A hut serves as the main habitat, one for receiving patients, one dedicated to crafts, one serving as a warehouse, a stable for raising livestock, a large vegetable garden with multiple plantations, and a well serving as a source of water.
This is what the extent of Habel's family's land consisted of.
Habel was heading towards the room used to care for the sick, it was from this hut that the sound of the knocks was coming.
This room was quite spacious and had a strong smell of medicinal plants. Beds made of straw were arranged in one corner, and the center, there were two stools separated from a small table, and on one of them, a young girl about the same age as Habel could be seen sitting waiting to be received.
"I was sure it was you again."
Habel didn't seem surprised by her presence; he had gotten used to seeing her come around as soon as he took Maha's place, believing that she was spying on his every coming and going.
If it were up to him, he would throw her out, because she constantly pretends to be sick, but to maintain his grandmother's reputation, he had to treat her well, especially since she paid well, although not surprising for someone living in the upper court.
"First of all, are you really unwell, Prisha?"
The girl called Prisha shook her head forward vigorously in confirmation.
"Very good, what are you suffering from?"
-I've had a really bad headache for a few hours now.
"you hit your head somewhere ?"
-Hum… No, I don't think so.
She pretended to think about it with her finger placed on her lips flirtatiously.
"Hmm… Did you think so hard about a reason to come here that you fried your neurons, causing this headache ?"
-Yes, I think that might be it… NO, NO, NO, that's not it, that's not that.
She abruptly got up from her seat and began to protest loudly against the answer she had just given.
'Wait, that was it ?'.
"Wait a moment, I'll do something to cure your 'famous' headache."
Habel began walking back and forth around the room, gathering all the items needed to prepare the remedy.
-Habel, you saw the Seran* attack this morning ?
"Nah, that's going to the south gate. It's quite far from here."
-It's true, but being attacked every morning by these animals is scary, imagine if they let some pass without paying attention. It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.
'Hmm… They've been rehearsing attacks on the village for over a week. It's strange, it's very different from their usual behavior. Maybe something here attracts them...'.
Habel finished gathering the ingredients and began to crush them in a small mortar he had at his disposal.
-The rainy season is fast approaching, and with it, the initiation ceremony into the warrior arts ! I hope you're ready, Habel.
'…'
-Do you already have a 'linkt'? Oh, what an idiot I am… How could a genius like you not have one? I can't wait to see what yours looks like.
'…'
Habel continued to ignore him, he was used to Prisha's incessant speeches.
She always had something to tell, it wouldn't be surprising if she ended up becoming a village morello cherry.
He finished his preparation by pouring a little water into the mortar, stirring everything, and putting it in a bowl.
-Oh done, I have secret information of great importance about the superior court. You want to know what it is ?
"Take it, you should feel better after drinking it."
Habel paid no attention to everything she could tell, he just handed her the concoction.
Prisha was unhappy with Habel's lack of interest in the information she had.
-Very well, I'll drink it... But afterward, I'll tell you what it is, no need to thank me for that. I assure you you will be shocked when you find out.
'She talks a lot'.
**BOOM-BOOM-BOOM**
**BOOM-BOOM-BOOM**
**BOOM-BOOM-BOOM**
The sound of the drums echoed throughout the village.
By the third salvo, Prisha was shocked, while Habel wondered what kind of spectacle he was going to see this time.
