Worries

Rina did not mind that she was all soaked with water as she rushed down the stairs of Royal Hospital. Her mind was fuzzy and worries were arising, she cared for her family so much, especially her father. She could not bear the thought of losing him or even any member of her family.

As she ran with all her might, she came across a nurse and stopped her. "Please, I am looking for my father," she said to her.

"Who are you, please?" The nurse asked.

"My name is Sabrina and my father was admitted a while ago," she replied.

"Oh, yes. You are the person my boss called. Follow me," the nurse replied and led Rina toward the patients' ward. When they got there, she led her to the room where her father was being kept and together, they went in.

Seeing her father lying unconscious, Rina rushed to the bed and held her father's hand.

"Pa, Pa, it's me, Rina," she spoke, trying to hold back her tears. She didn't receive any response from him and she turned to the nurse who hadn't gone. "What is wrong with my father? Why isn't he answering me?"

"Your father is in a coma so he can't hear or even respond to you," the nurse replied.

At this point, Rina fell to her knees. The news was just too heavy for her to digest. Coma? Why? What for? How could her dear father fall into a coma?

"Miss, the doctor will be here soon. I am sure there is a possible solution so please don't lose hope yet," the nurse said and left the room.

Just then, a tall man with eyeglasses walked into the room.

"You must be Miss Sabrina?" He asked as he made his way to where Rina was kneeling. He bent down and then helped her up before continuing. "Your father is suffering from kidney failure, at this rate, we need to do a kidney transplant as fast as possible or he might end up not opening his eyes again."

Hearing this, Rina grabbed the man's white coat and began to plead. "Doctor, please I want you to do whatever you can just to cure my father. Kidney transplant or whatever, please just go ahead."

"We have to find a donor but that isn't the problem," the doctor said.

"What is the problem?" Rina asked, not getting the doctor.

"Follow me," he replied and turned around. She saw him leaving and she followed him immediately. He led her into his office and then went to his seat to sit down. "Have a seat," he offered her but the girl was obviously not in the mood to sit down. She was scared, worried, and sad at the same time. The look on her face indicated how tired she was. "If you don't sit down, I won't tell you anything," he said to her, and abruptly, she went for a chair and sat down immediately. "Now, the problem isn't getting the kidney, it is the money."

"How much are we talking about?" She asked him after a while.

"Hold on," the doctor replied and bent down to bring a file from one of his lockers. "Here, this is the file containing your father's data."

Rina collected the file and went through it. When she saw the amount of money, she screamed.

"Keep it down, you are in the hospital," the doctor said to her but it was hard for her to do so. The money she was seeing there was something she could not mention with her mouth.

"Six zeros?" She asked and the doctor nodded his head. She dropped the file and fell back in her chair, she had never seen or touched that kind of money in her life before. "Doctor, I don't have such an amount of money, what do we do?"

"Are you going to let your father die?" The doctor asked her.

"No! I can not do that but... But the money is way too much," she replied. "Can't you reduce it? At least remove two zeros out of the six, then perhaps I can be able to get the money."

"It is not possible, Miss Rina," the doctor replied. "It's kidney transplant we are talking about here."

Even without being told, Rina knew the importance of the kidney transplant but as a poor girl, she had no money. Her mother had no money, her elder brother was nowhere to be seen, it was just her, her and her creator alone.

"I will help you," the doctor suddenly said out of nowhere. At first, it came as a huge surprise to Rina who he was talking to. She didn't move immediately, it was as though she was yet to digest it, and when she was done, she sprang to her feet and went over to his side.

"Doctor, what did you say?" She asked him.

"I said I am going to help you—" Before he could finish, the girl suddenly pounced on him, hugging him out of nowhere.

"Thank you, thank you, doctor!" She said as she hugged him. While she was seriously hugging the doctor who was still taken aback, the door pushed open and a young slender girl walked in. Seeing what was happening, she was shocked.

"Miles?" She said and Rina broke the hug immediately and moved away.

Seeing the girl who was looking around, she gulped. "Doctor, thank you once again!" And with that, she ran out of the room with her bag, leaving the doctor to do all the explanations alone.

"Clara, sit down, it's not what you are thinking," the doctor said to the girl.

"Then start talking," Clara replied and the doctor told her everything that happened and how Rina hugged him without any warning. After all the explanations, Clara's gaze on him softened again. "I'm sorry I misunderstood you just now," she apologized immediately.

"It is nothing, babe," he replied and got up from his chair. He walked over to hers, bent down, and then planted a kiss on her lips. "It's not your fault."

"Thank you, darling," she replied and she hugged him. While they both hugged each other, she was oblivious to the fact that her man's eyes were on the door, and for a reason, he was smiling.
