Perseus POV
Did I make a cool entrance yet? Did my hair flick and cool reflex caught anyone's attention? I did a quick scan but it seems people are just wide eye in surprise.
Come on, where is the one girl who's going to do a high pitch scream or something? It seems like I need to learn how to differ between reality and fiction more, but that catch was sick.
"It seems like the tower didn't choose someone useless after all." Craig grumbled "I'll be taking care of you guys for the rest of today and it seems like everyone in this class has introduced themselves to each other, so I'll let them go after you, why don't you start introducing yourself to me, squirt."
"Hey, I'm Squirt."
"Be serious or I'll deck you, genius or not, you can't withstand hits of a veteran." he warned "Not the time to make a dad joke."
"Well I don't mind if everyone just calls me 'daddy'." I shrugged and it surely pissed him off cuz everyone laughed.
"Serious kid, I'll give you one more warning."
"Well I got no choice, I'm Perseus Silver, 18 years old, and the protagonist of this novel."
"Alright everyone else, whether you want to do it or not, share things about yourselves, like preferred way of defeating a monster and don't be rude like him cuz I'll deduct it from your conduct." he instructed the background character.
I then turned to see the girl next to me still staring at me.
"Hey pumpkin, what's up?"
"Don't call me that." she retorted
"It seems you know who I am, Lia. Your dad tried his best to keep you away from me, I don't know why though, nice to meet ya, Perseus Silver."
She then shook my hand reluctantly.
"Lia is fine. It seems like everyone's impression of you changed." she whispered
"Oh, did I get a nickname like the sleeping prince yet?"
"No, they thought you were just a lazy bum, but it seems like your talents are the real deal, even that ghoul lady over there is glaring at you, she's apparently predicted to be the top of this class."
"Aren't you talented too? Don't care about predictions, they're just bogus things made to inflate your ego."
"You're weird."
"Haven't you heard from your dad, I'm a world class weirdo, the moment you shook my hand and decided to befriend me is the time you're agreeing to losing some braincells."
She then held a giggle which then stopped as I stopped books that was thrown at both of us.
"No flirting in class!" he yelled
"Hey man, I know you're strict, but loosen up a little, I was just getting to know someone, besides...even if raiders are stronger than people who aren't chosen, a book to the head hurts you know, it's not very efficient to transfer knowledge that way, though effective if you're trying to lose some."
Oh man, I swear that I can see smoke coming out of his nose and ear, he's like a bull. He then took a couple of deep breaths to calm down.
"Before I give you free time the rest of the day to get to know each other more, it's a requirement to listen to the basics of the tower even if you know them already." he lectured "First are the list of the hundred."
He then open this status window and scroll it up and down. There are a hundred names on that list of both the nickname and their real name, their race, the floor they reached and a section on the far right, 'individual threat level'.
Just because you're on the top 100, it doesn't necessarily mean you're weaker if a person below your rank have a higher threat level, since some can be a guild leader possess high authority and the tower can determine that as power, but not individual power.
"You all right now are raiders." Craig said "But these are the named, and the top 13 are called the ranked or rankers. If you're a saint, you will have the title saint before your real name on the list and in very rare cases, there are raiders with only their nickname revealed but not their real name since the tower choose to not disclose them."
"Why is that so?" I asked
"Well there are many things, but the tower usually show your name even if you don't want to if you're a named." he replied "but most of the time is because they're doing individual trials set by the tower that requires privacy, so the tower would take away their picture and name away, so if you click on their name, you can't see their faces, that's why there's several of em."
He then turned to see if anyone have anyone questions.
"Anyway, starting from the 11th floor or some just call it the official first floor." he continued "To pass on from one floor to another and get access of teleportation to a floor at the way point one must complete dungeons, there are many dungeons on a floor and trials vary.
"Some dungeon requires you to do it solo, some in teams of 5 or some in 2, but just because you complete a dungeon, it doesn't mean you can advance to another floor, only a few of them give access to another floor as a reward, SS class dungeons are guaranteed. And trials can be either or fighting or just even cooking, we can never know what to expect.
"And every time the tower resets, the difficulty of the whole tower change since the tower will base the difficulty on the average strength of all 13 worlds and major races of the time it resets, so if we're the weakest generation, the tower will adjust to it if the tower resets, and when that happen, people will have to reclimb the tower, so you could make till the 30th floor but resets will have you do the 11th floor again."
"And has anyone made it to the official 100th floor or the 110th floor or at least have some clues for what you get as a reward?" Lia asked
"Nope, the highest someone made it in history is till the official 91st floor, 3 people made it at that time." Craig answered
