Chapter 61: "The Hero"

"How the hell am I going to get out of this place, I know the others are giving it their all, and I'm stuck here," said William with a clenched fist, "I need to be with my friends they can't defeat Gavel alone.

William then places his hand which bore the ring he got from his father on the barrier before him, the ring started to glow, "what's this?" asked William, the ring resonating with this, like that time when Sol came to the castle.

"Could my ring open this door for me?" thought William to himself, he then started to focus his intentions on the ring and it started to glow," how do I open it, it's not working," said a frustrated William as the ring stopped glowing.

He then took a deep breath and exhaled, let's try this again," said William, the ring started to glow even more," it's opening, I can feel it, hold on everyone I'm coming, as the battle was raging on between Zeph, Rose, and Gavel.

They were really exhausted but they knew they had to keep going, "give up! There is no winning against me!" shouted Gavel, suddenly to the left of Gavel, a portal appeared which drew their attention.

William then came through, and then the portal closed behind him, "how? Impossible!" shouted Gavel, "William, your back!" shouted Rose, "I was wondering how long you were gonna take," said Zeph.

"William's arrival gave them strength, "I had to find a way back to you guys," said William, "how did you open the portal?" asked Gavel, William then turned his attention towards him, "I don't know but all I could think about was returning to my friends and defeating you," said William.

William then stretched his right hand out, then another portal opened and his sword came flying into his hand, Gavel was astonished, "you are quite an interesting young man, full of surprises," said, Gavel.

"I never stop trying, ill protect this place from you with the help of my friends, I also made a promise to your mother, that I'd save you and bring you back to her," said William.

Gavel started to laugh, "take me back to my mother? you make it sound like I'm a spoiled brat, after I have achieved what I came here for then I will return to my mother and show her how powerful I have become, maybe then she will understand my true purpose here," said Gavel.

"Beatrice doesn't care about power, she just wants her son back," said William, "she should, why are we here then? isn't it to get as powerful as we can? you lack vision boy," said Gavel, there is much more to life than power, now it's time to end this," said William.

"Like what, growing up ordinary, live a dull boring life, and grow old full of regrets and bitterness," said Gavel as he was aiming his staff at them.

William then speed steps towards Gavel with his sword aiming for his face, Gavel then grabs it, "you'll have to do better than that," said Gavel, "ok, Wave Lenght" said William, Gavel was pushed meters away by the impact of the attack.

With a bleeding hand and face, he said, "not bad," Gavel then opened multiple portals each launching a different attack at William, Zeph, and Rose, William used Water Boost to neutralize some so did Rose and Zeph," they have gotten stronger because of him," thought Gavel to himself.

Gavel then opens another portal right in front of William trying to trap him again, Rose appears and teleports him closer to Gavel," that won't work again," said Rose.

William's sword clashes with his staff," where's this strength coming from?" asked Gavel, "my friends, Water Boost," said William, "this again?" said Gavel as he was been propelled into the sky, "Air Arrows: Rage of Tempest," said Zeph.

Who was already above Gavel, he was plunged into the ocean after taking the full impact of the attack," he's coming back," said Rose, Gavel then appeared on top of the ocean tattered and breathless.

"I need more power, the orb in his chest started to resonate, and Gavel's power started to increase, "yes, more! more!" said Gavel, he raised his hand up to open a portal, "ill rain fire from the sky and burn you to ashes," said Gavel, "those hands of yours are quite troublesome," said William.

Gavel opened a portal bigger than that one Dunkler had opened before to pull the small moon through, "Portal Creation Magic: Hell Fire, now burn!" shouted Gavel, a raging fire started to shoot out of the portals, William then said, "guys, after I cancel out this attack, go for his arms."

They all nodded in agreement.

William then tapped into possession, he closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, "things are different now, I can feel it, he thought to himself, as the flames drew closer the water started to rise.

William placed one foot before the other, with both legs slightly bent he raised his sword up, "Plunging Breaker: High Tide" said William, as he was lowering his sword, a massive body of water, was before him heading towards the portals, it extinguished the flaming portal, Gavel evaded the attack.

Rose and Zeph followed suit with the attack on Gavel, "I'm almost at my limits so I have to make this one count," said Zeph as he was tapping into possession, " you again, I'll just break you like before," said Gavel as he snapped his fingers and said 'break', it didn't work.

Zeph surrounded himself with a dense layer of air that took the damage from the attack, "It worked," thought Zeph, Gavel then raised his hand to open a portal but Zeph severed it, Gavel started to raise the other one but here comes Rose swinging her Mace.

It shattered every bone in his hand and sent him flying, Gavel cried out, "you wretched children, how dare you!"

William then speed stepped past Zeph and Rose with his sword pointing behind him, to the ocean," he's much faster than before", said Zeph, as William catches up to Gavel who was spinning out of control.

A stream of water started to follow his sword, the closer it got the more it started to glow, by the time Gavel caught himself William was right in front of him, "this is where it ends for you, The Water That Washes Away All Impurities, Wave Lenght," said William as he brings his sword up, cutting Gavel diagonally and cracking the orb.

"That was incredible," said Aidan who was watching along with Evan, "that's William for you," said Evan, dark energy started to pour out of the orb, "William get away from him!" Shouted Rose.

The dark energy started to surround Gavel creating a ball around him and William, "what is this stuff?" asked William, "William! that magic needs to be contained but we have to get William out of it!" shouted Rose.

Its presence even woke Luna the Queen of The Land Of Magic," the Queen is awake!," shouted one of the fairies who was watching over her," this magic that I'm feeling it's unnatural, it doesn't belong here," said Luna as she was getting up.

"Sister you are finally up, the guy came back again but he was with a light magic user so I had to get William and his friends," said Sol," who? Asked Luna, "the descendant of Nesbeth," said Sol.

"So this is his doing, I have seen a such persistent man before," said Luna, Zeph fires a barrage of Exploding Arrows at the ball, but it had no effect on it," how do I get out of here, I can't leave him here, I promised Beatrice I would save him.

William then held on to Gavel and instantly he found himself on a sub-conscience plane, he heard laughter, from a little boy and a woman overlapping," who's there, where am I?" asked William as he was looking around, suddenly he felt someone holding his hand.

"Sir can you help me find my mother?" asked the little boy, "William was astonished," he replied yes I can, where was the last place you saw her, the little boy pointed to his left.

"Ok let's go then," said William to the little boy, "what's your name?" asked William, "I am Gavel," said the little boy, "William was astonished," this must be Gavel's sub-conscience," said Willliam, suddenly the place started to get dark and the little boy was no longer beside William.

"What are you doing here?" asked Gavel, "I'm trying to get you out of here, we are trapped in a ball of energy, "are you stupid? I am your enemy, why would you want to save me?" well I made a promise to your mother that I would bring you back to her," Gavel laughed.

"Its useless am too far gone, there's no going back for me, you need to get out of here," said Gavel, "so what should I tell her?" asked William, Gavel paused for a couple of seconds, "tell her I'm sorry, now leave," said Gavel, William was then pushed out of the ball of energy.

"William is out! William get away from it, help me to contain this, I have to try and seal it," said Rose, "Air Sphere," said Zeph, A ball of dense air formed around it but it was soon destroyed as the ball expanded in size, William then tried to contain it in a ball of water, it held but not for long it too was destroyed, Rose then said, "I don't really know this sealing spell so well," she tried it and it failed.

"You just need a little more training, " who is that?" asked William, "I didn't even feel her presence," Said Zeph, Luna now stands between them and the ball of dark energy, she then waved a hand sign and said, "Ratio obsignator: claudere ostium apertum"(translate: dimension sealer: close the open door).

The dark ball started to shrink back to the size of the original orb, "that man is barely alive on the inside but I can't separate him from the darkness, he is trapped in the orb now forever," said Luna," William felt sad, "Sorry Beatrice," thought William, " You are quite powerful, can you teach me that spell?" asked Rose," thank you, and yes I can," said Luna with a smile.

As they made their way to the shores of the island, Rose's mother ran to her and hugged her, "I was so worried I'm happy that you are safe, is this how you've been living?" asked Kalina, "not really, now you can stop running," said Rose.

"Evan! When did this happen to you?" asked William," while you were gone, you think I'm in bad shape you should see the other guy," said Evan with a smile on his face," he saved me and my father, even after I was treating him badly, thought Aidan to himself, "he aspires to be as strong as you William," said Aidan, "Aidan I'm glad that your father was saved.

I wanted to save Gavel but it seems like it was too late for him, he was consumed by his own lust for power, losing sight of what's really important in life, selfishness got the best of him, and his ambition drove him to his demise," said William.

"We have a lot to discuss, Prince William but you guys need to rest, you are welcome to stay in the Land of Magic, you did protect it with your lives," said Luna as she walked towards the shield of light.
