His mind was heavy with the narrow escape from the Demon King's trap. His body groaned in protest with the weight of battle, heavy with the dark energies that had befallen him. In obvious attestation, as friends regrouped behind the town wall, this was a place with which they could not continue to reside-the forces of the Demon King would return, larger and more prepared.
"We cannot keep running from him," Alex growled, leaning against a cold stone wall as he stared at the sunset now turning into the last colors that would eventually fade away. The things to come swam in and out of his mind over and over, each one worse than the last.
She stood beside him, crossing her arms. "We need more power. More than what we have now."
Alex nodded. That much was obvious. They needed an ace up their sleeve-something to help turn the tide of battle. That is until the system piped up, instantly recognizable in his mind.
