Walking through the streets of the city, Mordred was taking in the breath-taking scenery of the capital while chatting with Reinhard; at the same time, he was becoming more and more casual and friendly with the Sword Saint.
At this moment the two of them were heading to the place where Mordred would get his immigrant documents.
Mordred didn't really care about becoming registered at this moment and he didn't even want to stay at Reinhard's place right now (obviously he would go to Roswaal's manor to stay on top of the plot), but it was still an amazing chance to get to know the Sword Saint and have Reinhard show him around Lugnica. Mordred also hoped to have a chance to test his abilities and strength on some kind of training field thanks to Reinhard.
"So, Mordred, you are of Nobility, right?" Reinhard asked at one point.
"You could say that. Well, I am, actually. You could even say I'm royalty," Mordred casually said, grinning. "I'm the son of a king, so it kind of makes me royalty, right?"
Mordred chuckled.
Reinhard halted his footsteps and looked intensely at Mordred's smiling face with suspicion. He knew that what Mordred just said was the truth or at least what he believed to be the truth, but Reinhard did not sense any royal blood within Mordred when he checked earlier, feeling disappointed.
Reinhard continued looking at Mordred for a long while, checking again.
"What's wrong?" Mordred asked, looking puzzled.
But Reinhard didn't answer and instead continued staring at Mordred, finally making a conclusion, 'I suppose he's royalty where he's from, but he isn't a candidate for the Royal selection. What a shame, I truly believed that he was the one.'
Reinhard coughed, his face turning normal as he said, "Anyway. Since you're the son of a king, then I shouldn't address you without honorifics anymore, Mordred-sama."
"Mordred-sama?" Mordred parroted and then chuckled, waving his hand. "Forget it. I don't care about this kind of stuff."
Making the most powerful person in this universe calling him -sama because of an arbitrary reason? Mordred might be arrogant now, but he was not that arrogant.
Reinhard's face flashed with surprise, before it turned solemn. "Even if you do not care about it, then I do. I would break my code as a knight if I didn't show you sufficient respect. Especially since you're an esteemed guest in our kingdom of Lugnica."
Mordred was a little taken aback for a while. He thought of something and said, "Then at least don't worry about it when it's just the two of us."
"Hmm. I see. That I can accept," Reinhard nodded with a smile. "Then can I hear your full name, Mordred?"
Mordred smiled and pridefully announced, "My full name is Mordred Pendragon! I'm the only son and heir of Arthur Pendragon - the King of Britain and the King of Knights."
For some reason, Mordred couldn't help but boast about his beautiful father when introducing himself.
"Brittain?" asked Reinhard. "I've never heard of a nation called Britain."
"It isn't on this continent I guess," Mordred said, shrugging his shoulders while checking Reinhard's reaction.
Reinhard paused his footsteps; his pupils dilated as he looked at Mordred in surprise. But he seemed to have quickly recovered as he smiled and said, "I see. So you're from really far away. Anyway, Mordred, you are a knight, right?"
"Yeah!" Mordred said. It was an answer that came from within himself, even if he knew nothing about being knightly or how to swing a sword. He was a damn knight, okay?
Reinhard hummed, seeming to think about something. "Well, let's hurry and get you registered."
…
Subaru sat at the stone stairs in an empty alley. His entire body and clothes were soaked, his jacket spread out at the side for drying; by accident he had fallen into a river a while ago after exploring this place for some time.
His elbows were resting on his knees as he was gazing down onto the floor with an annoyed and downcast expression.
"Damn it, I came here from Earth as one of the heroes, but what's the point if I didn't get any skills? How do I unlock my abilities? Mordred was already strong even before he came here, this isn't fair..." Subaru murmured to himself.
Subaru then glanced at his bag of groceries and started yelling, "And my starting gear is way too shabby too! Mordred at least brought his sword along. Then where is my Excalibur or something?!" Subaru yelled out, before mumbling: "More importantly, where is the cute girl that summoned me? Did she summon me only to leave me here?"
At this moment Subaru heard footsteps.
"Ah, is she finally here?! The cute girl that summoned… me," Subaru's voice was cut when he noticed the identity of the people that approached him.
They were obviously three thugs; two of them seemed to have suffered wounds on their faces, but all of them definitely looked violent and angry.
'Damn, a random event,' Subaru thought.
"What are you babbling about?"
"If you don't wanna get hurt, leave everything that you have on the ground," a blue–haired thug grabbed Subaru's collar with a very pissed expression and lifted him up.
"Out of the way!" a sudden high-pitched girly shout was heard as a thin blonde-haired girl in a skimpy outfit ran into the alley. "Move!"
"Finally!" Subaru yelled, looking at the running girl. "Are you the cute girl that summoned me?!"
Felt gradually slowed down her running speed and paused, looking at Subaru and the thugs with a puzzled expression. "Summoned? I dunno what you're on about, but I have no time."
"Sorry, live strong!" saying so, Felt raised her hand apologetically and then continued to run past them into what seemed to be a dead end, she then proceeded to leap off a leaning board and rapidly ascended up the wall.
Subary helplessly watched as Felt disappeared from sight.
Looking back at the blue-haired thug that was still lifting him up, Subaru raised his hands in surrender, saying, "Hey, that didn't make you decide to be less hostile toward me by any chance, did it?"
"Actually, it rained on our parade and made things worse," the large thug said.
"Yeah, of course." Subaru smiled awkwardly.
…
A while later.
Subaru put up a decent fight and got a few good hits at the thugs, but then suddenly the blue-haired thug pulled out a pair of knives from behind his back with a shout and spun them around, flaring them in front of Subaru, before pointing the blades at him.
Seeing knives directed at him, Subaru dropped to his knees, kowtowing."I'm sorry! It was all my fault! Please, forgive me! Spare me!"
"Shut up!" the blue haired thugged shouted as he sent a strong kick at Subaru's face.
"Aaaaaaaah!" Subaru screamed like a shrew, feeling the terrible pain on his face, his nose probably broken. He has never been hit this hard!
Subaru continued rolling on the ground, holding his face. His eyes suddenly widened as he noticed the thugs approaching him again.
Soon, kicks with full force behind them started landing all over Subaru's body.
"Damn you, bastard! We already suffered a loss today!"
"You think you're a hero, huh?"
"Fuck him up! Fuck him up!"
"Aaarh! MORDREDOO!" Subaru forced himself to desperately yell out amidst the groans of suffering.
"Shut up!" The blue-haired thug then stepped on Subaru's face, shutting him up.
A moment later a firm feminine voice that sounded like a silver-bell was heard. "That's enough!"
Looking over from the floor, with his head still being pressed down by the thug's shoe, Subaru finally saw the cute girl that he was searching for so long.
Subaru stared at a silver-haired girl that appeared with wide open eyes and a stunned expression for a long time.
'She's an angel.'
