Nicholas' POV

"A marriage proposal? I thought she already said yes?" Theo asked with a creased forehead.

I rested my back against the couch and grinned. "Yes, but I want a formal proposal. I wanna surprise her."

He nodded and laughed. "Oh, man! My dear friend has really fallen, huh?"

I just smirked at his remark. "I'm gonna buy her ring today. Can you recommend a shop? You're a womanizer, you should know a good shop for jewelry."

He frowned. "Says the playboy. Among the two of us, you're the one who's expert with women, dude."

We're in that conversation when Balthazar barged inside the private room in my bar. He was panting hard and he looked so worried. "Sir!"

My forehead creased. "What?"

"Young master, Mr. Sanford was attacked."

"What?!" I rose from my seat and gritted my teeth. I balled my fists. "What happened?"

"He was attacked, young master. Atticus called me. Mr. Sanford is in the hospital. He's critical."
