Chapter 5 Help arrives

As I collapsed to one knee and began breathing heavily the Unmourned Hounds began to encircle me and then two Unmourned began to walk forward when all of a sudden one of them exploded in a violet haze. I looked up to see a girl with a saber then two steam bullets whizzed past my head and I could hear the whimpers of an Unmourned hound. Then the girl with the saber jumped in the air and tossed four kunai laced with trip wires and they landed on either side of the last Unmourned and clasped her hands together then a bright yellow light began to emanate from the trip wires and in place of the trapped Unmourned was a scroll. "Rescue and capture is complete Captain." "Great job, revealing myself to the rescuee." I heard footsteps coming from the forest and out stepped another girl she stepped to me and held out a hand to me.

"Who are you two?" As I grabbed the hand of the girl with the rifle. "I'm Captain Verius and this is my second in command, Commander Yoko. My squad and I were sent to rescue you and your family and bring you back with us. "You rescued my sister and my best friend?" "Of course, that's enough questions for now." Captain Verius handed her steam rifle to Commander Yoko and bent down as if to give me a piggy back ride. "I'm fine I can walk just fine by myself." As soon I tried to step everything went dark.

Captain Verius caught Zarophin and her and Yoko began to walk back into the forest. "That's the first time I've seen you help someone so quickly Captain since that time 10 years ago." "I know, he's interesting and not just in his ether abilities but as a person." "Just don't get too attached too early Captain." "I know Yoko...Contact Headquarters let them know we're on our way back." "Yes Ma'am."

Verius looked at the ground feeling forlorn. (I just hope I'm doing the right thing. Part of me hopes Yoko isn't right at all.) As Verius and Yoko reached the river bank eight Neon Knights stood at attention on either side of them and a middle aged man walked forward he had a stern look and then raised his scepter and the waterfall split open and Verius and Yoko walked into the waterfalls cave as the waterfall closed back up that's when the middle aged man said: "When you're done dropping him off at the infirmary come meet me in my office I have some things to discuss with you." "Yes Sir, High Commander, Sir."

As soon as Verius handed Zarophin over to the attending nurse she began to walk to the office of the High Commander as she neared it that's when she felt a cold chill down her spine as she felt this Ethereal pressure wash over her. "Come on out Beithir-Nimh." "As sharp as ever I see Verius but that's to be expected of the High Commander's daughter." "I see you and your squad return from your mission what is it that you want?" "So hostile. Are you still upset bout how things ended between us." Verius's heart began to race thinking about the times her Beithir had together she began to shake but then steeled herself. "What we had was a great thing. However, what you did to those poor families was unforgivable and I can't forgive you for that." "If I didn't kill them they would've killed you and the rest of our team!" "They weren't showing signs of being corrupted!" "I could feel their ether start to slow Sinta. Their entire being was beginning to shed and create the Unmourned. Speaking of which, did you and Yoko capture one alive for me?"

Sinta turned and looked at Beithir and walked up to him and put a hand on his face. "I know you meant well but I still have nightmares about that night. I just can't get that image of you out of my head the way you looked as you slaughtered them. As if you enjoyed it. It terrified me and hurt me seeing you like that." "I'm sorry Sinta for putting you through that but when I heard you cry out that day I came back to my senses but I understand if you can't find it in your heart to forgive me."

Beithir and Sinta leaned in only to get stopped by someone clearing their throat. "Yoko!" "Stop reminiscing about the past and go see what your dad wants. You know he hates when you're late plus he gets impatient easily." "Right, thanks Yoko." Sinta ran away. "Why'd you do that Yoko?" "Haven't you hurt her enough Beithir. She's still in love with you but until you can show her you can control yourself and if you try to touch her or even give me a reason that you might hurt her again in any way I will kill you and that's a promise." Yoko walked past Beithir and Beithir smirked.
