Distanced

Hiroshi's eyes narrowed at the thought of what Haruki meant he had thought Haruki was displeased with his presence which was why he felt a stronger need to leave but with his statement, he froze unable to decide whether to insist on remaining in the awkward moment, or escape.

The thought of that lover of his remaining overnight made him choose to stay perhaps if he was around, they wouldn't do anything. Well, that was a hope he was holding onto.

"Is there anything you want me to do?" he had to give Haruki another reason why he stayed.

Haruki approached him unhurriedly, holding the collar of his shirt, he pressed him against the wall and his lips covered Hiroshi's in a deep kiss. The kiss lasted only a few seconds not giving the doctor the chance to snap out of the shock that movement gave him.

Haruki took a quick step back when Hiroshi reached for him to kiss him again. "Not too soon we are missing someone," Haruki reminded him and gestured at the little lover who happened to be watching them.

The realization hit Hiroshi so hard that he felt his blood drain downwards as he paled. His hands that reached for Haruki dropped and he shook his head.

"I . . ." Hiroshi began but stopped as he could understand that Haruki simply counted this as something physical and having fun with someone else was nothing to him but it was everything to Hiroshi, especially a degradation of his feelings and affection towards an unaware Haruki.

"You don't want to?" Haruki asked noticing his hesitation. It was something even beyond that.

"I don't want to," Hiroshi found himself responding bluntly. "I won't touch him," Hiroshi replied. The thought of being intimate with someone he had no affection for made him feel sick, especially with the person he loved.

"It is not bad, is it?" Haruki looked confused over his reluctance but although it was easy to miss especially in such a situation there was a small amused smile lifting the corners of his lips that reached his eyes causing them to look warmly at the man who shook his head furiously.

"I don't . . ." Hiroshi started but stopped again. "I just got a message that I am needed at the hospital, I want to leave so I can't stay."

The smile on Haruki's face completely disappeared and the youngest in the house froze as he felt the temperature drop significantly.

"Okay," Haruki agreed. When the doctor left that night, Haruki sent his little lover away feeling very moody.

When he woke up the next morning, he felt even more moody since he had not found an outlet for his disappointment and annoyance after sending his lover away.

This was the first time he had avoided venting, the thought of even being with the lover reminded him of the paleness of the doctor's face even after he confirmed that the man left for work.

He had only suggested that to test the doctor but he found himself being careful to avoid getting judged by the man. By nighttime, he told his assistant to end the relationship he had with the actor.

One more gone and when the assistant asked him what type he wanted next, he had taken a few seconds to think about it although he wanted no one he found himself listing all the features of the doctor.

The doctor lacked almost all the features of the men he pursues but he found himself interested in him. There was no denying that he wanted him because the doctor was very handsome and like a precious art piece, he wanted him in his possession but that alone was not enough to persuade him that it was okay to like a man that looked like that.

He worked so hard that he barely had any time to think of anything aside from his work. He kept himself healthy eating and sleeping at the right time and the only things that suffered were his sex life and his social life.

He went for a checkup once and he made it clear to his assistant that he wanted to be attended to by Hiroshi's father rather than Hiroshi from what he heard, Hiroshi was given a leave that day due to his specific request although it was obvious that Dr. Yamamoto was nervous about that.

He got along with his aunt who was still actively trying to set him up with someone. Most of the women she suggested might not accept a lot of things he does causing him to reject them and she continued her search for the right spouse for him.

His grand uncles were well-behaved as they seemed to take his warning seriously. They were one of the reasons why he had to be even more careful when choosing a spouse. It was expected of him to get married to someone from a very good family whose life his granduncles wouldn't dare harm.

Someone powerless would become a liability he was sure those men eyeing his position would be willing to hurt anyone to have him disappear from the seat. He could not give them that position as there was no way he would let them destroy what his grandfather tried so hard to protect.

After taking care of the company for some years, he knew more than anyone how valuable the company was and how a mistake like choosing the wrong leader could cause great loss.

It was not a responsibility he would have imagined himself having years ago but it was one he had come to accept and love. It was a responsibility that saved his life and brought him great power. Very tricky with the goals he has to reach but awesome enough to keep him energized so a good wife to support this, was important.

Haruki received a phone months later and when he glanced at the caller, he froze and his heart raced due to the clear caller's ID. He leaned against the backrest as he picked up the call with great reluctance.

"Hello," the voice that came from the other end was different from what he was familiar with.

That deep voice that he found to be annoyingly pleasant was not what he heard causing him to frown as he imagined the worse scenario. "Who is this?" he asked coldly as he made up his mind that moment to hang up without care if it happened to be what he imagined.
