Red velvet, don't forgive me

In the dimly lit alley, a crescendo of danger hung in the air like a storm ready to break. The darkness of the moonless night enveloped the streets, casting a shroud of mystery over the city.

Why is Rowen here? Why David targeted him; they have no hostility. A splitting headache, pain throbbing behind her eyelids so strongly that she whimpered.

"If I go there, David will recognize me. Oh, God, what I will do." Then she straightened her face, smirked, and said, "Seems like, apart from me, Mr Rowen has made so many enemies. Let's see how he protects himself."

Harlin drummed her fingers on the ignition and her soles on the road. Rowen closed his eyes, knit his brows, and opened them. A group of ruthless mercenaries surrounded him, and their sinister, ruddy-cheeked man with a receding forehead sat on a chair.

"Why did you bring me here? What do you want?" He growled. Everyone in the group burst out laughing, like Rowen was raving-mad.

"For seance." A man from the group chuckled.

"Don't go too far; tell me, who told you to kill me? How much did he give you? I will give more than that."

The leader laughed at the top of his voice. Then he left his chair and approached to Rowen,

"Mr Matthew, I thought you were a hot potato, but it turns out you are a driveler. David never bluffed his dealer; they are angels for me."

The darkness of the moonless night enveloped the streets, casting a shroud of mystery over the city. With a grin, Harlin quickly slipped a candy out of her pocket and put it in her mouth, enjoying the game of cat and mouse. Pondering something, Harlin took her phone and typed in a number.

To find out who was behind the mask, Rowen attempted to probe the members. He shrugged.

"Who is your dealer?"

"That's none of your business; we don't reveal anything about our betel-nut. Now, stop your verbal diarrhea, call your God, and be ready to sleep. I promise you, I don't hurt you much."

"You have to pay for it, you son of a bitch." Rowen exclaimed. A thin, shaggy boy suddenly came at a higher speed and flicked him. Rowen can't vault down as his hands are stopped by a rope barrier.

Harlin's heart pounded in her chest, torn between the urge to rush in and save Rowen and the necessity to remain hidden. Her eyes gleamed like the fire wings of the loon.

Rowen split and scoffed at the bunkers. The skinny boy again lifted him up and clenched his fist to strike him, but David came to hinder him from doing that.

"Stop it, Hillol; there is no bad blood between us, so it will be best if we just finish our task. Just kill him, or we will be caught up."

Rowen moved stealthily through the shadows; the cuffs at his wrist sent an electrical jolt up in his arms, causing him to shake slightly in pain.

With adrenaline coursing through her veins, Harlin's emerald eyes glinted with determination. She swiftly reached into her concealed pocket, pulling out a sleek, obsidian mask. Securing it over her face, she transformed into a phantom, obscuring her identity from prying eyes. Wrapped her fists with black leather gloves.

In the dimly lit alley, Harlin hesitated before inserting the car key into the ignition of the sleek motorcycle but pursued herself, saying, as her father once said, "If you know or saw about a crime but don't report or stop it, you are complicit in that crime because you allowed it to happen."

The faint hum of the engine resonated, sending a shiver down their spine. With a twist of the wrist, the bike roared to life, its powerful vibrations blending with the city's distant clamor. Harlin's eyes gleamed as she determined to rescue the man she loved.

"It's useless to resist, Mr Matthew," David taunted. "You can't escape your fate." David placed his 0.45 ACP, a rimless, straight-walled handgun cartridge, on Rowen's forehead.

He shut his eyes and snapped them open as the memory of everything about him and Harlin came to him. He sighed and fixed his gaze on David.

"Red Velvet, we won't meet each other again; I can't amour you again. I am sorry, Harlin; I can't myself. Your father's killer will leave the earth soon; will you forgive me now? Don't forgive me, please. What if you forgive me and then forget me? I can't allow it." Rowen muttered.

Harlin leaped from the shadows, like a shroud of darkness. With the sudden gust of violent wind speed, she dispatched two mercenaries and David with her bike, which struck her like an overtaking wing before they even realized what had hit them.

Caught off guard, David and his remaining henchmen turned to face their mysterious assailant.

"Bugger it." David screamed. "Who the hell are you?"

Harlin stopped short of her bike; she vaulted down and climbed out of that.

"Hello, my friends. "

The mercenaries are spellbound. They fell very restless as their eyes met Harlin's. They felt they had reached a region where a lot of mist abounds with icebergs. A human figure, whose snow-covered cliffs shine in a gloomy light.

"Who are you?" They uttered these words together.

"I am his enemy." Harlin points her fingers towards Rowen.

"Enemy!"

"Yes."

"Then, why do you stop us? We are about to kill him." David asked angrily.

"Apart from me, no one has the right to touch him. He is only mine; I will do whatever I want, so leave him."

"Is that so? Hey, leave him for now and take her; I want to sink in this holy water, then I will kill both." David cracked and chuckled.

"David, you prove it today; you are really a bonker."

"You bitch, how dare you?'

Harlin smirked and took a few steps closer to David. David gazed at her and muttered, "OMG, this girl's eyes are as red as a rosy flame."

At the nick of time, Harlin removed her mask.

"I think you should get back to your place, David. Don't worry, I will send you there in a short allegory, ARE YOU READY? Or you still want to sink in…. ''

David drew out his aching teeth; he fell down and staggered away from the chaotic scene where the fateful encounter had taken place.

"Captain!" His voice was as thin as the voice from the grave.

" A glorious Devil, large in heart and brain!" David shuttered
