Meeting Jayson Again

Outside the academy's gates, Xavier appeared as he went out and took out his phone to make a call. "Butler Jerry, you can pick me up now."

He clicked the end call button before he went into deep thought as he waited for the car.

The first day of school was done for today and all of the clubs had already wrapped up. Gossips about the Grandview Basketball Team visiting could be heard all throughout the day and the news of Terrence's shameful action also spread.

Though, it was understandable for a fourteen year old kid to feel that kind of way in the face of absolute strength. This was the reason that Terrence could make fun of this event in the future during his interviews in the NBA.

However, this was a big deal to the child now as his reputation plummeted only because of one game with the strongest team.

When an interviewer asked Terrence why he quit during his last year in middle school, the reason he said was not really about what happened with the Grandview Basketball Team but it had more to do with the shame of playing after the news leaked out.

This would be harder than I expected, Xavier thought.

The blue luxury car parked in front of Xavier before he pulled the door open and went in.

Xavier kept on thinking of ways to make Terrence return to the team. However, he needed to know more about the kid's situation before he continued planning.

Suddenly, he heard a familiar sound of a notification.

Ding.

[There is a skill in the shop called <Talent Scout> that lets you see a person's talents, skills, and their current life background. The skill only costs $500,000,000.]

A huge buy button appeared on his mind and he could not find any close button or cancel button. The system really wanted to scam him from all of his money. That was five hundred million dollars!

However, Xavier realized that this would be beneficial for him in the long run. As such, he made sure to buy it.

[Purchase Completed]

Skill: <Talent Scout>

Details:

The host will be able to see vital information about any person. The information is limited to their talent, constitution, skills, and current life background or events.

After reading the details, Xavier nodded his head in approval. From his understanding of the skill, he could not see their attributes but he could see the talent and skills they possessed. This would be a beneficial skill for a coach or an NBA scout. However, he wanted to play and use it for Terrence.

This was the first whole-hearted purchase that Xavier made with the System. His desire to get to the finals was really intense as the fight with one of the monsters of Grandview made his blood pump.

Now that he gained this skill, he had to make sure that he will meet with Terrence tomorrow. Otherwise, it would be a waste to not know his situation after buying the expensive skill.

Xavier dozed off because of the tiredness he got from playing the whole day.

"Young master, we are here." Xavier opened his eyes slowly as he saw that they were already in the mansion.

He could not believe that his stamina was almost drained because of the two matches he did earlier. He got out of the car and thanked the butler for safely sending him home.

"Brother!" His little sister made cute steps as she ran toward him. She gave her brother a hug as she pouted. "You are so late!"

"Our school time is now different, Amanda." Xavier caressed his little sister's hair that looked so cute while hugging his waist. "How was your school?"

"We introduced ourselves and there was a rude and noisy kid... and the teacher was mad at him... and..." Amanda told him every random event that she could remember.

Xavier could not help but smile as he found the multiple usage of 'and' by his little sister to be cute. Was this the Ice Queen that all of his employees were afraid of? He chuckled. "That's great! We have to study hard so we can help mom and dad, okay?"

"Yes, brother! Hehehe." Amanda was all smiles while she felt good with her brother caressing her hair.

Xavier played with Amanda for a bit as they had a cute little conversation about her classmates when suddenly his little sister asked him a question. "What about chu brother?"

The 'chu' sound made him giggle as he responded. "Your brother played basketball through a tryout and got accepted to the team. Brother is great, right?"

She nodded her head as she played with her doll because she struggled to understand the concept of tryout. She was like this in the future, too, Xavier thought. She would pretend she understood a concept and just stay quiet about it.

This didn't mean she was pretentious. She was studious and always wanted to know the meaning for herself. Hence, Amanda never relied on other people other than their parents.

Unless it was really important, she would not even ask his brother.

Another day passed.

The start of classes for Lincoln Star Academy was today. Hence, it should be Xavier's first time to meet his classmates. However, he could all remember the names of these people as such he didn't need to make an effort to remember them.

They began to introduce themselves as the first period was for homeroom.

After a few moments, it was now Xavier's time to introduce himself. The homeroom teacher asked the class to tell their name, address, and hobby or club.

When Xavier stood up from his seat, a few kids murmured to themselves how cool Xavier looked while others said he was really handsome. He could only dismiss them as this was normal for middle school and high school.

"Hello, my name is Xavier Zero."

The teacher and his classmates were shocked to know his name. Zero was an unusual surname and it was already attributed to one of the richest families in the United States of America. Though, they only possessed a net worth of around twenty billion dollars.

"My house is located in Forbes Park."

Their suspicions solidified when they heard where Xavier lived. It was only close to this place so they all know how expensive the land in that area is and how much money and influence one needed to possess to be there.

"I recently joined the Basketball Team. Please treat me well."

His charisma to the girls had increased by a lot after the information he told them. However, this was a necessary part of the introduction. It would not be normal to omit information as the teacher would only become more curious.

However, Xavier felt that he created a barrier and some distance to the people here. Most of them were under a scholarship or they were under the program of the government. As such, even though a few rich kids were here, there weren't a lot. What more a child of an elite family in the entire United States?

He tried to think of a method to close this gap and for them to be close to him but not to close so that they will stick to him like a parasite. He didn't want to repeat what happened in the past. He had not realized he created an invisible barrier with him and this caused him to be teased behind his back.

While he was thinking, there was a funny kid with bowl cut hair that suddenly shouted and pointed his finger at him. "You must treat us all to lunch, rich boy!"

All of his classmates were silenced as they waited for Xavier's response.

How could Xavier forget this funny guy? Wasn't this Jayson? He was his only closest friend and the most honest person he met in this school. He came from a working-class family but his street knowledge actually helped him get through middle school and high school.

In the past timeline, he ignored this remark of Jayson but this time, he thought this was a good way to convince people that they didn't need to feel intimidated with him.

Xavier could remember Jayson's words in the past for him. Though it was a sad truth but it was a useful one for someone like him.

'The easiest way to convince people is through money.'
