3 Reasons To Survive In The Apocalypse With A System

Leo, a gamer and streamer, woke up one day to find the world around him had collapsed. And the one to even make him realize this was a six-inch tall girl? "Your first mission is to find three reasons to survive in this apocalypse." This was what he was told once he came to terms with the world coming to an end. Now, in order to survive in this new world, he had to make use of this system and try to complete the missions he was given while also trying to level up by killing zombies. Can a normal guy like Leo live long enough to even complete his first mission? Can Leo fight against the odds and build a safe haven for himself? It Was Supposed To Be Just Another Day Part 2

Leo watched the news, which showed graphic pictures of people being attacked. He was still trying to come to terms with all of this. He began flipping through each of the channels only to find that some were showing a bloody scene while others were repeating the same thing as the other stations.

"See. I told you!" The small girl snorted as she gave Leo a smug smile.

She watched as Leo raised his hand, balled it into a fist, and then….

*Bam!*

"Ouch! Fuck!" Leo cried out as he rubbed his cheek. He almost knocked out his tooth! "It's not a dream!"

"I keep telling it is not! Why won't you listen!?" The small girl cried out. She had been telling nothing but truths this entire time!

"Well, think about it!" Leo looked at the small girl. "In my world, a being like you should not exist, never mind some zombie apocalypse. You suddenly showing up out of nowhere would make anyone think they took some bad drugs! All I know is that you suddenly appearing here and telling me the world has ended was basically asking me to check the mushrooms I added to my cup ramen last night!"

"I see…." The small girl thought for a moment and nodded. She felt that this did make sense. "I understand, but at least you now know. As such, as your system, I now must give you a mission!"

"A mission?" Leo really just wanted to know if he had enough food to last a few more days! Luckily, he had a habit of doing food shopping for a month, but it was already close to the end of the month. But now knowing he was going to be given a mission made him a bit…. Well, depressed.

"The mission is simple. Find three reasons to survive the apocalypse." The small girl replied.

"Three reasons, huh? Well. I do wish to know more about the system, but right now, I need to do two things. First off, what is your name? I can't just be going around calling you naked girl." Leo disliked calling people he spoke to as 'you'.'

"I do not have a name. You can call me however you want." The small girl replied. She did not care what she was called. She was just a system.

"Then…. Nora." This was the name that popped into his mind. It was the name of a character he made for one of the games he liked to stream.

"Then, from now on, I will be known as Nora," Nora replied.

"Then Nora, I need to see how many days I can survive before I starve to death." Leo had to take inventory before anything else.

Leo lived in a building that had two floors. But he was surrounded by people on both sides of him. When he finally had no choice but to leave his house, he hoped he would have fewer of these zombies to deal with. He would need to be careful going in and out.  He had watched enough horror movies online to know that when it came to these types of situations, it was best to try to find as many supplies as possible, but for now, Leo did not dare to go outside when things were just getting started. He hoped in a few days, things would be less hectic, and he would have less of a chance of being attacked.

Deep down, he was still hoping he could wake up in the next few hours and all of this would be a bad dream. Leo walked over to the current and pulled it open. He had a small balcony that had a cement wall dividing it from the other studio apartments on each side of him. It was nothing big, but he could still step out on it.

He stepped outside and took two steps to stand in front of the railing. He looked out over the edge to see smoke billowing up into the sky. The sounds of people screaming could be heard not too far away. All the noises he normally drained out were filling his ears. People were running all over the place, being chased by six or seven so called zombies.

"Yeah, it's definitely a dream…."

"Yeah, it's definitely a dream…."

Two voices rang out at the same time. Leo turned and looked over to his left to see a short young woman with brown hair tied up into braids and glasses looking back at him. She only gave him a glance before turning around and walking back into her house.

Leo stood there scratching his neck, unsure if the girl hated him or not. He was normally stuck in front of the computer, so he did not know his neighbors. He had seen her a few times, but she always had her head down and never looked up at him. This was the first time he had actually seen her face, and she was quite cute.

Shaking his head, he decided not to think about it too much as he took another long gaze outside before turning around. He had to figure out a way to protect himself. If people knew he was alive, they would think he had food and water. These kinds of things would be scarce soon. That is, if the power grid does not hold out.

"So?" Nora flew over and sat on his shoulder. "Realized your world is finally over?"

"I hate to say it, but I guess so. You know I was supposed to wake up and do my daily routine. This was all just supposed to be another day…." Leo sighed as he walked over to his bed and sat down once again. He stared at the TV that was still on, showing the videos people were posting online.

"Well, get used to it. From this moment on, you will be trying to survive." Nora's tone was casual, as if whether or not Leo died had anything to do with her.

Leo looked down at Nora and chuckled. "Hah! One thing I hate doing is giving up too easily."
