I've refuted the memories=identity logic in the chapter quite thoroughly. As for being unemotional, it is said that the external stimuli needed to trigger neurotransmitters like dopamine and oxytocin are higher. That does not mean he cannot experience immense emotional distress from internal stimuli, such as the realization that he is not John and that his Martial Path is not his own. And no, I did not force it. The realization that his path isn't his own is enough for a mental breakdown based on consistently established and reaffirmed facts that he is extremely sensitive to things rekating Project Water. It is also why he attacked a Martial Sage(which is suicidal) when said Martial Sage momentarily negated his Martial Drive. It is entirely consistent and justified.

I'm inclined to agree. But the circunstances you described are different from Rui's circumstances. Rui and John are not only entirely different in biology but also in environment.

Identifying his rebirth the way the Divine Doctor did is evidence of reliability. Science is defined by predictiveness and falisfiability, be correctly inferred the timing of Rui's rebirth by gauging the available evidence, what he did would be considered as powerful evidence by scientific standards.

Drive =/= confidence. Or mental self-certainty. Or confidence in sense of self. Even if Rui's drive was infinite, he would still have the mental breakdown. These are mutually exclusive. He never had proof that the doctor's evaluation couldn't be trusted, just his rationality which is categorically separate from his scientific credibility. DD said it was impossible because the soul transference ritual could not be done without him, but even he clarified that it is possible if someone stole it from them. And I absolutely can say it is all explained by science. If any fantasy reader wishes to stop reading, I fully respect that decision. But all fantasy in TMU is science. Every ounce of it. Make of that information what you will. However, I am the author of this story and I bend to nobody. I am also absolute in my intention to finish this story no matter what, even if it has 0 readers. I see this story to the end and write it however I want.
