. 'It's showing a lot more personality than before... What's happened to it? Kill Yaoyarozu? That's absurd. I won't be accepting that,' he thought firmly, dismissing the system with a wave of defiance.
Mineta, who had been poking Shiro's forehead repeatedly to get his attention, finally said, "Hey, it's not kind to ignore a hot babe that's trying to speak to you."
"Huh?!" Yaoyarozu exclaimed, her cheeks flushing pink with embarrassment.
Shiro, snapping out of his thoughts, turned to Yaoyarozu and said, "What were you saying?"
Yaoyarozu sighed, crossing her arms. "You really didn't hear a thing, did you?" she asked, a hint of exasperation in her tone.
"She said you should both do speeches—" Mineta began, but Shiro quickly cut him off. "No, I have no intentions of becoming Vice-President," he said flatly.
Yaoyarozu nodded and smiled politely. "Then it's decided," she announced before returning to her seat.
A few lessons later, lunchtime finally arrived. Stretching as he stood, Shiro was the first to leave the room. Midoriya quickly ran after him, calling out, "Wait up!"
Slowing down slightly to let Midoriya catch up, Shiro resumed his brisk pace as they walked together. "Uraraka still seems upset. I think the best thing you can do is speak to each other privately. That way, she can tell you how she feels," Midoriya suggested earnestly.
Shiro's head perked up at the idea. 'That is a good idea...' he thought, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
"The hard part is getting you two in a situation where you have to talk. I wonder..." Midoriya said, his voice trailing off as he strategized aloud. That's when a mischievous grin spread across Shiro's face.
"I'll delay getting my lunch. Once Uraraka sits down with you and Iida, I'll conveniently show up, and you two will conveniently need the toilet," Shiro explained, his grin widening.
Midoriya nodded, smiling back. "Yeah, that's a great idea. Anyway, besides the Uraraka stuff, I wanted to ask for your help with something."
"What is it?" Shiro asked.
"I was wondering if on the weekend you'd want to train together. All Might isn't always free, and it'd help a lot if I got some training sessions in with someone who knows my secret. Oh, and we could brainstorm ways to improve my quirk!" Midoriya exclaimed, his enthusiasm bubbling over.
As Midoriya continued to ramble, Shiro interrupted him. "And what would I gain from it?" he asked, his voice calm but pointed.
Midoriya's face flushed with embarrassment. Scratching the back of his head, he chuckled nervously. "I didn't think it through completely, but we could do some spars, I guess..." he offered weakly.
Shiro shook his head, clearly unimpressed. "Respectfully, Midoriya, I'm far superior to you in hand-to-hand combat. Sparring with you would only lead to your growth," Shiro explained matter-of-factly.
Midoriya's shoulders slumped. "I guess you're right... I haven't trained much in hand-to-hand combat, so you'd probably crush me," he admitted with a sigh.
Reaching the cafeteria, the two grabbed their trays and took their usual seats. Midoriya sat opposite Shiro, his earlier energy subdued.
"If you come up with something that benefits me, let me know," Shiro said, though his attention was quickly stolen by a new notification hovering in front of him.
[Quest: Brutally beat Midoriya to a pulp. Reward: 5000XP]
Shiro frowned, his thoughts turning dark. 'At this rate, to gain XP I might have to do vigilante work. This system feels... off. I need to figure out how to use this thing again.'
Midoriya, noticing Shiro's distraction, tugged on his sleeve and pointed behind him. Turning, Shiro spotted Uraraka entering the cafeteria, her eyes scanning the room as she approached the serving line.
'Shit, I forgot about her...' Shiro thought, quickly standing and moving to a random table to avoid being seen.
As Uraraka collected her tray, her eyes lingered on Midoriya, who was waving her over. Despite the invitation, she hesitated, scanning the room as though searching for someone else. Shiro ducked lower, hiding behind the heads of nearby students. After a moment of indecision, Uraraka finally sat across from Midoriya.
'She's really trying to avoid me...' Shiro thought bitterly, sinking deeper into his chair.
"It's not very kind to sit at an occupied table without introducing yourself," a confident voice said, breaking through his thoughts. Startled, Shiro turned to see a long-haired ginger girl with a ponytail and piercing blue eyes looking directly at him.
'Kendo...?' Shiro thought, his eyes narrowing as he realized he'd inadvertently sat at a table full of girls from Class 1-B.
'You can't be serious right now... What's up with today?' he thought, groaning internally.
