Chapter 05 - pheromones of an alpha

With great difficulty, Jake also rummaged through his rucksack for his pill bottle and took a pill. Wiping the sweat on his shirt, he took a deep breath, also trying to maintain control and prevent his pheromones from leaking out.

— I took my suppressant, it's fine! But can anyone here take her to the infirmary?

The boys in the classroom even tried to approach the girl, but Jake couldn't ignore the malice that some of them showed on their faces.

She was an omega woman weakened by her sudden heat.

A son of a bitch could take advantage of the situation.

— You two are her friends, aren't you? — Jake asked as he approached, trying his best not to be affected by the omega's pheromones.

— Ah, yes.

— I can carry her, but since I'm an alpha and she's in heat, it would be better if you two went along. And take her things too.

Without giving room for argument, and unlike the shameful betas in the room, Jake found it easy to put the girl on his back and carry her like she was nothing.

— Ah, she's fainted!

— We'll have to hurry then!

It wasn't just out of concern for the girl in heat, but his own situation was in chaos.

Even unconscious, she was emanating pheromones since she was on the back of an alpha. Jake had to work hard to suppress his instincts and not release any odours until they reached the infirmary safely.

It was a difficult task. Every now and then the alpha would lean on the walls panting, with the girls shaking his face to help him. He soon recovered and continued down the ramps to the administrative wing of the building, where they would find the infirmary.

After leaving the girl with her friends there, Jake just needed to get away as quickly as possible.

He had reached his limit.

He had to find a way out. He didn't want to attack anyone, certainly not against his will, but the way the pheromones seemed to be intensifying, it would only be a matter of time before Jake lost control. All he needed was a moment to gather his energy and run.

Even with his vision blurred and all his senses completely messed up, the alpha ran down the corridor without even knowing where he was going. All he needed was fresh air and a quiet place.

Turning through the corridors, there came a moment when his lungs burned and his legs stiffened, so he had to hide behind a pillar. It was there that he rested, feeling his heartbeat accelerate.

Staring at his own hand, Jake felt the heat and sweat build up on his skin. He wanted to go back to the infirmary and dominate that omega right there.

He had been repressing his instinct for years, avoiding sleeping with someone as much as possible in case he lost his mind. It was no wonder that when there was even the slightest atom of pheromone in the air, his instincts got so out of control.

The more it was repressed, the worse it was. Jake knew this, but he did it out of pure cowardice. His alpha instinct was completely out of control, almost bringing him to the brink of collapse.

— What the fuck... Haa... Haaa...

His breathing became more and more suffocating.

He needed to master it.

He needed to find an omega to quench that impulsive thirst.

He needed to make that omega mine.

He needed an omega.

— Are you all right?

Even if he looked at the person talking to him, Jake's conscience wasn't strong enough to remember him, especially as he was wearing a hood that cast a shadow over his face. He just sniffed the air without smelling any specific scent that would reveal his class.

A growl escaped his lips and to stop himself, Jake bit his wrist.

— Urgh.

— Looks like that's a no. — The person touched Jake's arm, pulling the bruise away from his mouth. Being so close, the alpha noticed the gloved hand — Take a deep breath, I've got a bottle of water, would you like a drink to try and calm down?

Jake's breathing quickened and his whole body tingled with the desire to dominate someone. It was hard to stay conscious, but he managed to nod as he tried to control his breathing.

What the fuck!

He'd taken the suppressant before leaving the room, so why didn't it work?

— All right, hang on and I'll get my rucksack.

The guy moved away from Jake, just a few centimetres so he could reach into his bag. It was then that the hood covering his face fell away, leaving the back of his neck bare. Jake stared wide-eyed at that unmarked space, which looked so seductive.

Alphas love to bite their partners, to fill them with marks to make their territory clear. Although Jake had never bitten anyone, not even in heat, which was a great temptation. However, at that moment it seemed difficult.

That guy, who had no odour whatsoever, seemed to be the perfect prey for the alpha. Like a blank canvas that was just waiting for the first colourful strokes to take shape and belong to someone.

He wanted to bite him.

Jake unconsciously relaxed and began to release more and more of his scent to cover the guy's body. As soon as he turned round with the bottle of water, Jake took him firmly in his arms and hugged him, sinking his face into his neck.

— What are you doing?

Jake shivered when he heard the soft voice close to his ear, and then began sniffing him, thirsty to discover his class. Like an alpha desperate to find an omega.

He ran the tip of his nose along the guy's neck, growling more and more because he couldn't find any clues as to whether he was an omega or a beta. It was only when he approached the piece of fabric that seemed to cover his mouth that Jake finally smelt a scent.

Light, as if it were hiding itself on purpose.

Bittersweet and slightly seductive, although not too much. It was as if there was very little of the scent.

It was definitely too little to satiate that thirsty alpha.

— More... I need more...

— Hey, I know it's hard for you, but you know... You should be more careful, otherwise you might end up biting someone without consent.

— I'm sorry... Argh...

Jake made another effort to get away from the guy. He just needed a little energy to find somewhere else to calm down. But before he could move away completely, the other man pulled him by the head so that he was leaning against his chest.

— It's okay if you just cover me in your scent, all you want to do is mark your territory, don't you? Do it to calm down.

Jake's heart was beating so fast it could have burst out of his chest.

His alpha side didn't care about common sense and released more and more of its pheromones until it completely covered him. And little by little he was able to calm down, surrendering to the tiredness and closing his eyes to feel his body being enveloped by that warmth.

Whoever he was, he was kind enough to let his pheromones envelop him. Someone whose warm hands and cosy embrace made you feel you had found your place in the world.
