"Kenchi. We'll be leaving now"
A grown man and a women is standing at the door with a huge amount of luggage with them as the man calls out to his son who is still in bed.
Kenchi gets out of his bed and drags himself towards the door where his parents are waiting for him.
"Why you don't sleep well??"
Kenchi's mother shows concern for him as his eyes are covered with dark circles and face clearly showing that he feels extremely weak and tired.
"Well son, we will be on our way to Yokohama. Don't forget that you have a train ticket on August second to Yokohama as well, the school and all has been arranged."
"Father.... can't I.... stay here???"
Asks Kenchi. His voice clearly indicates that he has little to no hope on getting a positive reply.
"Kenchi. We talked about this"
His mother bends down a little bit, caressing his face with her hands.
"You have sixteen days here. Enough time to bid your friends goodbye and finish the unfinish things"
"The cab is here"
Kenchi's father gently taps on her shoulder to make her know about the cab's arrival.
"Well, you are alone here for sixteen days. Eat properly and sleep on time and yes, don't skip school, you will regret it in the future."
The mother kisses Kenchi on his forehead before leaving. Kenchi, halfheartedly waves them goodbye before slamming the door shut and jumping back on his bed.
"I don't want to leave this place"
Kenchi mumbles to himself as his eyes get moist.
**********
Kenchi seems to be lost in thoughts as he is sitting on his desk at night, aggressively tapping his pen on a diary opened in front of him which is only filled by the dots of ink which is caused by the tapping of the pen. Suddenly the tip of the pen breaks which produces an unpleasant sound, bringing him back to reality.
"What's the point in writing a to-do list?"
Kenchi asks himself to fill the silence which surrounds the room.
"Only thing I have in mind is to confess to the girl I have liked since my childhood"
Suddenly his eyes gets teary.
"I....I want to stay"
Finally tears starts rolling down his eyes as he covers his face with his elbow to muffle the sound. After a few minutes, he suddenly stops crying. He stands up in an instant and switches off the lights and goes to bed with a straight face, trying hard to calm down his emotions.
*****
"What is this place??"
Kenchi finds himself alone in a completely white cubicle room with a single wooden chair in front of him. He walks around a bit to admire the room's perfect white color.
"You sure know how to ignore someone"
A voice comes from the chair's direction as Kenchi, in an instant, turns around to see whos voice it is, though, finds no one sitting in the chair.
"Is the person in this room Kenchi Furukawa?"
"Yes its me. Wait, where are you even speaking from?"
"I am sitting right here, in this wooden chair"
"I see no one"
"Well, your image of a god will be how I, will be presented here but if you don't see me then its safe to say that you don't believe in god"
"Wait what!??"
Kenchi's voice cracks as his face completely shows excitement and disbelief.
"Why a god is here? Don't tell me that I am dead!!"
"You are not dead. I am just here to make a deal"
"Deal?"
Kenchi's curiosity peaks
"You are leaving your hometown, yes"
"I am"
"You don't want to though"
"You are here to grant my wish of staying!!!"
Kenchi eyes lit up for few seconds with the hope of his wish coming true.
"No, I don't grant wishes. Thatswhy I am here to make a deal. If you are able to make the girl you like, fall for you in love then your wish of staying here will be granted. And yes, it has to be before August second or in simple words, before you leave for Yokohama."
"I have sixteen days to make the girl I like fall for me!!!!"
Kenchi panics.
"Actually you have fifteen days cause its already past midnight"
Panic intensifies.
"I will be leaving now"
"Wait!! I have some questions to ask"
Kenchi lunges forward to grasp something he can't see.
He opens his eyes to see that he is in bed, sweating as the morning sun rays comes in from the windows.
"It was all a dream. As if I will get this kind of opportunity"
He gets up and does his morning chores before he gets ready and leaves for school.
*******
Another mediocre day hits for him at school as he sits at the corner desk facing the window, looking outside into the tree's rustling leaves. after a few minutes, the bell rings to announce the start of classes though it doesn't even slightly bothers Kenchi who's mind is still outside.
"A new student will be joining us today"
The class teacher makes an announcement as soon as she comes into the class. She is followed by a tall boy with red hairs and blue eyes.
"I am Godo Izanami, nice to meet you all"
The new student introduces himself. Kenchi however, doesn't pay attention.
"Godo Izanami, please take your new seat"
Requests the teacher to the new student. The new student directly walks towards the corner where Kenchi is sitting and eventually takes the seat which is next to him. The teacher finally starts teaching, Kenchi also now pays attention to the class as he stops looking outside and focuses on the board. After a few seconds he gently feels a tap from his right side from the new student.
"Don't forget. You only have fifteen days"
