"Where did you get a drug like this? It's dangerous!"
"What kind of drug is it?" Maya asked, trying to understand what Mike was examining so intently.
"It's a sleeping pill! If you don't know what it is, how did you get it?"
"Huh!" Maya feigned shock, covering her mouth with her hand, making Mike immediately believe her surprised expression.
"Where did you get this?"
"From a friend. They said it was for when I had trouble sleeping."
"Friend? When did you meet this friend?"
Maya scratched her chin, trying to find a suitable excuse to keep Mike from getting suspicious.
"When was it? I forgot!" Maya giggled, then continued drinking the beer to avoid giving Mike any reason to be suspicious about her awkwardness that afternoon.
"You really shouldn't take something if you don't know what it is."
"But they said it was a good medicine. Hehehe, never mind. Let's continue drinking."
Mike nodded and then threw the drug Ikbal had given her into the ashtray on the table in front of him.
"Damn! My plan failed. He threw away the drug," Maya grumbled, grabbing her phone and informing Ray about the situation through a text message.
'What should I do now?' Maya asked at the end of her message.
Ray didn't respond, as if he didn't know what to advise the sweet girl that afternoon.
Worried that Mike might read her message, Maya quickly deleted the conversation and resumed chatting with Mike.
Mike was a strong drinker, but the 620 ml of beer he consumed didn't seem to affect him at all.
Made Maya even more convinced that her plan to get him drunk with beer alone was futile.
As evening approached, Mike seemed to grow bored. His body looked restless, as if he wanted to leave his luxurious house, though he didn't dare suggest it to Maya because he knew his ex-girlfriend would refuse since she didn't like crowds.
But not knowing what else to do, Mike finally tried to ask.
"Do you want to go out tonight?"
"Go out? Where to?"
"How about we go to my father's hotel in Surabaya?"
"Surabaya?" Maya still didn't know what to do at that moment. "I'd rather go home! I don't want my mom to worry about me."
"Why are you afraid to go with me? Besides, your mom would surely allow us to go, right?"
"Go with you? Why are you so sure my mom would allow it?"
"By mom, you mean Inaya, right?"
"No!" Maya giggled. "My mom is Mala, not Inaya."
"Oh, right. How is your good mom? Your dad should regret marrying Inaya, who's like a demon."
"Hey, why do you say that? Don't you two get along well?"
"With who?" Mike didn't take kindly to Maya's words. "I don't have the relationship you think I do!"
"Then why do you seem to follow all of Inaya's orders?"
Mike was silent for a moment, then brought his face closer to Maya. "You must have thought all this time that I was the bad guy for following your stepmother's orders, right?"
"Of course I thought so. You got close to her and then close to Miya because of Inaya, didn't you?"
"You're wrong!" Mike said firmly, his eyes wide. I'm not close to Miya. She approached me."
"What!"
"It's true! Your sister seduced me first because she didn't want you to marry me."
"You must be drunk, Mike. There's no way Miya would seduce you first."
Mike closed his eyes for a moment, then grabbed his phone from the table in the living room where they were sitting.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm going to show you your sister's first message to me, where she asked me out."
Mike suddenly became enthusiastic and showed Maya one of Miya's messages to him, making her realize her assumptions about Mike were utterly wrong.
'If you want, let's go out.'
Crash!
Reading her twin sister's message, Maya's eyes widened. She couldn't believe Miya, whom she thought was very innocent and sweet, could type seductive words and invitations to a guy who was clearly her boyfriend.
"So I was wrong about you?"
"Yes, I never seduced your sister. She initiated it. She even gave me sleeping pills that made me unconscious that night," Mike recalled, grabbing the hand of the woman he still loved.
"So you're actually the victim?"
"Yes, I am a victim, Maya. I never betrayed you."
"Mike," Maya began to believe what the playboy was saying, and in turn, she started to resent Miya, her twin sister.
"Don't look at me like that, Maya. I may be a playboy on campus, but you know I'm not that easy. I just flirt with them, but I never take them to bed."
"But how did Miya get pregnant? That's the big question!"
"Honestly, I don't know. I never touched her while I was conscious."
"What! So you did it when you were unconscious?"
"Yes! She gave me a drug like this," Mike pointed to the drug he had thrown into the ashtray. "This, something like this!"
"Oh my God!"
"After I took the drug, I don't remember anything, and when I woke up, Miya's body was..."
"Was what?"
"She was undressed on top of me."
"Oh my God!" Maya's head suddenly felt very heavy, and her heart grew more convinced that Mike wasn't to blame in this case, but rather Miya, whom she thought was the victim.
This realization left her speechless, and eventually, tears began to stream down her cheeks.
"Sweetheart, don't cry. I really only love you."
"Mike, it's not that I don't believe your story, but why would she betray me like this?" Maya whimpered, occasionally pinching Mike's hand, a habit she had when she was upset with him.
"I don't know, she seduced me, she gave me the drug. How would I remember what we did!"
"So this is all a misunderstanding. I have to ask her why she would do this to me, Mike."
"Hey!" Mike's eyes widened, and he suddenly looked awkward.
This change in expression made Maya immediately suspicious of her boyfriend. If he was honest, why the awkwardness?
"What's wrong?" Maya asked softly, with an innocent look on her face.
"You don't need to ask Miya anymore."
"Why not?"
"Because no thief would admit to being a thief."
"Oh! That's true," Maya nodded slowly.
"Just believe what I told you!"
"Okay!" Maya became more convinced that Mike's story was just a fabrication.
But why? And who was really at fault if Mike had such long chat evidence from Miya?
