Chapter 2 Resurrection

I get a flash of memories.

I felt pointless. Day, after day after day. It was just the same thing. I would kill a human and they would go to either heaven or hell. There was no fun here. Sometimes others who visited the human world, would bring back sodas and apples. I always asked them for a cola and an apple, and they would give me a few. Everyone else just decided to do other things with their lives. They felt pointless as well. But they did enjoy killing.

I decided to start observing people. I have seen many people before now, but I never explored them thoroughly. I saw one person, named Miri. She was a young girl, whom the goddess of water had just flooded her empire. She when I think about how young she was, I surprised she wasn't cold to everyone. Actually people she talked to, she was nice. But she was silent to most others. She couldn't have been 2 years younger then me. It was clear that she was quiet person. Much like most students I've killed. They along with her were very closed off people.

I observed her for 2 months. She one time had to hunt a deer in the woods. It was night and all the adults were injured and tired. Another time saved 2 kids who were going to fall into a river. And then she finely made it into another kingdom. It was rare for a kingdom to accept outsiders in, especially ones whose own kingdom was just destroyed by natural forces not to long ago.

The time came when someone decided they wanted to kill Miri. I didn't want to see her die. I had been observing her for 2 whole months. I decided to attack the other Shinigami. In terms of Strength me and him would've been both aware I would lose easily. But I still had my trump card.

I tapped the shoulder of the Shinigami before they used their abilities on the human. They turned around slowly with a clearly annoyed look, and said, "HUH!?". One look and I could tell he was an absolute obnoxious idiot. I didn't care to analyze for more. He would be dead soon.

I demanded of him, "Don't kill Miri". If he was annoyed before at me distracting him for one second, He was definitely furious at me now. He replied "Who do you think you are! You think I will just listen to you for no reason, are you stupid?". I replied "yes". The other Shinigami started laughing his head off. I guess I should clear things up for him. "You see I was not replying to your last question. I was replying to your second one". The Shinigami had to remember the entire conversation we just had. I'm guessing he says that first bit a lot for any, poor soul who has listen to him. The Shinigami starts crying harder. "That's even funnier!" He says.

We lock eyes with each other. He realizes I would be no match for him in a fight. He quickly rushes me. "Die" I say.

The Shinigami quickly came to a halt. He said, "Of course". He activated his ability to make his hand into lighting. He quickly used right hand to jab at his throat. He managed to completely destroy it, leaving a little blood spilling out. His hand was still lighting before he destroyed his hand so most of the blood was destroyed.

I grabbed wipes that the Shinigami realm had. We always used this if we wanted to cover up some body. I wiped the ground clearing off the blood. There were some stains on the ground. I went back to my house grabbed cola and hurried back. No one came here yet thankfully. I poured the cola on the ground and it washed out the stains. Then i wiped that off too. I decided to burry the body rigt underneath a church in the Shinigami realm.

Shinigami's were expert killers, so they would know you wanted to hide a body in a far isolated place. While I buried the body. I heard the sound a wood stick breaking. I decided to hurry up. If I went outside to go see what that was people would question what I was doing in the church. I got in through the priests secret quick passage, so my best option would be to hurry up.

I finished burying the body, then quickly left. I came home and it was still 12:45 pm. Before I got home I decided to pick apples from a tree. "I'm home" I shouted. My little sister came flying down and said, "Welcome home". She was half Shinigami and half human. So for her, flying was still an amazing thing.

I petted her before giving her an apple. She thanked me then went back to her room. I made sure to lock my doors, I do it all the time but now I must stay on high alert. I was always super "paranoid" so I always made sure to lock all my doors, so it wouldn't look like me doing that now was anything unusual.

I couldn't stop thinking about that stick breaking while I was in the church. At the time I buried it, it was about 10:30 pm. Some people would be walking around. Of course. I couldn't ignore it. But at the same time I couldn't investigate it without arousing suspicion. And the person who did step on that stick most definitely could've saw me. So me investigating it would cause suspicion to them as well.

I was stuck. I fell asleep while thinking about it.

The next day, I was called from my dad to meet him. This isn't good. The person who broke the stick must've saw me. Now my dad is going to kill me...

My dad was a very unfaithful man. He had 4 wives and left me and Hikari by ourselves for so long. He also had other kids with his wives, and left them too. When I was about 9 I heard that all of his wives suddenly died. He was a high ranked Shinigami. Second to only the Shinigami Mozart and the Shinigami King. He dressed luxuriously and everyone knew he only desired to be the King.

I went to the meeting spot where my dad told me to met him at. The spot he chose was too close to the church, he definitely found the body. I felt the emptiness of everywhere I looked. My heart was pounding, I heard the noise of the crowd when they all got into one place. My dad was clearly frustrated by this, the expression he made clearly told everyone to quiet down. This was clearly going to be where I died. I quickly sent a message to Hikari to run away as far away as she can. She was obviously confused and scared.

I told her this is not a game and she needs to go as far away from here as she could. She finally listened to me. I went up to the crowd standing at the very back of them. Maybe at least while they kill me Hikari could get away.

My father approached me and said, "We know you killed ___". As of then the entire thing flashed before my eyes. The crowd was deeply annoyed by me. "You are now sentenced to be banished to the human world forever. For the death of a fellow Shinigami, protecting a human, and entering the church without permission". Wha-What!? I'm being banished!?

My father put his hand on my left eye. "I here by bestow a seal you will never use your power again". A eyepatch with a diamond dangling from the tip of the bottom eye part appeared on my face. A r portal opened behind me.

The portal covered a large space of the ground. My father then pushed me off the edge. Suddenly I was given a barrage of memories that match accordingly to my personality, preferences, and intelligence. And born into a place where they don't give out your information and instead make fake ones for you. It was called the Mirror house. Maybe it was because my memories have rapidly come back, but I couldn't see much there that I remember. It felt like staring into an abyss. There were a bunch of books lying around. I read them from time to time. One day while I was reading, someone came in. I don't know how, I didn't see how they entered. I couldn't see their name above their head.

That was the last memory I absorbed. I awoke in a dark space. "So, you're awake". A soothing voice greeted me from behind. I was sitting on a luxurious chair. When I looked up, I saw a throne. I didn't want to turn around. In situations like this there are a list of questions you are expected to ask. It seemed like she knew this, and immediately told me to save my breath. She had white hair, with long twin tails that went over her back. One was held together by a blue ribbon, with white spots. The other a magenta ribbon. Her bangs weren't that long, but they still made a shadow over her eyes, so I was unable to see her name. "My name is Kirsten." She walked around me to sit on the throne. "This, is your mindscape". I started staring up. An anxious feeling crept over me. A rain drop, hit the floor. I didn't notice this, but my shoe's were slightly wet. A ring made of the water started forming in between both of my feet. Suddenly 2 more rings started forming. Then 4, then 6, then 8. More and more just kept forming. I realized I couldn't see Kirsten's name. "So what are you doing here?". I could tell by the expression on her face she wasn't used to hearing that question. Or at the very least thought it was unordinary. "You see I'm here, because I sense a great resolve from you". That explained why she would be here, but now how she's here. "But how did you get into my mindscape?". She grabbed an apple of a small table by her throne, and took a massive bite out of it. She must've knew I loved apples, and threw me one. I immediately smashed it. "I thought you loved apples". That was very annoying to me. "You know my sister is in trouble right now, and you think I can stay here and chat?". She seemed pleased by this answer. "Ok then, I'll cut to the chase". A golden paper appeared in front of her. It was levitating of the ground, and she didn't even need to hold it. The bottom left end of the paper, was cut in a way where it took the shape of a ribbon. A pen was being floating near the paper. On it read at the top in bold, Jishin. There were 2 bullet points without the bold. "Basically if you want to save your sister, I can reawaken your zōkyō. Of course in a weakened state, I'm not sure on the details exactly, but it will become stronger at certain points". This was amusing. She obviously didn't know when these points were, most likely just conditions. Still though, I don't want to stay here and talk story. "All you need to do is abide by this contract, and I will reawaken your ability". This was all sounding too good to be true. "Although-". There it is. "Everyone who has ever signed this contract, has never had a happy ending". A happy ending huh? As in a ending they were unhappy with. " I started cracking..."An ending I'd be unsatisfied with?". She seemed a little shaken, but kept her cool. "So then, do you accept?". "Very well then. I herby accept this contract".

As soon as I touched hands with my Sister i remembered everything, the whole time in the Shinigami realm. How I helped a human, by killing a Shinigami. I think it would be up for debate whether or not I did the right thing. But that doesn't matter to me right now. My left eye had flashed some red symbols in the shape of a birds wings. On my back 2 big black wings instantly grew out of my back. I quickly flew back after grabbing my sister.

The oni masked men were surprised. I had just awakened my ability and I could already fly. "So then, you tried to kill my sister hm?". "Wha-what?" I hate having to repeat myself, but they clearly were just confused and didn't misunderstand me. "That's right...now your going to pay" I said in a calm voice. I must've looked really cool while saying that. The oni masked men tried rushing me, it was all too familiar. I could still see their names above their heads. I spoke calmly..."Be my slave".

All of them immediately halted. They spoke to me, "Yes your majesty!".

Hikari asked me,"What will we do now?". A five second pause. "I'm going to make an army, then I'm going to rule over this kingdom".
